This work reports the reforming of bio-ethanol on chitosan–TiO2 hybrid photocatalysts at ambient temperature. The influence of chitosan composition on the photocatalytic performance of chitosan–TiO2 hybrid was studied. The hybrids were characterized by CHN elemental analysis, nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that the preparation variables used for the incorporation of chitosan on TiO2 promoted changes in the morphology, superficial area, crystal size and porosity of the photocatalyst, affecting the band gap of this semiconductor and consequently the reactivity of the chitosan–TiO2 hybrids. The catalysts were evaluated for hydrogen production from ethanol under visible light. It was demonstrated that the calcination temperature of 623 K and a chitosan content of 20% were the most appropriate preparation conditions and the resulting product displays a pore size of 1.9 nm, crystal size of 11.3 nm, BET area of 178 m2 g?1 and band gap of 2.92 eV. The calcination temperature of 623 K and incorporation of 20% of chitosan obtained the same results in the conversion rate of hydrogen in comparison to the pure TiO2 P25.  相似文献

The quenched decorated Ising model with competitive interactions is used here to described the magnetic properties of the copper oxide superconductors compounds in the insulating phase (antiferromagnetic). The model consists of planes in which the nodal spins interact antiferromagnetically (JA<0) with their nearest-neighbors, and ferromagnetically (JF>0) with the spins that decorate the bonds, which are quenched and distributed randomly over the two-dimensional lattice. The planes interact antiferromagnetically with weak-exchange interaction (i.e., , λ=10-5). By using the framework of an effective-field theory, based on the differential operator technique, we discuss the antiferromagnetic-phase stability limit in the temperature-decorated bond concentration space (T-p), for λ=10-5 and various values of frustration parameter α=JA/JF. For certain region range of the parameter α we observe a reentrant behavior at low-temperature. We also discuss the critical behavior of TN versus α for some values of decorated bond concentrations and reentrant phenomena is observed. We calculate the dependence of the staggered magnetization as a function of the temperature to analyze the reentrant behavior observed in the phase diagrams.  相似文献

The investigation of the internal organization of zooplankton communities provides important information on the plankton biology with special interest for the study of ecological processes. Zooplanktoners can play a structural function as indicators for ecosystem health or stress, but their study using histological techniques is still limited. Here we report that the internal structure of zooplanktonic organisms can be facilely observed by a histological approach that combines optimal fixation and processing with a plastic resin (glycol methacrylate) embedding, resulting in increased tissue resolution. Using copepods, organisms that can dominate zooplankton assemblages, as models, collected from a tropical ecosystem (Paraibuna river, Brazil), we showed fine histological details of their muscular, nervous and digestive systems, structure of appendages and cell features. Critical advantages of this approach are that it permits optimal preservation and adequate handling of the organisms (embedded in agar after fixation) for further histological processing and investigation. This is important because it prevents both mechanically induced artifacts and loss of these diminutive organisms during the different steps of processing. Moreover, embedding in plastic resin showed a superior imaging of copepod internal structures compared to paraffin embedding. The use of glycol methacrylate is advantageous over paraffin/paraplast embedding by avoiding heat damage, tissue retraction and allowing faster embedding procedure and better tissue resolution. The value of histological approaches in enabling high-quality imaging of the internal structure of copepods is particularly important because these organisms can be used as indicators of environmental changes.  相似文献

Protein hydrolysates have been used as active principles in cosmetic products conferring different properties to the final formulations, which are mostly controlled by the peptide size and its amino acid sequence. In this work, capillary electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry analyses were carried out in order to investigate such characteristics of protein hydrolysates. Samples of different origins (milk, soy and rice) were obtained from a local company, and were analyzed without a previous preparation step. The background electrolyte (BGE) and sheath liquid compositions were optimized for each sample. The best BGE composition (860 mmol/L formic acid--pH 1.8--in 70:30 v/v water/methanol hydro-organic solvent) was chosen based on the overall peak resolution whereas the best sheath liquid was selected based on increased sensitivity and presented different compositions to each sample (10.9-217 mmol/L formic acid in 75:25-25:75 v/v water/methanol hydro-organic solvent). Most of the putative peptides in the hydrolysate samples under investigation presented molecular masses of 1000 Da or less. De novo sequencing was carried out for some of the analytes, revealing the hydrophobicity/polarity of the peptides. Hence, the technique has proved to be an advantageous tool for the quality control of industrial protein hydrolysates.  相似文献

An important unsolved problem in medical science concerns the physical origin of the sigmoidal shape of pressure-volume curves of healthy (and some unhealthy) lungs. Conventional wisdom holds that linear response, i.e., Hooke’s law, together with alveolar overdistention play a dominant role in respiration, but such assumptions cannot explain the crucial empirical sigmoidal shape of the curves. Here, we propose a theory of alveolar recruitment together with nonlinear elasticity of the alveoli. The proposed model surprisingly and correctly predicts the observed sigmoidal pressure-volume curves. We discuss the importance of this result and its implications for medical practice.  相似文献

Over the last few decades, researchers have been investigating the mechanisms involved in speech production. Image analysis can be a valuable aid in the understanding of the morphology of the vocal tract. The application of magnetic resonance imaging to study these mechanisms has been proven to be reliable and safe. We have applied deformable models in magnetic resonance images to conduct an automatic study of the vocal tract; mainly, to evaluate the shape of the vocal tract in the articulation of some European Portuguese sounds, and then to successfully automatically segment the vocal tract's shape in new images. Thus, a point distribution model has been built from a set of magnetic resonance images acquired during artificially sustained articulations of 21 sounds, which successfully extracts the main characteristics of the movements of the vocal tract. The combination of that statistical shape model with the gray levels of its points is subsequently used to build active shape models and active appearance models. Those models have then been used to segment the modeled vocal tract into new images in a successful and automatic manner. The computational models have thus been revealed to be useful for the specific area of speech simulation and rehabilitation, namely to simulate and recognize the compensatory movements of the articulators during speech production.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to have cellulase activity and hemicellulase activity screenings of endophyte Acremonium species (Acremonium zeae EA0802 and Acremonium sp. EA0810). Both fungi were cultivated in submerged culture (SC) containing l-arabinose, d-xylose, oat spelt xylan, sugarcane bagasse, or corn straw as carbon source. In solid-state fermentation, it was tested as carbon source sugarcane bagasse or corn straw. The highest FPase, endoglucanase, and xylanase activities were produced by Acremonium sp. EA0810 cultivated in SC containing sugarcane bagasse as a carbon source. The highest β-glucosidase activity was produced by Acremonium sp. EA0810 cultivated in SC using d-xylose as carbon source. A. zeae EA0802 has highest α-arabinofuranosidase and α-galactosidase activities in SC using xylan as a carbon source. FPase, endoglucanase, β-glucosidase, and xylanase from Acremonium sp. EA0810 has optimum pH and temperatures of 6.0, 55 °C; 5.0, 70 °C; 4.5, 60 °C; and 6.5, 50 °C, respectively. α-Arabinofuranosidase and α-galactosidase from A. zeae EA0802 has optimum pH and temperatures of 5.0, 60 °C and 4.5, 45 °C, respectively. It was analyzed the application of Acremonium sp. EA0810 to hydrolyze sugarcane bagasse, and it was achieved 63% of conversion into reducing sugar and 42% of conversion into glucose.  相似文献

Phyllanthus tenellus is widely used for its antiviral, analgesic and hepatoprotective properties. Although the production of several chemical classes of secondary metabolites is influenced by UV radiation, particularly phenolic compounds, we also know that UV radiation can result in anatomical and developmental damage. However, the morphological, anatomical and phytochemical changes in response to UV-A exposure are generally understudied in the Phyllanthaceae. Therefore, we evaluated the effects of UV-A radiation on plant development and leaf anatomy, as well as the production of secondary metabolites and the contents of carotenoids and chlorophylls a and b, in P. tenellus. To accomplish this, in vitro cultures of P. tenellus were maintained for 60 days under white light (WL) and WL plus UV-A radiation. Results showed different phenotypic responses under additional UV-A, such as high phenolic metabolite production, increasing dimensions of abaxial epidermis and thickness of palisade parenchyma. Compared to plants cultured under WL, UV-A radiation caused damage to plant morphogenesis, including a reduced number of branches and shoots, consequently reducing the rate of proliferation. On the other hand, geraniin, ellagic acid and carotenoid contents increased after UV-A exposure, indicating that this light source is an important resource for inducing phenolic compounds.  相似文献
