Activated carbon-supported Ni catalysts for vapor phase carbonylation of ethanol to propionic acid in the presence of ethyl iodide as promoter were investigated. Under optimum reaction conditions, the conversions of carbon monoxide and ethanol were measured to be 81.4% and 98.4%, respectively, while the selectivity for propionic acid was found to be 98.65%. The catalyst was stable within 48 h on stream. XRD and XPS methods were used to characterize the structures and surface properties of the fresh and tested catalysts. The characterization results indicated that aggregation of nickel particles and formation of nickel iodide on the catalyst surface should be responsible for the deactivation of the catalysts. 相似文献

The sofid-state ECL behavior of a water-insoluble bis-cyclometalated (pq)2Ir(N-phMA) complex is presented, in which pq is a 2-phenylquinoline anion and N-phMA is N-phenyl methacrylamide, a monoanionic bidentate ligand. The MWNTs/(pq)2Ir(N-phMA) film, MWNTs/Ru(bpy)32+ film and (pq)2Ir(N-phMA) directly modified glassy carbon electrode were fabricated; only the MWNTs/(pq)2Ir(N-phMA) film can produce steady ECL in the presence of tri-n-propylamine as a coreactant. 相似文献

The structures and stabilities of (Al2O3)n (n = 1-10 and 30) clusters were studied by means of first principles calculations. The calculated results reveal that the global minima of small (Al2O3)n (n = 1-5) clusters are cage structures with high symmetries, in which Al and O atoms are three- and two-coordinated, respectively, and are linked to neighbors via single bonds. Beyond (Al2O3)5, we calculated both cage and cage-dimer structures for (Al2O3)n (n = 6-10), and the results show that, at this size range, cage-dimer structures are more stable than cage structures. Furthermore, an onion-like motif for (Al2O3)10 was studied, and it is interesting to find that, at this size, the onion structure is more favorable than cage and cage-dimer structures. For large clusters, a shell structure of Al60O90 is suggested. Electronic properties and calculations on hydrogen adsorption of these aluminum oxide structures are reported, and we discuss their possible use as hydrogen storage materials. 相似文献

A series of ruthenium(II) complexes, [Ru(tcterpy)(NCS)3](4-) (0H), [Ru(Htcterpy)(NCS)3](3-) (1H), [Ru(H2tcterpy)(NCS)3](2-) (2H), and [Ru(H3tcterpy)(NCS)3](-) (3H) (tcterpy = 4,4',4'-tricarboxy-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine), are investigated theoretically to explore their electronic structures and spectroscopic properties. The geometry structures of the complexes in the ground and excited states are optimized by the density functional theory and single-excitation configuration interaction methods, respectively. The absorption and emission spectra of the complexes in gas phase and solutions (ethanol and water) are predicted at the TDDFT(B3LYP) level. The calculations indicate that the protonation effect slightly affects the geometry structures of the complexes in the ground and excited states but leads to significant change in the electronic structures. In cases of both absorptions and emissions, the energy levels of HOMOs and LUMOs for 0H-3H decrease dramatically as a result of the introduction of the COOH groups. The protonation much stabilizes the unoccupied orbitals with respect to the occupied orbitals. Thus, both the absorptions and emissions are red-shifted from 0H to 3H. The phosphorescence of 0H-3H are attributed to tcterpyridine --> d(Ru)/NCS ((3)MLCT/(3)LLCT) transitions. The solvent media can influence the molecular orbital distribution of the complexes; as a consequence, the spectra calculated in the presence of the solvent are in good agreement with the experimental results. The MLCT/LLCT absorptions of 0H in ethanol and water are red-shifted relative to that in the gas phase. However, the MLCT/LLCT absorptions of the protonated complexes (1H-3H) are blue-shifted in ethanol and water with respect to the gas phase. Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold surfaces based on three kinds of acetylthio-surfactant-encapsulated polyoxometalate clusters (thio-SECs) terminated with multiple CH(3)COS- groups, (NC(26)H(55)S(CO)CH(3))(6)H(2)[Co(H(2)O)CoW(11)O(39)], (NC(26)H(55)S(CO)CH(3))(13)H(3)[Co(4)(H(2)O)(2)(P(2)W(15)O(56))(2)], and (NC(26)H(55)S(CO)CH(3))(13)[Fe(4)(H(2)O)(2)(P(2)W(15)O(56))(2)]Br, have been prepared, which is representative of a general methodology to fabricate polyoxometalate-based SAMs. Thio-SECs self-assembled into monolayers on gold surfaces through the hydrolysis of CH(3)COS- groups and the subsequent formation of S-Au bonds, which was confirmed by grazing angle infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ellipsometric and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) measurements. Furthermore, the SAMs of the thio-SECs possess closely packed structures, and the local short-range order is clearly observed in the magnified STM image. We have also investigated the electrochemical behavior of SAMs of thio-SECs by cyclic voltammetry in detail, and the redox potential of the original polyoxometalates has been well retained. The electrochemical signals of the SAMs are very weak because of the small moiety of thio-SECs that are electrochemically accessible in the cyclic voltammetry experiments. The polyoxometalate-modified electrodes that we prepared are not only highly ordered in the local short range but also stable in electrochemical cycling because of the multiple S-Au bonds of thio-SECs on the gold substrates that aid in the construction of functional materials such as electrochemical and electrocatalytic devices. 相似文献

Colloidal nanorods of inorganic semiconductors are of interest for a range of optoelectronic devices. The ability to self-assemble these materials into ordered arrays by solution-processing techniques is crucial for achieving adequate device performance. Here we show that uniform ZnO nanorod films with defined nanorod alignment can be solution-deposited over large areas by controlling the surface energy of the nanorods through the choice of suitable ligands and by the fluid flow direction during growth. ZnO nanorods with long carbon chain ligands exhibit a smaller surface free energy than those with short carbon chain ligands resulting in better in-plane alignment and large domain sizes up to dozens of micrometers in spin-coated films. A model is presented to rationalize the observed self-assembly behavior. It is based on the formation of a lyotropic liquid crystalline phase on the surface of the liquid film which is facilitated by enhanced segregation of nanorods with low surface tension to the surface. Alignment of the nanorods is controlled by radial and vertical liquid flows in the drying solution. The ability to control the orientation of the nanorods and to achieve large domain size results in significant device performance improvement. Field-effect transistors with mobilities of up to 1.2-1.4 cm2/V.s are demonstrated in spin-coated, in-plane aligned ZnO nanorod films subject to postdeposition hydrothermal growth. 相似文献

The characteristics of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) were dramatically improved by chemically modifying the surface of the bottom-contact Ag or Cu source-drain (D-S) electrodes with a simple solution method. The contact resistance and energetic mismatch typically observed with Ag D-S electrodes in pentacene bottom-contact OFETs can be properly eliminated when modified by the Ag-TCNQ (TCNQ = 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane). The pentacene transistors with low-cost Ag-TCNQ-modified Ag bottom-contact electrodes exhibit outstanding electrical properties, which are comparable with that of the Au top-contact devices. It thus provides a novel way toward high-performance low-cost bottom-contact OFETs. 相似文献

Paraffin oil-in-water nano-emulsions stabilized by Tween 80/Span 80 were prepared using the emulsion inversion point method at different emulsification temperatures. Nano-emulsions with droplet size below 200 nm were formed above a critical surfactant-to-oil ratio of 0.20 at 50 degrees C. The main destabilization mechanism of the systems was found to be Ostwald ripening. An interesting phenomenon was that the Ostwald ripening rate declined as the surfactant concentration rose. Furthermore, flocculation was also found to contribute to the instability of the nano-emulsions, especially for those with low surfactant concentrations. Study on the electrophoretic properties of emulsion droplets revealed a negative value of the zeta potential, which was strongly dependent on the pH of the systems. 相似文献

A case study was conducted to determine the relative response factors (RRFs) of paclitaxel-related impurities by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) equipped with an ultraviolet (UV) detector and charged aerosol detector (CAD) in tandem. The peak response using CAD was independent of analyte structure in an isocratic analysis for this application. After a sample containing known and unknown impurities was analyzed with HPLC-UV-CAD, an empirical approach was developed to calculate the RRFs for all impurities. The RRFs of known impurities were also determined by linear calibration curves. For known impurities, the RRFs values determined with two approaches are comparable. The new approach is effective yet simpler to determine the RRFs for unknown impurities or degradation products since the need for obtaining authentic pure materials was eliminated. 相似文献

A novel, simple, and economic method, hollow-fiber ultrafiltration followed by centrifugation, has been developed for separation of viscid substances with similar properties except for different molecular weight. The experimental assembly needed only a U-shaped hollow fiber containing the sample solution with both ends of the fiber connected to two syringe needles. Ultrafiltration was performed by the action of centrifugal force. Concentration polarization was overcome and no phase transition occurred. Satisfactory recovery was achieved. 相似文献
