[reaction: see text] Synthesis of the unique trisaccharide repeating unit of the O-polysaccharide of the lipopolysaccharide from Danish Helicobacter pylori strains has been accomplished. Key steps include the coupling of three monosaccharide moieties by glycosylations employing the 2'-carboxybenzyl glycoside method. Also presented is a method for the synthesis of the novel branched sugar, 3-C-methyl-D-mannose, which is one of three monosaccharide components.  相似文献

Spinel LiNixMn2−xO4 (x≤0.9) thin films were synthesized by a sol-gel method employing spin-coating. The Ni-doped films were found to maintain cubic structure at low x but to exhibit a phase transition to tetragonal structure for x≥0.6. Such cubic-tetragonal phase transition can be explained in terms of Ni3+(d7) ions with low-spin (t2g6,eg1) configuration occupying the octahedral sites of the compound, thus being subject to the Jahn-Teller effect. By X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy both Ni3+ and Ni2+ ions were detected where Ni2+ is more populated than Ni3+. Optical properties of the LiNixMn2−xO4 films were investigated by spectroscopic ellipsometry in the visible-ultraviolet range. The measured dielectric function spectra mainly consist of broad absorption structures attributed to charge-transfer transitions, O2−(2p)→Mn4+(3d) for 1.9 (t2g) and 2.8-3.0 eV (eg) structures and O2−(2p)→Mn3+(3d) for 2.3 (t2g) and 3.4-3.6 eV (eg) structures. Also, sharp absorption structures were observed at about 1.6, 1.7, and 1.9 eV, interpreted as being due to d-d crystal-field transitions within the octahedral Mn3+ ion. In terms of these transitions, the evolution of the optical absorption spectrum of LiMn2O4 by Ni doping could be explained and the related electronic structure parameters were obtained.  相似文献

We characterized the structure and magnetic properties of Mn-incorporated GaP nanowires synthesized by thermal evaporation of GaP/Mn powders. The nanowires consist of twin-crystalline zinc blende GaP grown with the [111] direction and doped with about 1 at. % Mn. They are often sheathed with the bumpy amorphous outerlayers containing high concentrations of Mn and O. The ferromagnetic hysteresis curves at 5 and 300 K and temperature-dependent magnetization provide evidence for the ferromagnetism with the Curie temperature higher than room temperature. Magnetic properties of individual nanowires have been measured, showing a large negative magnetoresistance equal to about -5% at 5 K. We suggest that the Mn doping of GaP nanowires would form a dilute magnetic semiconductor.  相似文献

The adsorption behavior of 1,4-benzenedithiol (1,4-BDT) on colloidal gold and silver surfaces has been investigated by means of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). 1,4-BDT chemisorbed dissociatively on both gold and silver surfaces but as mono- and dithiolate, respectively. Regardless of the bulk concentration of 1,4-BDT, only a monolayer was assembled on the silver surface with a flat orientation by forming two Ag–S bonds. On the gold surface, the monothiolate species,1,4-BDT−1, appeared to assume a rather flat orientation at a very low surface coverage, but as the surface coverage was increased, the adsorbate took a perpendicular orientation. Furthermore, when the bulk concentration of 1,4-BDT was close to that required for a full-monolayer coverage limit, a band assignable to the S–S stretching vibration appeared at 536 cm−1 in the gold sol SERS spectra. A separate ellipsometry measurement performed with vacuum-evaporated gold substrates revealed that up to tetralayers could be assembled on gold in 1 mM n-hexane solution of 1,4-BDT while at best a bilayer formed in either methanol or ethanol solution. The different adsorbate structure of 1,4-BDT on gold and silver was overall quite comparable to that of p-xylene-α,α′-dithiol.  相似文献

Methylation catalyzed by methyltransferases is a major metabolic pathway for an inactivation of some catecholamines, niacinamide as well as aliphatic sulfhydryl drugs and toxic hydrogen sulfides. To investigate the effects of obstructive jaundice in an animal model, common bile duct ligation (CBDL) was performed in the rat and enzyme activities of S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent arylamine N-methyltransferase and thiol methyltransferase were examined in liver cell fractions and serum for a period of 42 d after CBDL. Both mitochondrial and microsomal arylamine N-methyltransferase showed significant increases in their activities between the 1st through the 7th day (P < or = 0.05 to 0.001), and between the 1st through the 28th day (P < or = 0.01 to 0.001) post-ligation, although the cytosolic arylamine N-methyltransferase activity did not show a significant change compared to the activities from the sham-operated control. The mitochondrial as well as microsomal thiol methyltransferase showed significant increases in their activities between the 1st through the 28th day (P < or = 0.05 to 0.01 and P < or = 0.01 to 0.001, respectively) post-ligation, although the cytosolic thiol methyltransferase activity did not show a significant change compared to the activities from the sham-operated control. Arylamine N-methyltransferase and thiol methyltransferase in the serum from cholestatic rats also showed significant increases in their activities between the 1st through 28th day (P < or = 0.01 to 0.001), and between the 0.5th through the 42nd day (P < or = 0.05 to 0.001) post-ligation compared to the sham-operated control, respectively. Enzyme kinetic parameters (Km and Vmax) of hepatic membrane-bound arylamine N-methyltransferase and thiol methyltransferase were analyzed with the preparation from the 7th day post-ligation, using tryptamine or 4-chlorothiophenol as substrates and S-Adenosyl-L-[methyl-3H]methionine as co-substrate. The results indicate that although the Km values were about the same as the sham-operated control, the Vmax values of both enzymes increased significantly (P < or = 0.01 and 0.001, respectively). These results suggest that the biosynthesis of arylamine N-methyltransferase and thiol methyltransferase have been induced in response to obstructive jaundice.  相似文献

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) has been shown to improve the rate of peripheral nerve regeneration. In the present study we investigated the expression of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and phospholipase C-gamma1 (PLC-gamma1) in regenerating rat laryngeal nerves during the exposure to PEMF after surgical transection and reanastomosis. Axons were found to regenerate into the distal stump nearly twice faster in PEMF-exposed animals than in the control. Consistently, motor function was better recovered in PEMF-treated rats. The expression of nNOS and PLC-gamma1 was highly enhanced in the regenerated nerves.  相似文献
