Gradient elution provides significantly higher peak capacity in comparison to the isocratic elution mode, hence it is very useful in online comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography (LC). We compared suitability of five commercial core-shell columns and one monolithic column for fast gradients in the second LC dimension, where the time of separation is strictly limited by the fraction cycle time. In two-dimensional reversed-phase systems with partially correlated retention, the resolution, the peak capacity, and the regularity of coverage of the second-dimension retention space can be improved by appropriate adjusting the gradient time and the gradient range to suit the sample properties. We developed a new strategy for adjusting the gradient mobile phase composition range in the second-dimension, employing the retention data of representative sample standards characterizing the sample properties, which can be calibrated using the reference alkylbenzene series. Optimized second-dimension gradients with single-step or segmented profiles covering two or more fraction ranges, employed for the separation of subsequent fractions from the first-dimension, improve significantly the resolution, the separation time, and the regularity of coverage of the two-dimensional retention plane. The approach was applied to the two-dimensional comprehensive separation of phenolic acids and flavonoid compounds occurring as natural antioxidants.  相似文献

In this work, a chromatographic method for identification of volatile organic compounds was compared with canine recognition. Gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-TOF MS) were used for determination of concentrations of trace gases present in human breath. The technique enables rapid determination of compounds in human breath, at the parts per billion level. Linear correlations were from 0.83-234.05 ppb, the limit of detection was the range 0.31-0.75 ppb, and precision, expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD), was less than 10.00 %. Moreover, trained dogs are able to discriminate breath samples of patients with diagnosed cancer. We found a positive correlation between dog indications and the ethyl acetate and 2-pentanone content of breath (r = 0.85 and r = 0.97, respectively). The methods presented for detection of lung cancer markers in exhaled air could be used as a potential non-invasive tool for screening. In addition, the canine method is relatively simple and inexpensive in comparison with chromatography.  相似文献

The proton‐transfer reaction in a model aromatic Schiff base, salicylidene methylamine (SMA), in the ground and in the lowest electronically‐excited singlet states, is theoretically analyzed with the aid of second‐order approximate coupled‐cluster model CC2, time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) using the Becke, three‐parameter Lee–Yang–Parr (B3LYP) functional, and complete active space perturbation theory CASPT2 electronic structure methods. Computed vertical‐absorption spectra for the stable ground‐state isomers of SMA fully confirm the photochromism of SMA. The potential‐energy profiles of the ground and the lowest excited singlet state are calculated and four photophysically relevant isomeric forms of SMA; α, β, γ, and δ are discussed. The calculations indicate two S1/S0 conical intersections which provide non‐adiabatic gates for a radiationless decay to the ground state. The photophysical scheme which emerges from the theoretical study is related to recent experimental results obtained for SMA and its derivatives in the low‐temperature argon matrices (J. Grzegorzek, A. Filarowski, Z. Mielke, Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 2011 , 13, 16596–16605). Our results suggest that aromatic Schiff bases are potential candidates for optically driven molecular switches.  相似文献

High profile: new activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) probes have been designed that target exclusively monoamine oxidases A and B within living cells (see picture; FAD=flavin adenine dinucleotide, FMN=flavin monodinucleotide). With these probes it could be shown that the MAO inhibitor deprenyl, which is in clinical use against Parkinson's disease, shows unique protein specificity despite its covalent mechanism of action.  相似文献

A nanocrystalline TiO2 (anatase) nanosheet exposing mainly the (001) crystal faces was tested as photoanode material in dye-sensitized solar cells. The nanosheets were prepared by hydrothermal growth in HF medium. Good-quality thin films were deposited on F-doped SnO2 support from the TiO2 suspension in ethanolic or aqueous media. The anatase (001) face adsorbs a smaller amount of the used dye sensitizer (C101) per unit area than the (101) face which was tested as a reference. The corresponding solar cell with sensitized (001)-nanosheet photoanode exhibits a larger open-circuit voltage than the reference cell with (101)-terminated anatase nanocrystals. The voltage enhancement is attributed to the negative shift of flatband potential for the (001) face. This conclusion rationalizes earlier works on similar systems, and it indicates that careful control of experimental conditions is needed to extract the effect of band energetic on the current/voltage characteristics of dye-sensitized solar cell.  相似文献

We assessed the relative merits of two approaches for including polarization effects in classical force fields for the sulfate anion. One of the approaches is the explicit shell model for atomic polarization and the other is an implicit dielectric continuum representation of the electronic polarization, wherein the polarizability density is spatially uniform. Both the solvation and ion association properties of sulfate were considered. We carried out an ab initio molecular dynamics simulation for a single sulfate anion in aqueous solution to obtain a benchmark for the solvation structure. For the ion-pairing properties, the models were compared to experimental thermodynamic data through Kirkwood-Buff theory, which relates the integrals of the pair correlation functions to measurable properties. While deficiencies were found for both of the approaches, the continuum polarization model was not systematically worse than the shell model. The shell model was found to give a more structured solution than the continuum polarization model, both with respect to solvation and ion pairing.  相似文献

Here we test the performance of the newly developed MP2.5 and MP2.X methods in terms of their abilities to generate accurate binding energies for noncovalently bound complexes at points away from their minimum energy structures and in terms of the accuracy of their potential energy minima. The MP2.X method is a scaled version of MP2.5 that allows for the use of smaller basis sets for the most computationally demanding (MP3) term, significantly reducing its computational cost. MP2.5 and MP2.X binding energy errors are compared to those of the reference CCSD(T)/CBS method on the dissociation curves associated with the S66 dataset of noncovalent complexes (S66x8). It is found that both the MP2.5 and MP2.X methods produce binding energy errors, as well as potential energy minima, that are significantly more accurate than those of MP2 methods. Thus, these methods are appropriate choices when very high quality geometries of noncovalent complexes are required.  相似文献

The previously predicted ability of the methyl group of nitromethane to form hydrogen bonding with halides is now confirmed experimentally based on X-ray data of novel nitromethane solvates followed by theoretical ab initio calculations at the MP2 level of theory. The cationic (1,3,5-triazapentadiene)Pt(II) complexes [Pt{HN=C(NC(5)H(10))N(Ph)C(NH(2))=NPh}(2)](Cl)(2), [1](Hal)(2) (Hal = Cl, Br, I), and [Pt{HN=C(NC(4)H(8)O)N(Ph)C(NH(2))=NPh}(2)](Cl)(2), [2](Cl)(2), were crystallized from MeNO(2)-containing systems providing nitromethane solvates studied by X-ray diffraction. In the crystal structure of [1][(Hal)(2)(MeNO(2))(2)] (Hal = Cl, Br, I) and [2][(Cl)(2)(MeNO(2))(2)], the solvated MeNO(2) molecules occupy vacant spaces between lasagna-type layers and connect to the Hal(-) ion through a weak hydrogen bridge via the H atom of the methyl thus forming, by means of the Hal(-)···HCH(2)NO(2) contact, the halide-nitromethane cluster "filling". The quantum-chemical calculations demonstrated that the short distance between the Hal(-) anion and the hydrogen atom of nitromethane in clusters [1][(Hal)(2)(MeNO(2))(2)] and [2][(Cl)(2)(MeNO(2))(2)] is not just a consequence of the packing effect but a result of the moderately strong hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

Molecular and ionic complexes of cis-2',5'-di(pyridin-3-yl)pyrrolidino[3',4':1,9](C(60)-I(h))[5,6]fullerene DP3FP with chlorobenzene (C(6)H(5)Cl), manganese(II) tetraphenylporphyrin (Mn(II)TPP) and tetrakis(dimethylamino)ethylene (TDAE) have been obtained for the first time. X-ray single crystal structure determination for the crystalline DP3FP·C(6)H(5)Cl (1) solvate proved unambiguously its molecular structure with the cis-arrangement of chelating 3-pyridyl groups. It has been demonstrated that DP3FP easily forms self-assembled photoactive complexes with metallated porphyrins. For example, the formation of a 1 : 1 complex between DP3FP and zinc (II) tetraphenylporphyrin (Zn(II)TPP) in cyclohexane solution (2) was evidenced using absorption spectroscopy. A successful X-ray single crystal structure determination was performed for a self-assembled triad composed of a DP3FP molecule linked with two Mn(II)TPP molecules in {DP3FP·(Mn(II)TPP)(2)}·(C(6)H(4)Cl(2))(3) (3). A strong organic donor TDAE reduces DP3FP to the radical anion state thus forming an ionic complex (TDAE˙(+))·(DP3FP˙(-))·(C(6)H(4)Cl(2))(1.6) (4). Optical, electronic and magnetic properties of 4 were investigated in detail. The performed studies strongly suggest that pyrrolidinofullerene DP3FP can be used as a building block in the design of various organic materials with advanced optoelectronic and/or magnetic properties.  相似文献

The kinetics of the oxidation of imipramine and desipramine using cerium(IV) complexes were studied in the presence of a large excess of azepine derivative (TCA) in acidic sulfate media using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The reaction proceeds via dibenzoazepine radical formation, identified by EPR measurements. The kinetics of the first degradation step were studied independently of the further slower degradation reactions. Linear dependences, with zero intercept, of the pseudo-first-order rate constants (k(obs)) on [TCA] were established for both dibenzoazepine radical formation processes. Rates of reactions decreased with increasing concentration of the H(+) ion indicating that cerium(IV) as well as both reductants exist in an equilibrium with their protolytic forms. The activation parameters for the degradation of dibenzoazepine derivatives in the first oxidation stage were as follows: ΔH(≠) = 39 ± 2 kJ mol(-1), ΔS(≠) = -28 ± 8 J K(-1) mol(-1) for imipramine and ΔH(≠) = 39 ± 2 kJ mol(-1), ΔS(≠) = -28 ± 6 J K(-1) mol(-1) for desipramine, respectively. Imipramine and desipramine radicals dimerized leading to an intermediate radical dimer, which decayed in a first-order consecutive decay process. These two further reactions proceed with rates which are characterized by non-linear dependences of the pseudo-first-order rate constants (k(obs)) on [TCA]. The degradation reaction of the intermediate radical dimer leads to an uncharged dimer as a final product. Mechanistic consequences of all the results are discussed.  相似文献
