Even systems in which strong electron correlation effects are present, such as the large near-degeneracy correlation in a dissociating electron pair bond exemplified by stretched H2, are represented in the Kohn–Sham (KS) model of non-interacting electrons by a determinantal wavefunction built from the KS molecular orbitals. As a contribution to the discussion on the status and meaning of the KS orbitals we investigate, for the prototype system of H2 at large bond distance, and also for a one-dimensional molecular model, how the electron correlation effects show up in the shape of the KS σ g orbital. KS orbitals φHL and φFCI obtained from the correlated Heitler-London and full configuration interaction wavefunctions are compared to the orbital φLCAO, the traditional linear combination of atomic orbitals (LCAO) form of the (approximate) Hartree-Fock orbital. Electron correlation manifests itself in an essentially non-LCAO structure of the KS orbitals φHL and φFCI around the bond midpoint, which shows up particularly clearly in the Laplacian of the KS orbital. There are corresponding features in the kinetic energy density t s of the KS system (a well around the bond midpoint) and in the one-electron KS potential v s (a peak). The KS features are lacking in the Hartree-Fock orbital, in a minimal LCAO approximation as well as in the exact one. Received: 11 December 1996 / Accepted: 10 January 1997  相似文献

Sucrose density gradient centrifugation of a microsomal membrane fraction of cauliflower inflorescences showed a strong correlation between a blue light mediated cytochrome b reduction (LIAC) and an ion stimulated nitrate-insensitive but a vanadate-sensitive ATPase activity at 38-40% sucrose. LIAC activity and vanadate-sensitive ATPase might be assigned to the same type of membrane different from ER, Golgi, tonoplast and mitochondria. The Mg2+-dependent ATP-hydrolytic activity obtained after purification of the microsomal fraction on an aqueous polymer two phase system was partially characterized. Temperature optimum (40°C), pH optimum (pH 7.0), vanadate inhibition (I50 at 20 μ M ), substrate kinetics ( K m= 1.37 m M Mg.ATP) and inhibitor studies all point to the presence of the frequently described plasma membrane ATPase. Potassium and Na+ stimulated the enzyme activity (20-40%). In general our data arc strongly in favour of the hypothesis that LIAC activity is localized on the plant plasma membrane. The cytochrome b involved in the light reaction has a midpoint potential near +150 mV. This cytochrome which has been previously shown in a cauliflower microsomal fraction is a constituent of the plasma membrane.  相似文献

Potential energy surfaces for rotations around two central CN bonds in N-(deoxyguanosin-8-yl)-2-acetylaminofluorene (AAF–dG) and its deacetylated derivative (AF–dG) were studied using Amber 95 molecular mechanics. Both of these adducts are known to be strong mutagens and carcinogens. New Amber 95 force field parameters were derived for the linkage connecting guanine and fluorene moieties in AAF–dG and AF–dG. For this purpose, we determined ab initio MP2/cc-pVDZ//B3-LYP/6-31G* and polarized continuum model Hartree–Fock/6-31G* potential energy surfaces of smaller model systems that included the N-methylimidazole–acetylaniline and N-methylimidazole–aniline adducts. The molecular mechanics parameters were adjusted to minimize differences between the gas-phase ab initio and molecular mechanics surfaces of these model systems. The resulting parameters were transferred to AF–dG and AAF–dG. The barrier for the rotation of the fluorene residue in AF–dG was found to be less than 2 kcal/mol. Such a small barrier renders the fluorene moiety freely rotatable at room temperature. In contrast, the fluorene rotation in AAF–dG is hindered by a significantly larger barrier of 10 kcal/mol. This barrier corresponds to conformations in which the fluorene and acetyl groups lie in the same plane, and is largely due to steric repulsion. Similarly, the coplanar arrangement of guanine and the bridging amino or acetyl groups is disfavored by 5–10 kcal/mol, with AAF–dG again being the more rigid of the two molecules. Energy minima for a rotation around a bond between guanine and the bridging nitrogen are found at ±80° in AAF–dG, and at 120° and –90° for AF–dG. Overall, the fluorene–dG linkages in AF–dG and AAF–dG adducts have significantly different equilibrium structures and torsional flexibilities. A method is provided for the recognition of glycated molecules based on their binding affinities to boronate-carrying monolayers. The affinity interaction of flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) with phenylboronic acid monolayers on gold was investigated by using voltammetric and microgravimetric methods. Conjugates of 3-aminophenylboronic acid and 3,3'-dithiodipropionic acid di(N-hydroxysuccinimide ester) or 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid were prepared and self-assembled on gold surfaces to generate monolayers. FAD is bound to this modified surface and recognized by a pair of redox peaks with a formal potential of -0.433 V in a 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution, pH 6.5. Upon addition of a sugar to the buffer, the bound FAD could be replaced, indicating that the binding is reversible. Voltammetric, mass measurements, and photometric activity assays show that the HRP can also be bound to the interface. This binding is reversible, and HRP can be replaced by sorbitol or removed in acidic solution. The effects of pH, incubation time, and concentration of H(2)O(2) were studied by comparing the catalytic reduction of H(2)O(2) in the presence of the electron-donor thionine. The catalytic current of the HRP-loaded electrode was proportional to HRP concentrations in the incubation solution in the range between 5 microg mL(-1) and 0.1 mg mL(-1) with a linear slope of 3.34 microA mL mg(-1) and a correlation coefficient of 0.9945.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] A fluorine-labeled selenide linker for installing terminal isolated olefins has been synthesized in high overall yield. The resin-bound linker could be glycosylated both with glycosyl trichloroacetimidates and glycosyl fluorides. The linker did not decompose after oxidation with tBuOOH but underwent beta-elimination when it was subjected to heat. This allowed the released n-pentenyl glycoside 15 to be isolated in excellent yield and purity after filtration.  相似文献

Light-harvesting complex I (LHCI), which serves as a peripheral antenna for photosystem I (PSI) in green plants, consists mainly of four polypeptides, Lhca1-4. We report room temperature emission properties of individual reconstituted monomeric Lhca proteins (Lhca1, -2, -3, and -4) and dimeric Lhca1/4, performed by steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence techniques. The emission quantum yields of the samples are approximately 0.12, 0.085, 0.081, 0.041, and 0.063 for Lhca1, -2, -3, -4, and the -1/4 dimer, respectively, which is considerably lower than the value of 0.22 found for light-harvesting complex II (LHCII), the main peripheral antenna complex of photosystem II in green plants. The decay components of LHCI proteins can be divided in two categories: Lhca1 and Lhca3 have decay times of 1.1-1.6 ns and 3.3-3.6 ns, and Lhca2 and Lhca4 have decay times of 0.7-0.9 ns and 3.1-3.2 ns. These categories seem to correlate with the pigment composition of the samples. All decay times are faster than that observed previously for LHCII. When the absolute emission yields and the lifetimes of the Lhca samples are combined, the overall emission properties of the individual Lhca proteins are expressed in terms of their emitting dipole moment strength. In the samples without extreme red states, that is, Lhca1 and Lhca2, the emitting dipole moment has a value close to unity (relative to monomeric chlorophyll in acetone), which is similar to that for LHCII, whereas, in the samples with the red-most state (F-730), that is, Lhca3, -4, and the -1/4 dimer, the emitting dipole moment has a value less than unity (0.6-0.8), which can be explained by mixing the red-most (exciton) state with a dark charge-transfer state, as suggested in previous PSI red pigment studies. In addition, we find a lifetime component of approximately 50-150 ps in all red-pigment-containing samples, which cannot be due to "slow" energy transfer, but is instead assigned to an unrelaxed state of the pigment-protein, which, on this time-scale, is converted into the final emitting state.  相似文献

Raman optical activity (ROA) spectra recorded for a chiral naphthalene diimide derivative (nBu-NDI–BINAM) dissolved in a series of solvents exhibit strong solute to solvent induced chirality with: (1) dominating bands of solvents, (2) nBu-NDI–BINAM resonance ROA (RROA) bands which are barely visible, (3) monosignate RROA Solvent spectra with an unexpected sign concordant with that of the ECD band of the resonant electronic state, (4) bisignate RROA bands for a few solvents, and (5) superposition of non-resonant and resonant ROA bands of the chiral solvents. The unusual ROA enhancement was explained in terms of resonance energy transfer with resonant Raman emission. The surprising RROA sign-switching was found to be due to specific conformational equilibria where one solute conformer dominates in the ground and the other in the first excited singlet state, and, the signs of the related ECD bands of these two conformers are opposite.

Molecular dynamics simulations of metastable ice VII and cubic ice Ic are carried out in order to examine (1) the ability of commonly used water interaction potentials to reproduce the properties of ices, and (2) the possibility of generating low-density amorphous (LDA) structures by heating ice VII, which is known to transform to LDA at approximately 135 K at normal pressure [S. Klotz, J. M. Besson, G. Hamel, R. J. Nelmes, J. S. Loveday, and W. G. Marshall, Nature (London) 398, 681 (1999)]. We test four simple empirical interaction potentials of water: TIP4P [W. L. Jorgensen, J. Chandrasekhar, J. D. Madura, R. W. Impey, and M. L. Klein, J. Chem. Phys. 79, 926 (1983)], SPC/E [H. J. C. Berendsen, J. R. Grigera, and T. P. Straatsma, J. Phys. Chem. B 91, 6269 (1987)], TIP5P [M. W. Mahoney and W. L. Jorgensen, J. Chem. Phys. 112, 8910 (2000)], and ST2 [F. H. Stillinger and A. Rahman, J. Chem. Phys. 60, 1545 (1974)]. We have found that TIP5P ice VII melts at 210 K, TIP4P at 90 K, and SPC/E at 70 K. Only TIP5P water after transition has a structure similar to that of LDA. TIP4P and SPC/E have almost identical structures, dissimilar to any known water or amorphous phases, but upon heating both slowly evolve towards LDA-like structure. ST2 ice VII is remarkably stable up to 430 K. TIP4P and SPC/E predict correctly the cubic ice collapse into a high-density amorphous ice (HDA) at approximately 1 GPa whereas TIP5P remains stable up to approximately 5 GPa. The densities of the simulated ice phases differ significantly, depending on the potential used, and are generally higher than experimental values. The importance of proper treatment of long-range electrostatic interactions is also discussed.  相似文献
