[reaction: see text] Oxidation of alkyl and cycloalkyl arenes with tert-butyl hydroperoxide catalyzed by bismuth and picolinic acid in pyridine and acetic acid gave the corresponding benzylic ketones (48-99%). Alternatively, oxidation of methyl arenes gave the corresponding substituted benzoic acids (50-95%). Preliminary mechanistic studies were consistent with a radical mechanism rather than a bismuth(III)-bismuth(V) cycle.  相似文献

Competitive ion-dipole, ion-water, and water-water interactions were investigated at the molecular level in M+ (CH3CN)n(H2O)m cluster ions for M = Na and K. Different [n,m] combinations for two different n + m cluster sizes were characterized with infrared predissociation spectroscopy in the O-H stretch region and MP2 calculations. In all cases, no differences were observed between the two alkali metal ions. The results showed that at the n + m = 4 cluster size, the solvent molecules interact only with the ion, and that the interaction between the ion and the large dipole moment of CH3CN decreases the ion-water electrostatic interactions. At the n + m = 5 cluster size, at least two different hydrogen-bonded structures were identified. In these structures, the ion-dipole interaction weakens the ability of the ion to polarize the hydrogen bonds and thus decreases the strength of the water-water interactions in the immediate vicinity of the alkali metal ion.  相似文献

High-resolution translational-energy spectroscopy (up to 0.1 eV) has been carried out on 8
V beams of NO? and NO2?. Several features in the spectrum of NO4 are assigned to the transitions within the triplet manifold of this ion. The observed transitions originate in several excited electronic states, indicating long lifetimes (> 10 μs) for the states involved. Two electronic transitions in NO2' have been observed at low energies which are attributed to excitations to the first two excited states of this ion.  相似文献

The proton NMR spectra of two (13)C-labeled isotopomers of styrene dissolved in two liquid crystalline solvents have been obtained and analyzed to yield four sets each of 24 dipolar couplings. These couplings were then used to investigate the structure of the ring and the ene fragments of the molecule, and the position of the maximum, phi(0), in the ring-ene bond rotational probability distribution. To do this, the effect on the dipolar couplings of small-amplitude vibrational motion was taken into account using vibrational wave functions calculated by molecular orbital and density functional methods. It is concluded that the NMR data are consistent with the ring fragment, averaged over the ring-ene rotation, planar, while the ene fragment is not. The value of phi(0) is found to be 18.0 degrees +/-0.2 degrees for the two solutions, compared with a value of 27 degrees calculated by the molecular method MP2/6-31G(*).  相似文献

β-Nitrostyrene and many of its derivatives have been shown to yield high polymers via anionic initiation with alkoxide ions in protic solvents, e.g., alcohols. A study was conducted to determine the effect of certain substituents on the polymerization characteristics of representative monomers of this series and the properties of their polymers. A kinetic study was conducted and the relative rates of propagation were unexpectedly found to correlate well with brown's σ+ values. The rates of initiation of two representative monomers, β-nitrostyrene and p-methoxy-β-nitrostyrene, with sodium ethoxide were found to be 3.51 and 2.86 liter/mole sec, respectively. The rate of chain transfer in ethanol was studied qualitatively by using gel-permeation chromatography (GPC) to obtain molecular weight distribution (MWD) curves. The low values of the M w/M n ratios indicated little chain transfer in the protic solvent.  相似文献

The absorption spectra of Ru(2,2′-bipyridine)2 (2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid)2+ (I) and its diethyl ester (II) are closely related and are both significantly different from the spectra of the mono-protonated (Ia) and deprotonated (Ib) complexes. Luminescence polarization measurements show that for I and II the luminescent states have the transferred electron in the bipy-4,4′(COOH)2 and bipy-4,4′(COOEt)2 ligands, respectively, rather than in the unsubstituted bipy ligands.  相似文献

The title intermediate (3a) is produced on photolysis of hexakis(2,6-diethyl-phenyl)cyclotrigermane (1) or bis(2,6-diethylphenyl)bis(trimethylsilyl)germane (4) as evidenced by trapping experiments, and thermally dimerizes to tetrakis(2,6-diethyl-phenyl)digermene (2a). We have investigated the frequency-dependent interfacial electrical properties of nanocrystalline diamond films that were covalently linked to DNA oligonucleotides and how these properties are changed upon exposure to complementary and noncomplementary DNA oligonucleotides. Frequency-dependent electrical measurements at the open-circuit potential show significant changes in impedance at frequencies of >10(4) Hz when DNA-modified diamond films are exposed to complementary DNA, with only minimal changes when exposed to noncomplementary DNA molecules. Measurements as a function of potential show that at 10(5) Hz, the impedance is dominated by the space-charge region of the diamond film. DNA molecules hybridizing at the interface induce a field effect in the diamond space-charge layer, altering the impedance of the diamond film. By identifying a range of impedances where the impedance is dominated by the diamond space-charge layer, we show that it possible to directly observe DNA hybridization, in real time and without additional labels, via simple measurement of the interfacial impedance.  相似文献

The photochemistry of 11 substituted allyl 4-X- and 3-X-aryl ethers 3 (ArOCH2-CH=CH2) has been examined in both methanol and cyclohexane as solvents. The ethers react by the photo-Claisen rearrangement to give allyl substituted phenols as the major primary photoproducts, as expected from the well-established radical pair mechanism. The excited singlet state properties (absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra, fluorescence quantum yields, and singlet lifetimes) were compared with a parallel set of unreactive 4-X- and 3-X-anisoles 4. The excited-state properties of three substituted 4-X-aryl 4-(1-butenyl) ethers 14 (ArOCH2CH2-CH=CH2) were also examined. The model compounds 4 and the reactive allyl ethers 3 have essentially identical rate constants for the excited-state processes with the exception of, the rate constant for homolytic cleavage from S(1) of the allyl ethers to give the radical pair. The difference between the fluorescence quantum yields and/or singlet lifetimes for 3 and 4 were used to obtain values of for all of the allyl ethers. These values exhibit a large substituent effect, spanning almost 2 orders of magnitude with electron-donating groups (CH3O, CH3) accelerating the reaction and electron-withdrawing ones (CN, CF3) slowing it down. The parallel range of rate constants observed in both methanol and cyclohexane indicates that ion pairs are not important intermediates in these rearrangements. Quantum yields of reaction (Phi(r)) for several of the more reactive ethers demonstrate that neither these values nor rate constants of reaction derived from them are reliable measures of the actual excited-state process. In fact, the values are significantly lower than the ones, indicating that the radical pairs undergo recombination to generate starting material. Finally, the rate constants were found to parallel a trend for the change in bond dissociation energy (deltaBDE) for the O-C (allyl) bond of the allyl ethers, indicating that other possible substituent effects are of minor importance.  相似文献
