Copolymers of 2‐ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA) and cholesteryloxycarbonyl‐2‐hydroxymethacrylate (CEM) were prepared by reversible addition–fragmentation chain‐transfer (RAFT) polymerization. Supramolecular complexes of these copolymers with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were soluble in THF, toluene, and isooctane. The colloidal solutions remained stable for months without aggregation. The rationale for the choice of CEM was based on the high adsorption energy of cholesterol on the CNT surface, as computed by DFT calculations. Adsorption isotherms were experimentally measured for copolymers of various architectures (statistical, diblock, and star copolymers), thereby demonstrating that 2–5 cholesterol groups were adsorbed per polymer chain. Once the supramolecular complex had dried, the CNTs could be easily resolubilized in isooctane without the need for high‐power sonication and in the absence of added polymer. Analysis by atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) indicated that the CNTs were devoid of bundles. The supramolecular complexes could also be employed in an inverse emulsion polymerization of 2‐hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) in isooctane and dodecane, thereby leading to the formation of a continuous polymeric sheath around the CNTs. A methodology for the C−H azidation of N-terminal proline-containing peptides was developed employing only commercially available reagents. Peptides bearing a broad range of functionalities and containing up to 6 amino acids were selectively azidated at the carbamate-protected N-terminal residue in presence of the numerous other functional groups present on the molecules. We describe a technique to enhance both the weak-signal relative sensitivity and the dynamic range of a laser scanning optical microscope. The technique is based on maintaining a fixed detection power by fast feedback control of the illumination power, thereby transferring high measurement resolution to weak signals while virtually eliminating the possibility of image saturation. Thiol-mediated uptake is emerging as method of choice to penetrate cells. This study focuses on irreversible covalent inhibitors of thiol-mediated uptake. High-content high-throughput screening of the so far largest collection of hypervalent iodine reagents affords inhibitors that are more than 250 times more active than Ellman’s reagent and rival the best dynamic covalent inhibitors. Comparison with other irreversible reagents reveals that inhibition within one series follows reactivity, whereas inhibition across series deviates from reactivity. These trends support that molecular recognition, besides dynamic covalent exchange, contributes significantly to thiol-mediated uptake. The most powerful inhibitors besides the best hypervalent iodine reagents were Fukuyama’s nosyl protecting group and super-cinnamaldehydes that have been introduced as irreversible activators of the pain receptor TRPA1. Considering that several viruses use different forms of thiol-mediated uptake to enter cells, the identification of new irreversible inhibitors of thiol-mediated uptake is of general interest for the discovery of new antivirals. 相似文献

We report an Umpolung strategy of enol ethers to generate oxy‐allyl cation equivalents based on the use of hypervalent iodine reagents. Under mild basic conditions, the addition of nucleophiles to aryloxy‐substituted vinylbenziodoxolone (VBX) reagents, easily available in two steps from silyl alkynes, resulted in the stereoselective formation of substituted aryl enol ethers. The reaction was most efficient with phenols as nucleophiles, but preliminary results were also achieved for C‐ and N‐ nucleophiles. In absence of external nucleophiles, the 2‐iodobenzoate group of the reagent was transferred. The obtained aryl enol ethers could then be transformed into α‐difunctionalized ketones by oxidation. The described “allyl cation”‐like reactivity contrast with the well‐established “vinyl‐cation” behavior of alkenyl iodonium salts. 相似文献

Using molecular simulations, we study the processes of capillary condensation and capillary evaporation in model mesopores. To determine the phase transition pathway, as well as the corresponding free energy profile, we carry out enhanced sampling molecular simulations using entropy as a reaction coordinate to map the onset of order during the condensation process and of disorder during the evaporation process. The structural analysis shows the role played by intermediate states, characterized by the onset of capillary liquid bridges and bubbles. We also analyze the dependence of the free energy barrier on the pore width. Furthermore, we propose a method to build a machine learning model for the prediction of the free energy surfaces underlying capillary phase transition processes in mesopores. 相似文献

Silica nanoparticles of various sizes have
been incorporated by melt compounding in a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)
matrix to enhance its thermal and mechanical properties. In order to improve
