Surface-enhanced Raman scattering study of polymer on metals. III. Chemisorbed polybenzimidazole and its corrosion-inhibiting properties at high temperature

Chemisorption of polybenzimidazole on silver and copper etched with nitric acid has been observed by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The polymer is found to react chemically with silver, forming a complexed film on the surface. The SERS spectra show that polybenzimidazole film inhibits oxidation of the metal at high temperature, unlike chemisorbed benzimidazole, benzotriazole, and poly(4-vinyl pyridine). © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Competitive influence of atactic polystyrene and supercritical carbon dioxide on the conformation of syndiotactic polystyrene

The crystallization behavior of miscible syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) and atactic polystyrene (aPS) blends with different sPS/aPS weight ratios was investigated in supercritical CO₂ by using Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. Supercritical CO₂ and aPS exhibited different effects on the conformational change of sPS and competed with each other. Increasing the content of amorphous aPS in the blends made its effect on the conformational change of sPS gradually surpass that of supercritical CO₂. Supercritical CO₂ favored the formation of the helical conformation of sPS in lower temperature range and the all trans planar conformation in higher temperature range, instead of forming the latter one only in higher temperature range in ambient atmosphere. However, increasing aPS content in the blends pushed the range for forming the helical conformation to lower temperature and made the all trans planar conformation dominant in aPS/sPS 25/75 blend after treating in supercritical CO₂ above 60 °C. The all trans planar zigzag conformation was more favorable than the helical conformation after mixing aPS in sPS in supercritical CO₂. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The millimeter wave spectrum of the CO dimer

The millimeter wave spectrum of the isotopically substituted CO dimer, (¹³C¹⁶O)₂, has been studied for the first time, confirming and extending a recent infrared study. Eighty-seven transitions in the 77-180 GHz region have been assigned and analyzed in terms of a model-independent term value scheme involving 57 rotational levels with J=0-8. The levels can be classified into 7 “stacks” which have symmetry classifications of either A⁻/B⁺ or A⁺/B⁻ and K-values of either 0 or 1. For the normal isotope, symmetry and nuclear spin statistics cause alternate rotational levels to be missing, but for (¹³C¹⁶O)₂ all levels are present with an intensity alternation of 1:3 between A and B symmetries. The four A⁻/B⁺ stacks have not previously been observed, and the lowest of them establishes the tunneling splitting of (¹³C¹⁶O)₂ to be 3.769 cm⁻¹, slightly larger than the (¹²C¹⁶O)₂ value of 3.731 cm⁻¹. A large amount of precise experimental data is now available for the CO dimer, which should lead to greater theoretical insight into its structure and tunneling dynamics.

Interference Diagnosis of the Initial Stage of Laser-Produced-Plasma in Air

By using a Q-switched YAG Laser and a optical path delay set-up, we study the process in whith a laser induces breakdown to produce plasma in air, and obtain time-resolved Mach-Zehnder interferograms and optical shadowgrams of the initial stage of the plasma and the expansion wave produced in the process for the first time

Hydroxyapatite coating on porous silicon substrate obtained by precipitation process

Hydroxyapatite Ca₁₀(PO₄)₆(OH)₂ (HAP) is known as a bioactive and biocompatible material, HAP coatings were used to improve the biocompatible of substrate by many researcher, In this work, HAP thin films on porous silicon (PS) substrates have been prepared by aqueous precipitation method with rapid thermal annealing (RTA) processes. The HAP films had been prepared under the annealing temperature ranging from 300 to 1000 °C. By the measurement of X-ray diffraction (XRD), it was found that for the crystallinity optimization, the heat-treatment at 850–950 °C for 1 h would be favorable. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements reveal a dense and smooth surface of the HAP film, and tightly adherence of the coating on porous silicon substrate after sintered. Thus, by this method, porous silicon could be increased its bioactivity and so that could be used in the biomedical area.     

超重元素(新核素)合成研究进展情况分析和展望

本文在介绍和分析国际、国内在超重元素（新核素）合成实验研究与理论研究进展情况的基础上对我国今后如何从理论与实验的结合上开展超重元素（核）合成研究工作提出一些看法和建议，提供讨论。
