Development of sustainable materials requires methods capable of probing the molecular composition of samples not only at the surface but also in depth. Static secondary ion mass spectrometry (S-SIMS) characterises the distribution of organic and inorganic compounds at the surface. Ultra-low-angle microtomy (ULAM) has been studied as an alternative or complementing method to the molecular depth profiling with, e.g. C60+ projectiles. Acrylate-based multilayers relevant to industrial inkjet printing have been sectioned at a cutting angle below 1°. In this way, analysis of the section over a distance of 1 μm allows a depth range in the order of a few nm in the original sample to be achieved. Adequate procedures to optimise the ULAM step and minimise or control the cutting artefacts have been developed. The combination of ULAM with S-SIMS has allowed a depth resolution of 10 nm to be obtained for components at a distance of 35 μm from the surface.  相似文献

Zeolite crystals with cations present, such as ZSM-5, are widely used for gas sequestration, separations, and catalysis. One possible application is as an adsorbent to separate CO2 from N2 in flue gas mixtures. Typically, the zeolite framework is of a SiO2 composition, but tetravalent Si atoms can be replaced with trivalent Al atoms. This change in valence creates a charge deficit, requiring cations to maintain the charge balance. Experimental studies have demonstrated that cations enhance adsorption of polar molecules due to strong electrostatic interactions. While numerous adsorption studies have been performed for silicalite-1, the all-silica form of ZSM-5, fewer studies on ZSM-5 have been performed. Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations were used to study adsorption of CO2 and N2 in Na–ZSM-5 at T = 308 K, which is ZSM-5 with Na+ counter-ions present. The simulations suggest that a lower Si/Al ratio (or higher Na+ and Al content) substantially increases adsorption at low pressures. At high pressures, however, the effect of the Al substitutions is minor, because the Al?/Na+ sites are saturated with guest molecules. Similarly, a lower Si/Al ratio also increases the isosteric heat of adsorption at low loading, but the isosteric heats approach the silicalite-1 reference values at higher loadings. Comparison of simulations and experimental measurements of the adsorption isotherms and isosteric heats points to the importance of carefully considering the role of charge on the Na+ cations, and suggest that the balancing cations in ZSM-5, here Na+, only have partial charges.  相似文献

Dynamic adsorption–desorption measurements of CO2 and CH4 in amino-MIL-53(Al) were carried out in an adsorption breakthrough setup at different temperatures (303, 318, and 333 K) and pressures (1, 5, and 30 bar) to study the desorption dynamics of CO2 in amino-MIL(Al) as it plays an important role in the design of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process for the upgrading of biogas. 13X zeolite was used as a reference material. The dynamic adsorption selectivity as well as the desorption efficiency of CO2 in both amino-MIL-53(Al) and 13X zeolite were calculated to evaluate the potential of amino-MIL-53(Al) for the upgrading of biogas by PSA process.  相似文献

The interaction between the chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) and stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1, also known as CXCL12) is a natural regulatory process in the human body. However, CXCR4 over-expression is also found in diseases such as cancer, where it plays a role in, among others, the metastatic spread. For this reason it is an interesting biomarker for the field of diagnostic oncology, and therefore, it is gaining increasing interest for applications in molecular imaging. Especially "small-molecule" imaging agents based on T140, FC131 and AMD3100 have been extensively studied. SDF-1, antibodies, pepducins and bioluminescence have also been used to visualize CXCR4. In this critical review reported CXCR4 targeting imaging agents are described based on their affinity, specificity and biodistribution. The level wherein CXCR4 is up-regulated in cancer patients and its relation to the different cell lines and animal models used to evaluate the efficacy of the imaging agents is also discussed (221 references).  相似文献

By comparing the pressure drop in a column where the meso-pores of the particles have been blocked using the Total Pore Blocking (TPB) method to measure the interstitial volume of the column with that in the same column when the particle meso-pores are fully open, it could be demonstrated in a very sensitive way that the interstitial volume is completely devoid of any significant amount of remaining pore blocking agent in the final phase of a TPB experiment. Monitoring the pressure signal until it returns to its original value can hence be used as a reliable indicator that all blocking agent has been removed from the interstitial void at the end of the flushing period. As a consequence, any small molecular weight dead volume marker that is employed in this phase can explore the full interstitial volume, so that the value of the latter can be measured without being underestimated by the fact that some fractions of the interstitial void would still be occupied by the blocking agent.  相似文献

It has been demonstrated that it is possible to extend the Total Pore Blocking (TBP)-method for the determination of the external porosity (ε(e)) of packed bed columns from reversed-phase (RP) chromatography to normal-phase (NP) chromatography conditions by switching the nature of the blocking agent and the interstitial void flushing liquid, i.e., by using a hydrophilic blocking agent (pure or buffered water at pH 3.0 or pH 7.0) and a hydrophobic flushing liquid (linear alkanes such as decane). Several parameters that might influence the accuracy of the method, such as the applicable range of flow rates and the meso-pore size of the particles have been investigated. The influence of several different parameters on the obtained external porosity value has been investigated. From a wide selection of possible t(0)-markers, the class of linear alkanes has been shown to be the single possible one. This brings along the need to use refractive index detection to measure the signal of the linear alkane tracer (e.g., dodecane) in a stream of (another) linear alkane. The results of the newly established NP-TPB method have been compared to the values of the external porosity obtained by ISEC and proved to generate the same results, however with a much smaller read-out error (being only of the order of 0.1%).  相似文献

The speaking fundamental frequency (SFF) and the intraindividual variation of the SFF during the reading of a Dutch standard text were measured in 30 female monozygotic twins (MT) and 30 dizygotic twins (DT), aged 15–29 years. A control group was created that consisted of 30 nonrelated paired individuals of equal age. Studying the intrapair correlation coefficients it seemed that the SFF was similar to a greater degree in MT and to a lesser degree in DT, while there was no correlation at all in nonrelated peers. These results are compatible with a genetic basis for the SFF. On the other hand, the intraindividual variation of the SFF was highly similar in MT and in DT (but not in nonrelated peers), so that for this parameter it was not possible to discern the influences of genetic disposition and shared environment.  相似文献
