We observed a strong, more than 16-fold, enhancement of Texas Red-labeled BSA fluorescence emission when deposited on silver colloid coated surfaces (SCCS). The same labeled protein deposited on silver island films (SIFs) showed an approximate 8-fold fluorescence enhancement. The lifetimes of Texas Red-BSA fluorescence are significantly shorter on silvered surfaces than on uncoated quartz substrate indicating a strong change in radiative decay rate of the dyes. We also observed a 36-fold increased brightness of overlabeled fluorescein-HSA deposited on silver colloid coated surface. Stronger enhancement observed for overlabeled Fl-HSA protein indicates that presence of silver particles partially decreased self-quenching. Our results indicate that surfaces coated with silver colloids are valuable substrates for metal-enhanced fluorescence. 相似文献

Herein, it is reported that the polymorphism in the helical nanofilament (HNF, B4) liquid-crystalline phase depends on the fabrication methods, that is, UV-driven formation and template-assisted self-assembly in the nanoconfined geometry. As a result, uniaxially oriented HNFs with different helical structures were obtained, in which generation of the twisted-ribbon and cylindrical-ribbon polymorphs showed that even the molecular lattice has a different orientation. The detailed structures were directly observed by SEM and grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction with synchrotron radiation. The resultant polymorphs could be used in chiro-optical applications due to the capability for fine control of the helical structures. 相似文献

An experimental investigations of convective mass/heat transfer in short circular channel with small inner diameter at Re numbers ranging from 20 to 250 were performed. Mean values of convective mass transfer coefficients were measured using electrochemical technique – limiting current method. The results of dimensionless mass transfer coefficient Sh were compared with conventional theory. It was observed the increase of experimental Sh in compare with data from classical correlation relative to channels of conventional size. The heat transfer correlation was obtained on the basis of mass/heat transfer analogy. Chilton–Colburn analogy was applied. A new complex of Cu(II) of stoichiometry [Cu(PCr)(H2O)] was prepared from aqueous solution at pH 6. Its synthesis, characterization, thermogravimetric, vibrational spectroscopy, and electron paramagnetic resonance analyses were described and suggest that phosphocreatine (PCr) in solid state is acting as a tridentate ligand (the nitrogen atom of the guanidine group and the oxygen atoms of the phosphate group and the carboxylate group being the donor atoms). The fourth position is occupied by a water molecule. These results were confirmed through computational calculations (DFT/B3LYP:6-311G theoretical procedure). The tetra coordination of Cu(II) arranged in a quadratic planar geometry was found to be more stable in the DFT calculations. Statistical copolymers of di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (MEO2MA) and tri(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (MEO3MA) were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) providing copolymers with controlled composition and molecular weights ranging from Mn = 8,300–56,500 with polydispersity indexes (Mw/Mn) between 1.19 and 1.28. The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the copolymers increased with the mole fraction of MEO3MA in the copolymer over the range from 26 to 52 °C. The average hydrodynamic diameter, measured by dynamic light scattering, varied with temperature above the LCST. These two monomers were also block copolymerized by ATRP to form polymers with molecular weight of Mn = 30,000 and Mw/Mn from 1.12 to 1.21. The LCST of the block copolymers shifted toward the LCST of the major segment, as compared to the value measured for the statistical copolymers at the same composition. As temperature increased, micelles, consisting of aggregated PMEO2MA cores and PMEO3MA shell, were formed.
