The ions generated by laser ablation (LA) of calcium and gadolinium oxoborate GdCa4O(BO3)3 (GdCOB) were investigated by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICRMS), a powerful tool for the characterization of ionic species produced by laser interaction with solid material. In order to better understand the matter transfer and the mechanism of thin film growth by pulsed-laser deposition (PLD), cationic and anionic clusters generated by UV laser ablation of GdCOB bulk material were studied. Laser ablation of GdCOB leads to the formation of various cluster ions which result from association of CaO, BO and B2O3 building blocks (BB) with different charge carriers (CC): H+, BO+, GdO+ in positive ion mode, and BO2-, OK-, OH-, Cl-, WO3- in negative ion mode. LA-FTICRMS investigations allow us to assign a valence state to each metallic atom included in each BB. A +II chemical state may be associated with calcium and +II and +III ones to boron. UV laser ablation of GdCOB therefore induces reduction processes of boron species in the gas phase. The oxygen reactive atmosphere used during PLD experiments allows the growth of stoichiometric thin films by fixation of oxygen on the ablated species. 相似文献

We use the multifractal formalism to describe the effects of dissipation on Lagrangian velocity statistics in turbulent flows. We analyze high Reynolds number experiments and direct numerical simulation data. We show that this approach reproduces the shape evolution of velocity increment probability density functions from Gaussian to stretched exponentials as the time lag decreases from integral to dissipative time scales. A quantitative understanding of the departure from scaling exhibited by the magnitude cumulants, early in the inertial range, is obtained with a free parameter function D(h) which plays the role of the singularity spectrum in the asymptotic limit of infinite Reynolds number. We observe that numerical and experimental data are accurately described by a unique quadratic D(h) spectrum which is found to extend from h(min) approximately 0.18 to h(max) approximately 1. 相似文献

This report examines the organization properties of new fluorescent DNA-lipids, either alone in water or in interaction with 1-octyl-beta-d-glucopyranoside micelles or egg phosphatidylcholine vesicles. We first describe the design and the syntheses of the conjugates. Then, we use UV-Vis absorption, steady-state fluorescence emission, electron microscopy, and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy after two-photon excitation to show that these DNA-lipids form spherical micelles in aqueous solution and incorporate much better in micelles than in vesicles. We also investigate the significance of the lipophilic chains of these DNA-lipids on the melting behavior of the double-stranded hybrids: in water melting curves are broadened whereas in amphiphilic assemblies duplexes melt as the unconjugated controls. This work is expected to be useful for improving the rational design of antisense medicines. 相似文献

Dynamic structure factors for Na(c)K(1-c) liquid metallic alloys and pure components are studied by molecular dynamics simulations. Large values of Landau-Placzek ratio for four compositions of the liquid alloy are analyzed by wave-number dependent contributions from relaxation and propagating processes within the generalized collective modes method. This paper describes a two-level simulated annealing heuristic for the joint problem of object placement and request routing in a Content Distribution Network (CDN) with constraints pertaining to server capacity and end-to-end object transfer delay. A CDN is a technology that is used to efficiently distribute electronic content throughout an existing network. The two-level solution procedure is composed of an outer and an inner simulated annealing algorithms. We study theoretically the shapes of a dividing epithelial monolayer of cells lying on top of an elastic stroma. The negative tension created by cell division provokes a buckling instability at a finite wave vector leading to the formation of periodic arrays of villi and crypts. The instability is similar to the buckling of a metallic plate under compression. We use the results to rationalize the various structures of the intestinal lining observed in vivo. Taking into account the coupling between cell division and local curvature, we obtain different patterns of villi and crypts, which could explain the different morphologies of the small intestine and the colon. 相似文献

In this review, we address the issue of the electrostatic complexation between charged-neutral diblock copolymers and oppositely charged nanocolloids. We show that nanocolloids such as surfactant micelles and iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles share similar properties when mixed with charged-neutral diblocks. Above a critical charge ratio, core-shell hierarchical structures form spontaneously under direct mixing conditions. The core-shell structures are identified by a combination of small-angle scattering techniques and transmission electron microscopy. The formation of multi-level objects is driven by the electrostatic attraction between opposite charges and by the release of the condensed counterions. Alternative mixing processes inspired from molecular biology are also described. The protocols applied here consist in screening the electrostatic interactions of the mixed dispersions, and then removing the salt progressively as an example by dialysis. With these techniques, the oppositely charged species are intimately mixed before they can interact, and their association is monitored by the desalting kinetics. As a result, sphere- and wire-like aggregates with remarkable superparamagnetic and stability properties are obtained. These findings are discussed in the light of a new paradigm which deals with the possibility to use inorganic nanoparticles as building blocks for the design and fabrication of supracolloidal assemblies with enhanced functionalities. 相似文献

This article describes the results of a study aimed at improving linen delivery operations in a large teaching hospital in Montreal. Improvements over the previous system were obtained by reassessing the quantities of linen to be delivered and by redesigning the delivery schedule. We present a new model to analyze dielectric spectroscopy measurements on charged lamellar systems, with the following improvements with respect to the hitherto available models: (i) it does not rely on the hypothesis of local electro-neutrality, and allows to treat the salt-free case; (ii) the chemical exchange governing the partition between free and bound ions is properly taken into account; (iii) a fully analytical solution is provided. The variation of the frequency-dependent dielectric permittivity with both thermodynamic and kinetic characteristics of the free-bound ion equilibrium is presented. In particular, the relative weights of both relaxation modes (exchange and transport), and their characteristic frequencies are discussed. This study opens the way to the analysis of systems for which the usual models are irrelevant, such as salt-free clay gels or membranes. 相似文献
