ABSTRACT

Here we report on the synthesis and mesomorphic properties of a series of imino-linked dimeric molecules. In order to improve our understanding of the structure–NTB phase correlations, we have studied the impact of geometric and electronic factors arising from varying mesogenic units, different spacer lengths and from the ratio (n/m) between the lengths of terminal chains (n) and spacer (m). From the perspective of the molecular geometry, the results show that the stability of the NTB phase results from increasing effective molecular bending and with the broadening of the mesogenic unit, in particular near the spacer, and that the n/m ratio plays a substantial role in conjunction with the specific mesogenic unit. A computational study of the electronic properties shows that a broadening of the mesogenic core in the vicinity of the spacer is associated with an increased anisotropy of the electrostatic potential distribution. Within a given series of materials our study suggests that the incidence of the NTB phase and its thermal stability are governed by the synergy of specific geometrical factors and the anisotropy of the electrostatic potential distribution of the mesogenic core.  相似文献

We report on the stabilisation of the liquid-crystalline, twist-grain boundary A (TGBA) phase in mixtures of a chiral liquid crystal and surface-functionalised spherical Au nanoparticles (NPs) of 10 nm diameter. The results, obtained by calorimetric, optical, small-angle X-ray and plasmon resonance measurements, demonstrate that a TGBA phase, which is metastable for the pure liquid crystal host, can be effectively stabilised for a 3 K range in the presence of NPs. Moreover, the role of NPs size on the TGBA stabilisation is briefly discussed.  相似文献

The authors describe a fluorescence immunoassay for galectin-4, a candidate biomarker for various cancers. Glucose oxidase was encapsulated into a zeolitic imidazolate framework to give a composite (GOx/ZIF-8 composite) that acts as a signal-transduction tag via a biomimetic mineralization process. After modification of the composite with streptavidin, it binds biotinylated antibody against galectin-4. In the immunoassay, the response to galectin-4 results from the enzymatic oxidation of glucose. This reaction produces hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) that reacts with iron(II) ions to generate hydroxy radical (?OH), which leads to the quenching of the fluorescence of gold nanoclusters (AuNCs). Accordingly, the fluorescence quenching of AuNCs depends on the concentration of target galectin-4. The GOx/ZIF-8 composite has a high loading capacity for GOx at uncompromised enzymatic activity. The fluorescence of AuNCs is sensitively quenched by ?OH radicals. Galectin-4 can be detected by this method in concentrations as low as 10 pg·mL?1. It is expected that this kind of enzyme/MOF composite-based immunoassay has a wide scope in that it may be adapted to other low-abundance proteins and biomarkers.

The Co–Mg–Al mixed metal oxides were prepared by calcination of co-precipitated hydrotalcite-like precursors at various temperatures (600–800 °C), characterised with respect to chemical (AAS) and phase (XRD) composition, textural parameters (BET), form and aggregation of cobalt species (UV–vis-DRS) and their redox properties (H2-TPR, cyclic voltammetry). Moreover, the process of thermal decomposition of hydrotalcite-like materials to mixed metal oxide systems was studied by thermogravimetric method combined with the analysis of gaseous decomposition products by mass spectrometry. Calcined hydrotalcite-like materials were tested as catalysts for methanol incineration. Catalytic performance of the oxides depended on cobalt content, Mg/Al ratio and calcination temperature. The catalysts with lower cobalt content, higher Mg/Al ratio and calcined at lower temperatures (600 or 700 °C) were less effective in the process of methanol incineration. In a series of the studied catalysts, the best results, with respect to high catalytic activity and selectivity to CO2, were obtained for the mixed oxide with Co:Mg:Al molar ratio of 10:57:33 calcined at 800 °C. High activity of this catalyst was likely connected with the presence of a Co–Mg–Al spinel-type phases, containing easy reducible Co3+ cations, formed during high-temperature treatment of the hydrotalcite-like precursor.  相似文献

Excitation of electronic states of the N2 molecule by electron impact is recognized as an essential process in nitrogen plasmas that strongly impacts their chemical reactivity and other properties. Many surface and coating technologies are based on radio-frequency plasma discharges in nitrogen. In this paper the electron impact excitation rate coefficients for singlet and triplet electronic states of the N2 molecule have been calculated in non-equilibrium conditions in the presence of a radio-frequency electric field. A Monte Carlo simulation has been performed in order to determine non-equilibrium electron energy distribution functions within one period of the electric field. By using these distribution functions, the excitation rate coefficients have been obtained in the frequency range from 13.56 up to 500 MHz, at reduced electric field values from 200 to 700 Td.  相似文献

A sensitive voltammetric method for the determination of pyrogallol (PY) was developed employing a boron-doped diamond electrode (BDDE). The composition of the supporting electrolyte was investigated during the development of the methodology. Linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) under the optimized experimental conditions was applied for PY determination with a limit of detection and limit of quantification of 0.85 and 2.82 μmol L?1, respectively. These values are satisfactory for application to real samples. The usability of this method for the quantification of pyrogallol was in range from 2.82 to 296.00 μmol L?1. Finally, the developed method was successfully used for the analysis of real samples of biodiesel produced from rapeseed oil and its blend with diesel fuel. Samples of biodiesel and biodiesel blends were analyzed directly in an electrochemical cell, while samples with very low concentrations of PY in biodiesel were extracted with water using the proposed simple and fast process.  相似文献

The electrodegradation of azithromycin was studied by its indirect oxidation using dimensionally stable Ti/RuO2 anode as catalyst in the electrolyte containing methanol, 0.05 M NaHCO3, sodium chloride and deionized water. The optimal conditions for galvanostatic electrodegradation for the azithromycin concentration of 0.472 mg cm?3 were found to be NaCl concentration of 7 mg cm?3 and the applied current of 300 mA. The differential pulse voltammetry using glassy carbon electrode was performed for the first time in the above-mentioned content of electrolyte for the nine concentration of azithromycin (0.075–0.675 mg cm?3) giving the limits of azithromycin detection and of quantification as: LOD 0.044 mg cm?3 and LOQ 0.145 mg cm?3. The calibration curve was constructed enabling the electrolyte analysis during its electrodegradation process. The electrolyte was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The electrooxidation products were identified and after 180 min there was no azithromycin in the electrolyte while TOC analysis showed that 79% of azithromycin was mineralized. The proposed degradation scheme is presented.  相似文献

New centrosymmetric trinuclear zinc(II) complex {[Zn(μ-ONN)(μ2-O)(μ-OO)]2Zn} has been synthesized by the reaction of a potentially ONN tridentate Schiff base ligand, and N,N-dimethylethylendiamin, with Zn(OAc)2·2H2O in methanol, in the refluxed conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and UV–Vis spectroscopy. Single crystal X-ray structure analysis reveals a trinuclear complex {[Zn(μ-ONN)(μ2-O)(μ-OO)]2Zn} with zinc(II) ions connected by three different bridges, (μ-ONN) of the Schiff base ligand, μ2-O and μ-OO of the acetate. The complex is centrosymmetric, with one of the Zn atoms located at the inversion center. While the central Zn(II) ion is six-coordinated, the coordination number of the other Zn(II) ions is five. Finally, the {[Zn(μ-ONN)(μ2-O)(μ-OO)]2Zn} complex was thermally decomposed in air at 700 °C resulted in ZnO nano crystalites with the average size of 42 nm. The antibacterial activity of ligand and its zinc(II) complex were tested against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The ligand showed higher activity than its zinc(II) complex.  相似文献

Call an \((\{a,b\};k)\)-map lego-admissible if either \(\frac{p_b}{p_a}\), or \(\frac{p_a}{p_b}\) is integer. Call it lego-like if it is either \(ab^f\)-lego map, or \(a^fb\)-lego map, i.e., the face-set is partitioned into \(\min (p_a,p_b)\) isomorphic clusters, legos, consisting either one a-gon and \(f=\frac{p_b}{p_a}\,b\)-gons, or, respectively, \(f=\frac{p_a}{p_b}\,a\)-gons and one b-gon; the case \(f=1\) we denote also by ab. Call a \((\{a,b\};k)\)-map elliptic, parabolic or hyperbolic if the curvature \(\kappa _b=1+\frac{b}{k}-\frac{b}{2}\) of b-gons is positive, zero or negative, respectively. There are 14 lego-like elliptic \((\{a,b\};k)\)-\({\mathbb {S}}^2\) with \((a,b)\ne (1,2)\). No \((\{1,3\};6)\)-\({\mathbb {S}}^2\) is lego-admissible. For other 7 families of parabolic \((\{a,b\};k)\)-\({\mathbb {S}}^2\), each lego-admissible sphere with \(p_a\le p_b\) is \(a^fb\) and an infinity (by Goldberg–Coxeter operation) of \(ab^f\)-spheres exist. The number of hyperbolic \(ab^f\,(\{a,b\};k)\)-\({\mathbb {S}}^2\) with \((a,b)\ne (1,3)\) is finite. Past tests of nuclear weapons in the atmosphere, nuclear energy facilities and tritium of natural origin are main sources of tritium in the environment. Thanks to its presence in environment and its favourable properties, tritium is used as a radiotracer. Since stopping of atmospheric nuclear tests, tritium in precipitation has been decreasing towards natural levels below 1 Bq l?1 and precise analyses of low level tritium activities are necessary. This paper focuses on tritium development at sites not influenced by any technogenic release of tritium in Elbe River basin (Bohemia) in the Czech Republic using liquid scintillation measurement with electrolytic enrichment.  相似文献
