Asymmetric catalysis with CO2: direct synthesis of optically active propylene carbonate from racemic epoxides

This communication describes a convenient route to optically active propylene carbonate by a catalytic kinetic resolution process resulting from the coupling reaction of CO2 and racemic epoxides using simple chiral SalenCo(III)/quaternary ammonium halide catalyst systems.     

微波衍生-离子对高效液相-磺化四苯基卟啉光度法同时测定痕量镍、铜、锰和锌

 用磺化四苯基卟啉 (TPPS4 )作柱前衍生试剂 ,在微波作用下进行衍生反应 ,研究了衍生和分离Ni2 + ,Mn2 + ,Zn2 + 和Cu2 + 的最佳条件。在 75 0W的微波作用下衍生反应 3min ,在C18柱上采用乙腈 水 (体积比为 2 2 5∶77 5 )体系作流动相 ,四乙基溴化铵 (TEABr)作离子对试剂 ,在 415nm处检测 ,建立了微波衍生 离子对高效液相快速分离、光度检测Ni2 + ,Mn2 + ,Zn2 + 和Cu2 + 的新方法。络合物和反应试剂在 15min内出峰完毕。Zn2 + ,Cu2 + ,Ni2 + 和Mn2 + 的检测限分别为 0 0 5 μg/L ,0 0 1μg/L ,0 10 μg/L和 0 40 μg/L。     

Are the pyrazolines formed from the reaction of [60]fullerene with alkyl diazoacetates unstable?

[60]Fullerene-fused pyrazolines 1 were prepared by the reaction of C₆₀ with alky diazoacetates under the solid-state high-speed vibration milling conditions as well as in toluene solution. Pyrazolines 1 were stable in refluxing toluene and its thermolysis process in 1,2-dichlorobenzene was investigated, the decomposition rates and activation energies of pyrazolines 1 were obtained. The current work demonstrated that the liquid-phase reaction of C₆₀ with alkyl diazoacetates undergoes via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition pathway at room temperature, or proceeds via carbene mechanism at a temperature of refluxing toluene, thus clarifies the previous ambiguity of its reaction mechanism.     

Synthesis of fluorescent dendritic 8-hydroxyquinoline ligands and investigation on their coordinated Zn(II) complexes

A series of luminescent PAMAM dendrons emanating from 8-hydroxyquinoline have been synthesized and their coordination with Zn(II) was investigated for the first time. The obtained dendritic Zn(II) complexes were soluble in common organic solvents. It was found that the luminescence intensity of G2 dendron 6 was higher than that of G1 dendron 4. Furthermore, when they were coordinated with Zn(II), red-shift was observed and the intensities of the coordinated Zn(II) complexes were higher than that of the corresponding ligands.     

A Novel 3‐D Heterobimetallic Cyano‐bridged Coordination Polymer Incorporating Ag···Ag Interaction: [Cu(dien)Ag(CN)2]2[Ag2(CN)3][Ag(CN)2]

A three‐dimensional cyano‐bridged copper(II) complex, [Cu(dien)Ag(CN)₂]₂[Ag₂(CN)₃][Ag(CN)₂] ( 1 ) (dien = diethylenetriamine), has been prepared and characterized by X‐ray crystallography. Complex 1 crystallized in the monoclinic space group P2₁/n with a = 6.988(2), b = 17.615(6), c = 12.564(4) Å, β = 90.790(5)°. The crystal consists of cis‐[Cu(dien)]²⁺ units bridged by [Ag(CN)₂]^— to form a zig‐zag chain. The Ag atoms of the free and bridging [Ag(CN)₂]^— link together to form additional infinite zig‐zag chains with short Ag···Ag distances. The presence of Ag···Ag interactions effectively increases the dimensionality from a 1‐D chain to a 3‐D coordination polymer.     

Facile synthesis of gemini surface-active ATRP initiator and its use in soap-free AGET ATRP mini-emulsion polymerisation

A novel cationic gemini surfactant has been readily synthesised in 70 % total yield. The functional gemini surfactant can act both as an emulsifier and an atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP) initiator in mini-emulsion polymerisation of methyl methacrylate (MMA), in which no other emulsifier was required. 1-(Dimethylamino)dodecane (N,N-dimethyldodecylamine, DMDA) was found to be a good ligand in the activator generated by electron transfer (AGET) ATRP reaction. Kinetic studies indicated that the polymerisation featured controlled/living radical polymerisation.     

Biomass Composition, Lipid Characterization, and Metabolic Profile Analysis of the Fed-Batch Fermentation Process of Two Different Docosahexanoic Acid Producing Schizochytrium sp. Strains

Growth and fermentation characteristics, biomass composition, lipid characterization and metabolic profiling analysis of two different Schizochytrium sp. strains, the original strain and the industrial adaptive strain, were investigated in the fed-batch fermentation process. The final cell biomass, total lipids content, docosahexanoic acid (DHA) content and DHA productivity of the adaptive strain were much higher than those of the original strain. The metabolic distinctions which extensively existed between these two strains were revealed by the score plot of principal component analysis. In addition, potential biomarkers responsible for discriminating different strains were identified as myo-inositol, histidine, alanine, asparagine, cysteine, and oxalic acid. These findings provided new insights into the industrial strain screening and further improvement of DHA production by Schizochytrium sp.     

Studies on the Total Synthesis of Hainanolide (VII) - Analysis of the Relative Stereochemistry of key Intermediate 2

The natural product, hainanolide 1, also under the name harringtonolide2 demonstrated antitumor and antiviral activities in preliminary test. Its structure was determined by X-ray diffraction.
