An electrochemical approach is developed that allows for the control of both proton and electron transfer rates in the O2 reduction reaction (ORR). A dinuclear Cu ORR catalyst was prepared that can be covalently attached to thiol‐based self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au electrodes using azide–alkyne click chemistry. Using this architecture, the electron transfer rate to the catalyst is modulated by changing the length of the SAM, and the proton transfer rate to the catalyst is controlled with an appended lipid membrane modified with proton carriers. By tuning the relative rates of proton and electron transfer, the current density of the lipid‐covered catalyst is enhanced without altering its core molecular structure. This electrochemical platform will help identify optimal thermodynamic and kinetic parameters for ORR catalysts and catalysts of other reactions that involve the transfer of both protons and electrons.  相似文献

The relative strength of noncovalent interactions between a thioether sulfur atom and various π systems in designed top pan molecular balances was determined by NMR spectroscopy. Compared to its oxygen counterpart, the sulfur atom displays a remarkable ability to interact with almost equal facility over the entire range of π systems studied, with the simple alkene emerging as the most powerful partner. With the exception of the O???heteroarene interaction, all noncovalent interactions of sulfur with π systems are favoured over oxygen.  相似文献

A new approach for target quantitative analysis for comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC × GC), interval Multi-way Partial Least Square (iNPLS) is presented and evaluated in this paper. In iNPLS, the two-dimensional chromatogram is split in small sections; each of these pieces is treated as an independent new chromatogram. Separated conventional NPLS calibration models for the concentration of the target analyte are built for each of the pieces of the whole chromatogram, and the best model is selected for quantitative analysis. An algorithm for iNPLS running on MatLab platform was written, preliminarily evaluated with using solutions of model compounds with different chemical properties and subsequently applied to quantify some allergens in perfume samples. The results were found to be adequate, and good precision and accuracy was obtained even for poorly resolved peaks.  相似文献

A new method for F AAS determination of sodium and potassium in biodiesel using water-in-oil microemulsion as sample preparation is proposed. The method was investigated for biodiesel produced from different sources, as soybean, castor and sunflower oil and animal fat and was also applied for vegetable oils. The optimized condition for microemulsion formation was 57.6% (w/w) of n-pentanol, 20% (w/w) of biodiesel or vegetable oil, 14.4% (w/w) of Triton X-100 and 8% (w/w) of water (aqueous standard of KCl or NaCl in/or diluted HNO3). The optimized instrumental parameters were: aspiration rate of 2 mL min−1 and the flame composition of 0.131 of C2H2/air ratio. For comparison purpose, the determination of sodium and potassium were also carried out according to European norms (EN 14108 and EN 14109, respectively). These norms are applied for determination of sodium and potassium in fatty acid methylic ester samples and consist in the sample dilution using organic solvent and determination by F AAS. The stability of microemulsified aqueous standards and samples was investigated and it was found to be stable for at least 3 days while the organic standard diluted with xylene showed a decrease around of 15% in the analytical signal in 1 h. The limits of detection were 0.1 μg g−1 and 0.06 μg g−1 and the obtained characteristic concentrations were 25 μg L−1 and 28 μg L−1 for sodium and potassium, respectively. The proposed method presented two times better limits of detection and better precision (0.4–1.0%) when compared with the dilution technique (1.5–4.5%). The accuracy of the method was evaluated through recovery tests and comparison with the results obtained by dilution technique. The recoveries ranged from 95% to 115% for biodiesel and 90% to 115% for vegetable oil samples. Comparison between the results obtained for biodiesel by both methods showed no significant differences at the 95% confidence level according to a Student's t-test. This study shows that the proposed method based on microemulsion as sample preparation can be applied as an efficient alternative for sodium and potassium determination in biodiesel samples.  相似文献

The two isoelectronic bipyridyl derivatives [2,2′‐bipyridyl]‐3,3′‐diamine and [2,2′‐bipyridyl]‐3,3′‐diol are experimentally known to undergo very different excited‐state double‐proton‐transfer processes, which result in fluorescence quantum yields that differ by four orders of magnitude. In a previous study, these differences were explained from a theoretical point of view, because of topographical features in the potential energy surface and the presence of conical intersections (CIs). Here, we analyze the photochemical properties of a new molecule, [2,2′‐bipyridyl]‐3‐amine‐3′‐ol [BP(OH)(NH2)], which is, in fact, a hybrid of the former two. Our density functional theory (DFT), time‐dependent DFT (TDDFT), and complete active space self‐consistent field (CASSCF) calculations indicate that the double‐proton‐transfer process in the ground and first singlet π→π* excited state in BP(OH)(NH2) presents features that are between those of their “parents”. The presence of two CIs and the role they may play in the actual photochemistry of BP(OH)(NH2) and other bipyridyl derivatives are also discussed.  相似文献

The proton-transfer dynamics in the aromatic Schiff base salicylidene methylamine has been theoretically analyzed in the ground and first singlet (pi,pi) excited electronic states by density functional theory calculations and quantum wave-packet dynamics. The potential energies obtained through electronic calculations that use the time-dependent density functional theory formalism, which predict a barrierless excited-state intramolecular proton transfer, are fitted to a reduced three-dimensional potential energy surface. The time evolution in this surface is solved by means of the multiconfiguration time-dependent Hartree algorithm applied to solve the time-dependent Schr?dinger equation. It is shown that the excited-state proton transfer occurs within 11 fs for hydrogen and 25 fs for deuterium, so that a large kinetic isotope effect is predicted. These results are compared to those of the only previous theoretical work published on this system [Zgierski, M. Z.; Grabowska, A. J. Chem. Phys. 2000, 113, 7845], reporting a configuration interaction singles barrier of 1.6 kcal mol(-1) and time reactions of 30 and 115 fs for the hydrogen and deuterium transfers, respectively, evaluated with the semiclassical instanton approach.  相似文献

This paper proposes the use of the least-squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) as an alternative multivariate calibration method for the simultaneous quantification of some common adulterants (starch, whey or sucrose) found in powdered milk samples, using near-infrared spectroscopy with direct measurements by diffuse reflectance. Due to the spectral differences of the three adulterants a nonlinear behavior is present when all groups of adulterants are in the same data set, making the use of linear methods such as partial least squares regression (PLSR) difficult. Excellent models were built using LS-SVM, with low prediction errors and superior performance in relation to PLSR. These results show it possible to built robust models to quantify some common adulterants in powdered milk using near-infrared spectroscopy and LS-SVM as a nonlinear multivariate calibration procedure.  相似文献

Due to the increasing search for alternative sources of natural rubber (NR) whose properties are similar to Hevea brasiliesis, several sources have been studied in the past few years. Among them, Mangabeira (Hancornia speciosa Gomes), which is native to Amazon rainforest and other regions of Brazil, has a potential as another viable rubber source. As a continuation of a series of comparative studies between Hancornia and Hevea (clone RRIM 600) these two species by our research team, their thermal behavior was analyzed by thermogravimetry (TG) using Flynn–Wall–Ozawa’s approach in order to obtain kinetic parameters (reaction order, pre-exponential factor and activation energy) of the decomposition process. Results indicated that the thermal behavior of NR from Hancornia was comparable to Hevea with some differences observed as follows: reaction order for Hancornia was higher than for Hevea at the beginning of degradation and very close for temperatures over 350 °C; activation energy and pre-exponential factor had the same trend, i.e., increased with increasing degree of conversion remaining almost constant between 20 and 70% and then increasing for higher degrees, although Hevea was slightly more thermally stable than Hancornia. These major influences in the degradation process in the early stage are attributed to differences in non-rubber constituents present in these two species.  相似文献
