Summary Hydrazine, an oxygen scavenger in boiler water, was derivatised to the corresponding acetone azine and determined at the ng ml–1 level by gas chromatography. Morpholine, a corrosion inhibitor used in steam boilers, was estimated either directly (if >2.0 g ml–1) or by quantitative preconcentration (0.1 ng – 2.0 g ml–1). To obtain symmetrical peaks for these amines, the column packing was coated with KOH. Use of a nitrogen-specific detector improved accuracy of estimation of hydrazine and morpholine, giving a RSD of 1.9–3.6%. Chromatographic analysis of these amines in boiler feed water and steam condensate samples collected from boilers servicing a petroleum refinery is described. Environmental safety regulations calls for monitoring of hydrazine and the methods developed can easily be adapted for this purpose. 相似文献

The electronic absorption and fluorescence spectra of some biologically active natural flavones have been recorded at room temperature (298 K) in solvents of different polarities. The effects of the solvents upon the spectral properties are discussed. Difference in fluorescence intensity of flavones has been explained on the basis of intersystem crossing and degree of non-planarity calculated theoretically using Austin Model 1 (AM1) method. Excited-state dipole moments have been determined using the solvatochromic method based on the microscopic solvent polarity parameter, E(N)(T). A reasonable agreement has been observed between experimental and AM1 calculated dipole moment changes. Our results are found to be quite reliable in view of the fact that the correlation of the solvatochromic Stokes shifts with microscopic solvent polarity parameter, E(N)(T) is superior to that obtained using bulk solvent polarity functions for all the systems studied here. 相似文献

Polarography of indium(III) in alkali and alkaline earth nitrates
Polarographic behavior of Indium(III) in several nitrates of varying concentrations has been studied and resuts interpreted in the light of factors viscosity, diffusion coefficients and ion solvation. The apparent rate constants were determined byDelahay's treatment which revealed its quasireversible behavior.

Acacetin (4) on reaction with prenyl bromide in the presence of methanolic sodium methoxide yielded 6,8-di-C-prenyl-(5) and 6-C-prenyl-(10) derivatives. The former (5) formed the corresponding bisdihydropyrano derivative (8). Monomethyl derivative of 10 (12) gave monodihydropyrano derivative (13). DDQ reaction of 10 followed by methylation afforded di-O-methyl carpachromene (2); whereas that of 5 gave a mixture of 21 and 22.
Nuclear prenylation of apigenin (3) in a similar way gave 6,8-di-C-C-prenyl-(16), its 7-0-prenyl-(15) and 6-C-prenyl-(18) derivatives. DDQ reaction of 18 provided natural carpachromene.1 The structure of the isopentylated apigenin isolated by Dreyer et al.2 needs further consideration. 相似文献

The hunt for a cleaner energy carrier leads us to consider a source that produces no toxic byproducts. One of the targeted alternatives in this approach is hydrogen energy, which, unfortunately, suffers from a lack of efficient storage media. Solid-state hydrogen absorption systems, such as lithium amide (LiNH2) systems, may store up to 6.5 weight percent hydrogen. However, the temperature of hydrogenation and dehydrogenation is too high for practical use. Various molar ratios of LiNH2 with sodium hydride (NaH) and potassium hydride (KH) have been explored in this paper. The temperature of hydrogenation for LiNH2 combined with KH and NaH was found to be substantially lower than the temperature of individual LiNH2. This lower temperature operation of both LiNH2-NaH and LiNH2-KH systems was investigated in depth, and the eutectic melting phenomenon was observed. Systematic thermal studies of this amide-hydride system in different compositions were carried out, which enabled the plotting of a pseudo-binary phase diagram. The occurrence of eutectic interaction increased atomic mobility, which resulted in the kinetic modification followed by an increase in the reactivity of two materials. For these eutectic compositions, i.e., 0.15LiNH2-0.85NaH and 0.25LiNH2-0.75KH, the lowest melting temperature was found to be 307 °C and 235 °C, respectively. Enhancement in nighttime total electron content (TEC) near the crest of equatorial ionization anomaly at Bhopal (Geog. 23.2°N,
77.4°E, and MLAT 14.2°N) has been studied for the solar minimum period March 2005- November 2006. TEC data recorded by GPS
Ionospheric Scintillation and TEC Monitor (GISTM) GSV4004A receiver is used for the study and results are presented in the
paper. More than 10% increase in TEC with respect to background content is considered for analysis. Out of total 138 enhancements,
65 observed during pre midnight hours and 73 during post midnight hours. It is observed that nighttime enhancement in TEC
at Bhopal occurs in all seasons; it is more frequent during summer, less during equinox and least during winter months. The
enhancement in nighttime TEC can be observed both in geomagnetic disturbed time and in quiet time. We found that mean peak
amplitude for pre-midnight TEC enhancement are more in equinox and less in winter, while in post-midnight TEC enhancement
it is highest in summer and less in winter. Post-midnight enhancements have smaller peak amplitude as compared to pre-midnight.
Also the most probable values for pre- and post-midnights are 4.4 TECU and 2.17 TECU respectively. The percentage occurrence
of nighttime TEC enhancement does not show any dependence on solar activity whereas the peak amplitude depends on solar activity.
The percentage occurrence of nighttime TEC enhancement decreases as the magnetic activity increases whereas there is no such
dependency found with peak amplitude. It is also observed that majority of nighttime TEC enhancements are occurred without
scintillation. The localised nighttime TEC enhancements near the crest of equatorial ionization anomaly region have been observed
