We report a method for synthesizing zinc citrate spheres at a low temperature (90 °C) under normal atmospheric pressure. The spherical structures were amorphous and had an average diameter of ~1.7 μm. The amorphous zinc citrate spheres could be converted into crystalline ZnO nanostructures in aqueous solutions by heating at 90 °C for 1 h. By local dissolution of the zinc citrate spheres, nucleation and growth of ZnO occurred on the surfaces of the amorphous zinc citrate spheres. The morphologies and exposed crystal faces of the crystalline ZnO nanostructures (structure I: oblate spheroid; structure II: prolate spheroid; structure III: hexagonal disk; structure IV: sphere) could be controlled simply by varying the solution composition (solutions I, II, III, or IV) in which the as-prepared amorphous zinc citrate spheres were converted. The concentration of citrate anions and solution pH played a decisive role in determining the morphologies and exposed crystal faces of the crystalline ZnO nanostructures. On the basis of experimental results, we propose a plausible mechanism for the conversion of amorphous zinc citrate spheres into the variety of observed ZnO structures.  相似文献

We derive a simple formula for the free solution electrophoretic mobility of protein by including both molecular shape and charge distribution effects. The molecular shape of protein is described by a deformed sphere model, while the charge distribution is represented in terms of net charge, charge dipole, and charge quadrupole. The deformed sphere model approximates the radial coordinate of the protein surface as a simple quadratic equation based on the atomic coordinate data. Charge dipole does not affect the mobility of protein. Combined with the quadratic coefficients of the surface equation, charge quadrupole affects the mobility. When the charge quadrupole contribution is negligible, the mobility equation simplifies to the Henry equation in which the sphere radius is replaced with the hydrodynamic radius of protein. The deformed sphere model predicts correctly the hydrodynamic radius of protein from the atomic coordinate data. The hydrodynamic radius is not the radius of sphere of equal volume but the effective radius that correlates with the translational diffusivity of protein. To illustrate the utility of our mobility equation we study the electrophoresis of lysozyme and compare our results with previously published works.  相似文献

Specific and nonspecific interactions between antibody-modified probes and substrate-immobilized proteins were monitored by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Probes were modified with anti-ovalbumin IgG antibodies immobilized in either an oriented or a random manner. The oriented immobilization of whole IgG was accomplished through the use of Protein A, and random immobilization was carried out with glutaraldehyde. Nonspecific interactions may lead to false detection of antibody-antigen binding events even when the antigen binding sites are properly positioned by an oriented immobilization strategy. Thus, nonionic and zwitterionic surfactants, including Tween 20, Tween 80, Triton X-100, and CHAPS, were evaluated to determine if nonspecific binding events could be reduced without compromising the desired specific antibody-antigen binding. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and surface plasmon resonance assays were also employed to study antibody-antigen binding as a function of immobilization strategy and surfactant concentration. The data from these studies indicate that Protein A can be used to immobilize whole IgG onto AFM probes for force measurement experiments and that a surfactant is useful for improving the selectivity for such measurements.  相似文献

For each [0, 1] we consider the Dirichlet form and the associated Dirichlet operator for the Gibbs measure of quantum unbounded spin systems interacting via superstable and regular potential. The Gibbs measure is related to the Gibbs state of the system via a (functional) Euclidean integral procedure. The configuration space for the spin systems is given by We formulate Dirichlet forms in the framework of rigged Hilbert spaces which are related to the space . Under appropriate conditions on the potential, we show that the Dirichlet operator is essentially self-adjoint on the domain of smooth cylinder functions. We give sufficient conditions on the potential so that the corresponding Gibbs measure is uniformly log-concave (ULC). This property gives the spectral gap of the Dirichlet operator at the lower end of the spectrum. Furthermore, we prove that under the conditions of (ULC), the unique Gibbs measure satisfies the log-Sobolev inequality (LS). We use an approximate argument used in the study of the same subjects for loop spaces, which in turn is a modification of the method originally developed by S. Albeverio, Yu. G. Kondratiev, and M.
