Monodisperse polymer particle-based separation media were prepared by a multi-step swelling and polymerization method with two pairs of monomers and two porogenic solvents. Their chromatographic properties were compared to those of beads prepared by a corresponding suspension polymerization method without the use of seed polymer to ascertain the influence of the seed polymer on their porous structures. A large change in porous structure was observed when the swollen particle consisting of monomers and porogenic solvents contained at least one good solvent for the polystyrene seed polymer, allowing it to remain in the polymerizing medium. In contrast, when the polystyrene seed particle was excluded from the swollen oil droplets, due to its poor solubility in the monomers and the porogenic solvents, there was no difference in the chromatographic properties such as pore volume, pore size, pore size distribution, or retention selectivity between the multi-step swelling and polymerization method and the suspension polymerization method. Since the only difference between the multi-step swelling and polymerization method and the suspension method is the use of the seed polymer, it appears that a very small amount (< 1% v/v) of seed polymers in the enlarged swollen droplets plays an important role as a porogen and affects the porous structure as well as the chromatographic properties of the monodisperse polymer particle-based separation media. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We prove some Hardy type inequalities related to the Dirac operator by elementary methods, for a large class of potentials, which even includes measure valued potentials. Optimality is achieved by the Coulomb potential. When potentials are smooth enough, our estimates provide some spectral information on the operator.  相似文献

We analyze some cases for which the Pollak–Grabert–Hänggi theory on the activated rate processes for generalized Langevin dynamics exhibits unexplained disagreements with numerical results. First we analyze carefully the PGH theory and we show that a kind of Markovian hypothesis implicitly made in the reasoning is sometimes violated. Then we propose modifications of the original theory in order to take into account the possible effects caused by this violation, and we compare the corrected results with simulations.  相似文献

This paper deals with existence results for a Vlasov-Poisson system, equipped with an absorbing-type law for the Vlasov equation and a Dirichlet-type boundary condition for the Poisson part. Using the ideas of Lions and Perthame [21], we prove the existence of a weak solution having good Lp estimates for moment and electric field, by a good control on the higher moments of the initial data. As an application, we establish a homogenization result in the Hilbertian framework for this type of problem in non-homogeneous media, following the work by Alexandre and Hamdache [2] for general kinetic equations, and Cioranescu and Mural [11] for the Laplace problem.  相似文献

A new naphthoquinone, 11-hydroxy-1,9-dimethyl-6H-naphtho[2′,3′:4,5]furo[3,2-c]chromene-6,7,12-trione, named crassiflorone, was isolated from the stem bark of Diospyros crassiflora together with the known compounds plumbagin, cyclocanaliculatin, gerberinol, lupeol, lupenone and betulinic acid. The structures of the compounds were established on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data, as well as co-TLC with authentic samples. Some of the above compounds exhibited significant antimicrobial activity against bacteria and yeasts.  相似文献

Styrene has been polymerized by a Quinone Transfer Radical Polymerization (QTRP) based on the redox reaction of an ortho‐quinone and a metal catalyst. Several metal acetylacetonates have been tested in this work. The radical polymerization of styrene is largely controlled when phenanthrenequinone (PhQ) is used with catalytic amounts of Co(acac)2, Ni(acac)2, Mn(acac)2 or 3, and Al(acac)3. As a rule, in the presence of all these metallic complexes, the polystyrene molar mass increases with the monomer conversion, and polydispersity (Mw/Mn) is in the 1.3–1.6 range (at least until 40% monomer conversion). Styrene polymerization has also been resumed by polystyrene chains prepared by QTRP. In the specific case of manganese acetylacetonates, an amine or phosphine ligand has to be added for the control to be effective. Finally, two mechanistic hypotheses have been proposed, depending on whether the oxidation state of the metal can be easily changed or not. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
