The aim of this work is to present results derived from experimental IR and UV spectra and theoretical studies of DPCH, in order to get a more deeper insight on the physicochemical properties of this compound to gain a more deep knowledge of its action, helping in the design of new compounds with antimalaric effects. Notwithstanding the apparent incompatibility between octahedral and icosahedral symmetries, fragments with the two types of symmetry coexist in many molecules and crystals, as evidenced by continuous shape and symmetry measures. A geometric analysis of Platonic and Archimedean polyhedra and of a variety of molecular and crystal structures strongly suggests that octahedral symmetry is latent in icosahedral polyhedra and vice versa. In this Feature Article, new concepts and structural data from the literature combine to offer a perspective view of complex molecular and extended structures. Its influence on the common cubic packing of icosahedral molecules is discussed for a variety of examples, including water clathrates, dodecahedrane, Buckminsterfullerene, the Pd145 and Mo132 clusters and several intermetallic phases.  相似文献

This work presents the results obtained from a spectrophotometry study performed on some indicators of the sulfonphtaleins like phenol red (PR), thymol blue (TB), bromothymol blue (BTB), xylenol orange (XO) and methylthymol blue (MTB). During the first stage the acidity constants of some of the indicators were determined using the data from spectrophotometry, potentiometry and with the use of the software SQUAD. These were as follows: for the equilibrium 2H+BTB<-->H(2)BTB, log beta(2)=15.069+/-0.046 and for H+BTB<-->HBTB, log beta(1)=8.311+/-0.044. For the XO and the MTB five values were calculated for each, namely, for MTB: log beta(5)=42.035, log beta(4)=38.567+/-0.058, log beta(3)=32.257+/-0.057, log beta(2)=23.785+/-0.057, and log beta(1)=12.974+/-0.045 while for XO: log beta(5)=40.120+/-0.102, log beta(4)=35.158+/-0.062, log beta(3)=29.102+/-0.053, log beta(2)=21.237+/-0.044, and log beta(1)=11.682+/-0.044. During the second stage, a study was conducted on the effect of the substituents present in the indicators to determine the effect of different functional groups on the pK(a) value corresponding to the last indicator's dissociation.  相似文献

The title compound, 1-(4-triethoxysilyl)phenyl)-4,4,4-trifluoro-1,3-butanedione, was synthesized in a three-step sequence starting from 2-(4-bromophenyl)propene. Containing both a trialkoxysilyl and a substituted 1,3-butanedione functional grouping within its structure, this new silane is a viable starting material for the preparation of functionalized sol-gel materials.  相似文献

The electronic structure of group 6-8 transition metal (TM) nitrido derivatives [PW(11)O(39){TM(VI)N}](4-) is studied computationally and the potential reactivity of the polyoxoanions is discussed. The observed electrophilic reactivity for the Ru(VI) nitrido derivative is rationalized from frontier molecular orbital analysis. When we move to the left or down in the periodic table (TM = Os, Tc, Re, Mo and W) the electrophilic character of the polyoxometalate decreases or the cluster should be better regarded as a nucleophile. The DFT analysis of the redox properties suggests that the still unknown high-valent Mn(VI)N and Fe(VI)N units could be stabilized by the porphyrin-like ligand [PW(11)O(39)](7-) and their electronic structure indicates that these anions should have a high potential reactivity towards nucleophiles.  相似文献

A fast and accurate method to compute the total solvation free energies of proteins as a function of pH is presented. The method makes use of a combination of approaches, some of which have already appeared in the literature; (i) the Poisson equation is solved with an optimized fast adaptive multigrid boundary element (FAMBE) method; (ii) the electrostatic free energies of the ionizable sites are calculated for their neutral and charged states by using a detailed model of atomic charges; (iii) a set of optimal atomic radii is used to define a precise dielectric surface interface; (iv) a multilevel adaptive tessellation of this dielectric surface interface is achieved by using multisized boundary elements; and (v) 1:1 salt effects are included. The equilibrium proton binding/release is calculated with the Tanford-Schellman integral if the proteins contain more than approximately 20-25 ionizable groups; for a smaller number of ionizable groups, the ionization partition function is calculated directly. The FAMBE method is tested as a function of pH (FAMBE-pH) with three proteins, namely, bovine pancreatic trypsin inhibitor (BPTI), hen egg white lysozyme (HEWL), and bovine pancreatic ribonuclease A (RNaseA). The results are (a) the FAMBE-pH method reproduces the observed pK a's of the ionizable groups of these proteins within an average absolute value of 0.4 p K units and a maximum error of 1.2 p K units and (b) comparison of the calculated total pH-dependent solvation free energy for BPTI, between the exact calculation of the ionization partition function and the Tanford-Schellman integral method, shows agreement within 1.2 kcal/mol. These results indicate that calculation of total solvation free energies with the FAMBE-pH method can provide an accurate prediction of protein conformational stability at a given fixed pH and, if coupled with molecular mechanics or molecular dynamics methods, can also be used for more realistic studies of protein folding, unfolding, and dynamics, as a function of pH.  相似文献

We present results of molecular dynamics simulations of the interface between water and 2-nitrophenyl octyl ether (NPOE). This system is analyzed in detail using a procedure to calculate intrinsic profiles of several important properties (density, radial distribution functions, hydrogen bonds, molecular orientation, self-diffusion). The interface was found to be molecularly sharp but corrugated by thermal fluctuations. Using a method based on capillary wave theory, we have estimated the interfacial tension and obtained good agreement with values calculated from the virial route. The results were compared to simulations of the water/nitrobenzene interface. The presence of an alkyl chain in NPOE introduces an added degree of hydrophobicity, which causes an increase in the interfacial tension. Furthermore, interfacial NPOE molecules are less organized than nitrobenzene and show a distinct dynamic response. These results shed light on the observed differences between these two organic liquids in electrochemical studies.  相似文献

The cyclam derivative 1,4,8,11-tetra(n-octyl)-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (L) has been used as carrier for the preparation of PVC-based membrane ion-selective electrodes for anionic surfactants. Different membranes were prepared using L as ionophore, tetra-n-octylammonium bromide (TOAB) as cationic additive and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or o-nitrophenyl octyl ether (NPOE) as plasticizers. The final used electrode contained a membrane of the following composition: 56% DBP, 3.4% ionophore, 3.8% TOAB and 36.8% PVC. This electrode displays a Nernstian slope of -60.0+/-0.9 mV/decade in a 2.0 x 10(-3) to 7.9 x 10(-6) mol dm(-3) concentration range and a limit of detection of 4.0 x 10(-6) mol dm(-3). The electrode can be used for 144 days without showing significant changes in the value of slope or working range. The electrode shows a selective response to dodecyl sulfate (DS-) and a poor response to common inorganic cations and anions. The selective sequence found was DS->ClO4->HCO3->SCN->NO3- approximately CH3COO- approximately I->Cl->Br->IO3- approximately NO2- approximately SO3(2-)>HPO4(2-)>C2O4(2-)>SO4(2-), i.e. basically following the Hoffmeister series except for the hydrophilic anion bicarbonate. Most of the potentiometric coefficients determined are relatively low indicating that common anions would not interfere in the DS- determination. A complete study of the response of the electrode to a family of surfactant was also carried out. The electrode showed a clear anionic response to DS- and to Na-LAS and a much poorer response to other anionic surfactants and to non-ionic surfactants. Also the electrode shows certain non-linear cationic response in the presence of cationic and zwitterionic surfactants. The electrode was used for the determination of anionic surfactants in several mixtures, and the results obtained were compared to those found using a commercially available sensor.  相似文献

An efficient regioselective synthesis of pyronyl pendant ethyl methylthiocarbonylalkanoates 5 has been delineated from the base catalyzed reaction of suitably functionalized 2-pyranone 1 and 2-carbethoxycycloalkanones 2, 6 through successive substitution and regioselective ring opening by in situ generated mercaptide ion. To assess the effect of C-4 substituent on regioselectivity, reactions of 6-aryl-3-cyano-4-(piperidin-1-yl)-2-oxopyran 8 with 2-carbethoxycyclohexanone 6a and 2-carbethoxy-2-methylcyclohexanone 6b were carried out separately under analogous reaction conditions but the compounds isolated were identical and characterized as 4-aryl-8-methyl-2-piperidin-1-yl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalene-1-carbonitriles 9. Ethyl 2-(5-amino-4′-bromo-4,6-dicyanobiphenyl-3-yl)-5-methylsulfanylcarbonylpentanoate 10 has also been prepared through base catalyzed ring transformation of ethyl 2-[6-(4-bromophenyl)-3-cyano-2-oxo-2H-pyran-4-yl]-5-methylsulfanylcarbonylpentanoate 5d by malononitrile in DMF.  相似文献
