We show that poly(vinylpyridine) (PVP) coated glassy carbon surfaces containing Fe(CN)6(3-) exhibit catalytic activity toward electroreduction of H2O2. While Fe(CN)6(3-) is catalytically inactive in solution phase, it exhibits catalytic activity upon incorporation into the PVP film, because film incorporation leads to an open coordination site in the otherwise inert Fe(CN)6(3-) molecule. However, this catalytic activity is quickly lost during H2O2 electroreduction due to leaching of the Fe species from the PVP film. The Fe catalyst in the PVP film could be stabilized by 1 order of magnitude in time by electrodeposition of small Au particles. Characterization of the film using scanning electron microscopy, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy shows that covalent attachment between the Au particle and the Fe-based catalyst is a likely mechanism for catalyst stabilization. 相似文献

We consider an elliptic system in divergence form with measurable coefficients in a nonsmooth bounded domain to find a minimal regularity requirement on the coefficients and a lower level of geometric assumption on the boundary of the domain for a global W 1,p , 1 < p < ∞, regularity. It is proved that such a W 1,p regularity is still available under the assumption that the coefficients are merely measurable in one variable and have small BMO semi-norms in the other variables while the domain can be locally approximated by a hyperplane, a so called δ-Reifenberg domain, which is beyond the Lipschitz category. Through the chemical coating of polypyrrole (PPy) doped with naphthalene sulfonic acid (NSA) on electrically insulating poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) woven fabric, PPy–NSA/PET complexes were synthesized. By using the electrochemical coating of PPy doped anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid (AQSA) on PPy–NSA/PET complexes, PPy–AQSA/PPy–NSA/PET complexes were synthesized. The silver (Ag) was thermally vacuum evaporated on the surface of PPy–AQSA/PPy–NSA/PET complexes (Ag|PPy–AQSA/PPy–NSA/PET). Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding efficiency (SE) and dc conductivity (σdc) of fabric complexes were measured for EMI shielding characteristics and theoretical simulation. The measurement of EMI SE in the frequency range from 50 MHz to 1.5 GHz was performed by using ASTM D4935-99 method. The EMI shielding characteristics such as transmittance, reflectance and absorbance were obtained from the S (scattering)-parameter analysis. This study reports a facile and practical means to non‐invasively deliver biologically active ingredients through the skin using polymer‐based nanocarriers. For this, polymer nanocapsules were fabricated with different surface charges as well as glass transition temperatures and we observed their ability to deliver the encapsulated active ingredient, coenzyme Q10, through the skin layer. Direct imaging of a probe molecule, Nile Red, and a matrix polymer labeled with fluorescence moiety, Lucifer Yellow, allowed us to demonstrate that the probe molecule readily permeates into the deep skin, while the matrix polymer stays in the stratum corneum layer due to electrostatic interactions. Quantitative characterization of the penetrating amount of coenzyme Q10 using the Frantz cell method proved that, to achieve improved delivery efficiency, the nanocapsule should have a low glass transition temperature as well as positive surface charges.

We report a new kind of broadly tunable optical bandpass filters based on unusual properties of long-range surface plasmon polaritons. A 0.004 variation in the refractive index of the dielectric medium translates into 210 nm of bandpass tuning at telecom wavelengths. The tuning mechanism reported here may be used to create compact and widely tunable optical systems and other plasmonic components with broadly tunable optical response. 相似文献

In this paper, the first analytical endeavor into the fluid dynamic modeling of an MR polishing process is reported. The velocity and shear stress fields of an MR fluid running through a thin slippery channel with a slightly varying height are analytically solved using a bi-viscosity constitutive model and a Navier slip model. Estimations of the mechanical power density and the total power per unit depth applied onto the channel surfaces are also presented. Analytical solutions for the Couette–Poiseuille flow behavior of a bi-viscous fluid flowing through either parallel or non-uniform channels are obtained, and the associated necessary and sufficient conditions characterizing a total of 5 types of flow are derived.The behaviors of the fluid are examined through the use of a parametric diagram of Bingham number (Bn) and Couette number (Co), i.e., Bn–Co or 1/Bn–1/Co diagram, by changing the geometric and operating conditions. Using these diagrams, variations in the rheological characteristics of the flow are investigated in great detail, with a special focus on the movement of the pseudo-core region. Finally, the mechanical power density field obtained for the flow in a converging–diverging channel is used to explain the wear mechanism in the MR polishing process. The effects of the power density field and the total power on the material removal rate (MRR) and the within-workpiece nonuniformity (WIWNU) with respect to various geometric and operating conditions are evaluated. 相似文献
