The next generation of microelectronic devices will require design of new kinds of polymers which are tailored to display a dielectric constant as low as 2.0, a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) which matches the metal circuitry as well as the silicon substrate, moisture and chemical resistance, and dimensional stability at processing temperatures of 300-400°C which are required to form an adhesive bond between laminates. In our program, we have made significant progress in all of these areas through the use of liquid crystalline copolyesters (LCP's) laminated with a newly developed crosslinkable copolyester. In this paper, data are presented which illustrate how films and coatings of either system can be made to adhere in the solid state by interchain transesterification reactions (ITR) at the interface. Ability to foam the crosslinkable copolyester films provides direct control over the dielectric constant. The effect of pore size and distribution on the dielectric constant will be discussed. The potential to dramatically increase the melting point of the LCP's through high temperature annealing is also discussed.  相似文献

A new NMR-based method for the discrimination of olive oils of any grade from seed oils and mixtures thereof was developed with the aim of allowing the verification of olive oil authenticity. Ten seed oils and seven monovarietal and blended extra virgin olive oils were utilized to develop a principal component analysis (PCA) based analysis of 1H NMR spectra to rapidly and accurately determine the authenticity of olive oils. Another twenty-eight olive oils were utilized to test the principal component analysis (PCA) based analysis. Detection of seed oil adulteration levels as low as 5% v/v has been shown using simple one-dimensional proton spectra obtained using a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a room temperature inverse probe. The combination of simple sample preparation, rapid sample analysis, novel processing parameters, and easily interpreted results, makes this method an easily accessible tool for olive oil fraud detection by substitution or dilution compared to other methods already published.  相似文献

The application of natural products and supplements has expanded tremendously over the past few decades. Clinacanthus nutans (C. nutans), which is affiliated to the Acanthaceae family, has recently caught the interest of researchers from the countries of subtropical Asia due to its medicinal uses in alternative treatment for skin infection conditions due to insect bites, microorganism infections and cancer, as well as for health well-being. A number of bioactive compounds from this plant’s extract, namely phenolic compounds, sulphur containing compounds, sulphur containing glycosides compounds, terpens-tripenoids, terpens-phytosterols and chlorophyll-related compounds possess high antioxidant activities. This literature search yielded about one hundred articles which were then further documented, including the valuable data and findings obtained from all accessible electronic searches and library databases. The promising pharmacological activities from C. nutans leaves extract, including antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-venom, analgesic and anti-nociceptive properties were meticulously dissected. Moreover, the authors also discuss a few of the pharmacological aspect of C. nutans leaves extracts against anti-hyperlipidemia, vasorelaxation and renoprotective activities, which are seldom available from the previously discussed review papers. From the aspect of toxicological studies, controversial findings have been reported in both in-vitro and in-vivo experiments. Thus, further investigations on their phytochemical compounds and their mode of action showing pharmacological activities are required to fully grasp both traditional usage and their suitability for future drugs development. Data related to therapeutic activity and the constituents of C. nutans leaves were searched by using the search engines Google scholar, PubMed, Scopus and Science Direct, and accepting literature reported between 2010 to present. On the whole, this review paper compiles all the available contemporary data from this subtropical herb on its phytochemistry and pharmacological activities with a view towards garnering further interest in exploring its use in cardiovascular and renal diseases.  相似文献

Polymers substituted with thio groups are useful for the photochemical synthesis of graft copolymers. Such copolymers have been prepared by the initial conversion of backbone polymers containing chlorinated substituents into polymers containing diethyldithiocarbamate (TC), isopropyl xanthate (IX) or mercaptobenzothiazole (BT) functionality. The photochemical reaction of monomers with these products produced graft copolymers. A variety of halogenated polymers were investigated as starting materials for these syntheses, including poly(vinyl chloride), chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), chlorinated polyethylene, chlorobutyl rubber and neoprene. Characteristics of the grafting reactions, including “pseudo-living” behavior and tandem grafting aspects, were investigated. Glass transitions of the grafted polymers were found to vary uniformly with composition for most of the grafted products.  相似文献

The polymer industry in the world has grown from about 15 million pounds in 1923 to over 60 billion pounds in 1990 representing a compound annual growth rate of 15% for nearly 70 years. This dynamic behavior will continue in the 21st century. However, the growth will be faster in the developing nations than inthe developed nations. The basis for this projection of continued growth is provided by looking at the estimated per capita consumption of polymers for different regions of the world shown in Figure 1.  相似文献

A study of the reactions between methyltrichlorosilane (MeSiCl3) and octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) in the presence of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (HOTf) showed that nucleophilic substitution in CHCl3 solution at the trifunctional silicon was surprisingly slow in comparison with the rate of equilibration/polymerization of D4. The reaction rate at MeSiCl3 was significantly faster with water present and faster still in THF. In these reactions, there was no evidence for SiOH groups (29Si NMR), even in the presence of excess water. The overriding criterion for relative reactivity toward nucleophilic substitution under strongly acidic conditions is the relative leaving group ability of the groups on silicon. Once MeSiCl3 begins to participate in the redistribution reactions, mono- 3 and tri- 5 , but not di-substituted 4 systems are formed (MeSiCl3−x(DnSiMe2Z (Z = OTf, Cl))x, x = 1, 3), likely through an intramolecular reaction. The mechanisms of nucleophilic substitution at silicon under these conditions are discussed.  相似文献

The administration of toxin-specific therapy in snake envenoming is predicated on improved diagnostic techniques capable of detecting specific venom toxins. Various serological tests have been used in detecting snakebite envenoming. Comparatively, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has been shown to offer a wider practical application. We report an inhibition ELISA for detecting three-finger toxin (3FTx) proteins in venoms of African spitting cobras. The optimized assay detected 3FTxs in N. ashei (including other Naja sp.) venoms, spiked samples, and venom-challenged mice samples. In venoms of Naja sp., the assay showed inhibition, implying the detection of 3FTxs, but showed little or no inhibition in non-Naja sp. In mice-spiked samples, one-way ANOVA results showed that the observed inhibition was not statistically significant between spiked samples and negative control (p-value = 0.164). Similarly, the observed differences in inhibition between venom-challenged and negative control samples were not statistically significant (p-value = 0.9109). At an LOD of 0.01 µg/mL, the assay was able to confirm the presence of 3FTxs in the samples. Our results show a proof of concept for the use of an inhibition ELISA model as a tool for detecting 3FTxs in the venoms of African spitting cobra snakes.  相似文献

Multiphase flow in porous media is strongly influenced by the pore-scale arrangement of fluids. Reservoir-scale constitutive relationships capture these effects in a phenomenological way, relying only on fluid saturation to characterize the macroscopic behavior. Working toward a more rigorous framework, we make use of the fact that the momentary state of such a system is uniquely characterized by the geometry of the pore-scale fluid distribution. We consider how fluids evolve as they undergo topological changes induced by pore-scale displacement events. Changes to the topology of an object are fundamentally discrete events. We describe how discontinuities arise, characterize the possible topological transformations and analyze the associated source terms based on geometric evolution equations. Geometric evolution is shown to be hierarchical in nature, with a topological source term that constrains how a structure can evolve with time. The challenge associated with predicting topological changes is addressed by constructing a universal geometric state function that predicts the possible states based on a non-dimensional relationship with two degrees of freedom. The approach is validated using fluid configurations from both capillary and viscous regimes in ten different porous media with porosity between 0.10 and 0.38. We show that the non-dimensional relationship is independent of both the material type and flow regime. We demonstrate that the state function can be used to predict history-dependent behavior associated with the evolution of the Euler characteristic during two-fluid flow.
