Polysiloxane-modified hybrid Nafion membranes were prepared by casting a mixture of Nafion solution and a precursor of acid functionalised polysiloxane based on tetraethoxysilane and a mercaptan-organoalkoxysilane.Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy analysis revealed that the functionalised polysiloxane was dispersed either as finely nanosized inclusions or as coarse domains depending on the rate of the solvent evaporation during the casting procedure. In particular the slower is the rate of solvent evaporation the more interpenetrated and homogenously dispersed at nanosized level is the polysiloxane inside the Nafion membrane.The hybridization process increases the thermal stability of the membranes of about 50 °C relatively to the unmodified Nafion. Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) analysis reveals that the hybrid membranes exhibited the typical morphology of Nafion consisting of distinct hydrophilic and hydrophobic domains.Water vapor sorption and proton conductivity were measured varying the temperature (up to 120 °C) and the water activity conditions (from 0.1 to 0.8). The polysiloxane network always increases the water vapor uptake of the membranes and increases significantly the proton conductivity at higher temperature depending on the type of morphology developed by the manufacturing method. In particular hybrid membranes exhibiting nanosized polysiloxane dispersion show a proton conductivity which is up to one-and-half time higher than Nafion recast membrane at high temperature and low water content.  相似文献

The identification of proteinaceous components in paintings remains a challenging task for several reasons. In addition to the minute amount of sample available, complex and variable chemical composition of the paints themselves, possible simultaneous presence of several binders and contaminants, and degradation of the original materials due to aging and pollution are complicating factors. We proposed proteomic strategies for the identification of proteins in binders of paintings that can be adapted to overcome the requirements and difficulties presented by specific samples. In particular, we worked on (1) the development of a minimally invasive method based on the direct tryptic cleavage of the sample without protein extraction; (2) the use of microwave to enhance the enzymatic digestion yield, followed by the analysis of the peptide mixtures by nanoLC-MS/MS with electrospray ionization (ESI). Moreover, as an additional tool to tackle the problem of contaminating proteins, we exploited the possibility of generating an exclusion list of the mass signals that in a first run had been fragmented and that the mass spectrometer had to ignore for fragmentation in a subsequent run. The methods, tested on model samples, allowed the identification of milk proteins in a sample from paintings attributed to Cimabue and Giotto, thirteenth-century Italian masters, decorating the vaults of the upper church in the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy.  相似文献

In this paper, we deepen the theoretical study of the geometric structure of a balanced complex polytope (b.c.p.), which is the generalization of a real centrally symmetric polytope to the complex space. We also propose a constructive algorithm for the representation of its facets in terms of their associated linear functionals. The b.c.p.s are used, for example, as a tool for the computation of the joint spectral radius of families of matrices. For the representation of real polytopes, there exist well-known algorithms such as, for example, the Beneath–Beyond method. Our purpose is to modify and adapt this method to the complex case by exploiting the geometric features of the b.c.p. However, due to the significant increase in the difficulty of the problem when passing from the real to the complex case, in this paper, we confine ourselves to examine the two-dimensional case. We also propose an algorithm for the computation of the norm the unit ball of which is a b.c.p. This work was supported by INdAM-GNCS.  相似文献

The introduction of lipophilic derivatives of the naturally occurring heme precursor 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) into photomedicine has led to a true revival of this research area. 5-ALA-mediated photodynamic therapy (PDT) and fluorescence photodetection (FD) of neoplastic disease is probably one of the most selective cancer treatments currently known in oncology. To date, this method has been assessed experimentally for the treatment of various medical indications. However, the limited local bioavailability of 5-ALA has widely prevented its use in daily clinical practice. Although researchers were already aware of this drawback early during the development of 5-ALA-mediated PDT, only recently have well-established concepts in pharmaceutical science been adapted to investigate ways to overcome this drawback. Recently, two derivatives of 5-ALA, methylaminolevulinate (MAL) and hexylaminolevulinate (HAL), gained marketing authorization from the regulatory offices in Europe and Australia. MAL is marketed under the trade name Metvix for the treatment of actinic keratosis and difficult-to-treat basal cell carcinoma. HAL has recently been launched under the trade name Hexvix to improve the detection of superficial bladder cancer in Europe. This review will first present the fundamental concepts underlying the use of 5-ALA derivatives in PDT and FD from a chemical, biochemical and pharmaceutical point of view. Experimental evidences from preclinical data on the improvements and limits observed with 5-ALA derivatives will then be introduced. The state-of-the-art from clinical studies with 5-ALA esters will be discussed, with special emphasis placed on the process that led to the development of MAL in dermatology and to HAL in urology. Finally, we will discuss promising medical fields in which use of 5-ALA derivatives might potentially lead to further use of this methodology in photomedicine.  相似文献

The most appealing feature of nanofilled polymers is the perspective of obtaining surprisingly high mechanical properties at low nanofiller volume fractions. The knowledge of nanostructure–property relationships is however essential for the design of these materials.In the present work, a model for the critical hydrostatic tension related to nanoparticle debonding is presented. The model accounts for some important issues inherently related to the nanoscale with particular reference to surface elastic stresses on the nanoparticle periphery and the emergence of a zone of altered chemistry surrounding the nanoparticle. The analytical solution suggests that the range of nanoparticle radii where interfacial effects do affect the solution is limited to the nanometer scale. In more details, considering the interphase and surface elastic properties used in the analysis, it has been found that for stiff particles with radius between 10 nm and 100 nm (silica, alumina and other metal oxide nanoparticles) the prominent role is played by the interphase elastic properties. Surface elastic constants were found to have, instead, only a negligible effect.  相似文献

Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) can be difficult to control in the outdoor environment as they fly at relatively low speeds and are of low mass, yet exposed to high levels of freestream turbulence present within the Atmospheric Boundary Layer. In order to examine transient flow phenomena, two turbulence conditions of nominally the same longitudinal integral length scale (Lxx/c?=?1) but with significantly different intensities (Ti?=?7.2?% and 12.3?%) were generated within a wind tunnel; time-varying surface pressure measurements, smoke flow visualization, and wake velocity measurements were made on a thin flat plate airfoil. Rapid changes in oncoming flow pitch angle resulted in the shear layer to separate from the leading edge of the airfoil even at lower geometric angles of attack. At higher geometric angles of attack, massive flow separation occurred at the leading edge followed by enhanced roll up of the shear layer. This lead to the formation of large Leading Edge Vortices (LEVs) that advected at a rate much lower than the mean flow speed while imparting high pressure fluctuations over the airfoil. The rate of LEV formation was dependent on the angle of attack until 10° and it was independent of the turbulence properties tested. The fluctuations in surface pressures and consequently aerodynamic loads were considerably limited on the airfoil bottom surface due to the favorable pressure gradient.  相似文献

Ethyl- and propyl-prism[6]arenes are obtained in high yields and in short reaction times, independent of the nature and size of the solvent, in the cyclization of 2,6-dialkoxynaphthalene with paraformaldehyde. PrS[6]Et or PrS[6]nPr adopt, both in solution and in the solid state, a folded cuboid-shaped conformation, in which four inward oriented alkyl chains fill the cavity of the macrocycle. On these bases, we proposed that the cyclization of PrS[6]Et or PrS[6]nPr occurs through an intramolecular thermodynamic self-templating effect. In other words, the self-filling of the internal cavity of PrS[6]Et or PrS[6]nPr stabilizes their cuboid structure, driving the equilibrium toward their formation. Molecular recognition studies, both in solution and in the solid state, show that the introduction of guests into the macrocycle cavity forces the cuboid scaffold to open, through an induced-fit mechanism. An analogous conformational change from a closed to an open state occurs during the endo-cavity complexation process of the pentamer, PrS[5]. These results represent a rare example of a thermodynamically controlled cyclization process driven through an intramolecular self-template effect, which could be exploited in the synthesis of novel macrocycles.

This study reported the antimicrobial activity and phenolic content of natural site and micropropagated Limonium avei (De Not.) Brullo & Erben inflorescences. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of ethanolic extracts were determined according to the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. Individual phenolic acids and flavonoids were detected by a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC-DAD) method. The samples showed a comparable antimicrobial activity, although the natural site extract possessed the lower MIC values. The best activity was detected against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus including methicillin resistant strains (MIC and MBC values ranging from 7.81 to 62.50?μg?mL(-1) and from 500 to 2000?μg?mL(-1) respectively). In contrast, a low activity was found on Gram-negative bacteria and Candida albicans. The HPLC-DAD analysis revealed ten phenolic acids and four flavonoids with a major amount of m-coumaric acid, naringin and quercetin in the natural site extract.  相似文献

High-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy has been used to probe phonon dispersion in quasi-freestanding graphene epitaxially grown on Pt(111). Loss spectra clearly show different dispersing features related to both acoustic and optical phonons. The present results have been compared with graphene systems which strongly interact with the substrate, i.e. the nearly-flat monolayer graphene (MLG)/Ni(111) and the corrugated MLG/Ru(0001). We found that the phonon dispersion of graphene/Pt(111) reproduces well the behavior of pristine graphite. This could be taken as an indication of the negligible interaction between the graphene sheet and the underlying Pt substrate. The softening of out-of-plane modes observed for interacting graphene/metal interfaces does not occur for the nearly-free-standing graphene/Pt(111).  相似文献

DCCC chromatography followed by HPLC purification on the polar extract of marine sponge Theonella swinhoei resulted in the isolation of five new cyclopeptides, perthamides G–K. The new structures, featuring unprecedented amino acid units, were determined by interpretation of extensive spectroscopic and spectrometric data (MS, 1H and 13C NMR, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, and ROESY). Pharmacological analysis demonstrated that these natural cyclopeptides are endowed with anti-inflammatory potential as assessed by their ability to reduce carrageenan-induced mouse paw oedema.  相似文献
