We provide a coherent interpretation of early small angle scattering experiments performed by some of us on amorphous ErCo2 [9]. At low temperature the zero field transverse spin-spin correlation function is found to fit a simple exponential for large length scales (l >lc), supporting the lower critical dimensionality dc=4. For shorter length scales (l<lc) the correlation function is of the Ornstein-Zernike type. These results are physically understood in terms of the breaking of ferromagnetism into Imry and Ma domains.A further physical interpretation leads us to consider the localization of ferromagnetic spin waves within Imry and Ma domains in zero field, and their delocalization by application of an external field. 相似文献

An equivalent circuit model for analyzing the AC characteristics of power VDMOS transistors is presented. The model accounts for high field and saturation effects. This is achieved by incorporating dependent voltage and current sources in the device model. Results are given for the AC characteristics of a POLYFET F2001 Power VDMOSFET rated with a drain current of 1.4A, power out of 2.5W at 1GHz. The linear, quasi-saturation and saturation regions of the IV characteristics are accounted for in the analysis. The small signal device parasitics are extracted through s-parameter methods. It is shown that magnetic solitons are expected to occur when a magnetic field is applied to a planar antiferromagnetic chain. Neutron inelastic scattering measurements have been performed at low energy on the one dimensional antiferromagnetic compound TMMC. Shrinkage microporosity in cast aluminum was characterized utilizing the frequency dependence of ultrasonic attenuation caused by scattering from the pores. Measurements were made with the plate specimen immersed in water, and, by using a focused transducer, spatial resolution of about 2 mm was obtained. An accurate measure of attenuation was obtained by comparing the specimen’s ultrasonic signal with that from a pore-free reference specimen. Although the attenuation could be fitted using a single spherical pore size, better fits were obtained by assuming a lognormal distribution of spheres. Pore volume fraction inferred from the lognormal fits overestimates the actual volume fraction, determined from density measurements, by the same factor for all volume fractions. The actual volume fraction is overestimated by more than 100%, due to the complicated, nonspherical pore shapes, and must be taken into account to obtain accurate values of porosity. The strong correlation (r2=0.97) between ultrasonic and density-derived volume fractions permits reliable, nondestructive laboratory measurements of porosity. 相似文献

When a nonvolatile liquid film dewets from a partly compatible liquid substrate, the advancing dewetting front leaves behind droplets formed through a Rayleigh instability mechanism at its rim. We have found that these droplets continue to move in the direction of the dewetting front for extended periods (of order one day) with an initial droplet velocity varying linearly with the droplet size, and a displacement varying logarithmically with time. We attribute this persistent motion to a transient surface tension gradient on the substrate liquid surface trailing the dewetting front. 相似文献
