To examine the antithrombogenicity of cultured endothelial cell-detached surface, a simple hybrid vascular model tube consisting of a glass tube and endothelial cells was constructed. To detach the endothelial cells from the inner surface of the model tube, a steady shear stress of 2 or 8 N m(-2) was imposed onto the surface of endothelial cell monolayer by means of a coaxial double cylinder rotational-type apparatus. Coagulation of blood in contact with the endothelial cell-detached surface was examined using a damped oscillation rheometer. Coagulation of whole blood in the cell-detached tube occurred at about 40 min, which was almost the same as that in the endothelial cell-coated tube. A few platelets without shape change adhered to the endothelial cell-detached surface. These data suggest that the endothelial cell-detached surface may exhibit antithrombogenic and anticoagulant surfaces. Biochemical analyses showed that the glass surface, where endothelial cell was detached, was covered with components such as collagen type IV that is considered to be produced from the endothelial cells on the glass surface. 相似文献

A highly selective ligand exchange reaction is realized in the self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of a triruthenium cluster on a gold electrode surface under precise electrochemical potential control. CO as well as NO molecules, which are known to play key roles in many chemical, biological, and environmental systems, can be efficiently introduced into the SAM by electrochemically tuning the electronic state of the Ru site. These unique surface reactions are more convenient and efficient than conventional ligand exchange reactions in solution and could be used for the elucidation of the electron-transfer mechanism in a biological system as well as in the development of molecular sensors and devices. 相似文献

Some results of approximate ab initio calculations of the “correlation” contribution to the true parameters of the pi electron hamiltonian are presented for the ethylene molecule. Three acyclic polythioethers containing 2-thienyl units at both ends were synthesized and the effect of substituent on the extraction of copper(II) was studied. The methyl groups in the terminal thiophene ring have imparted an appreciable degree of increase in the percent extraction of copper(II), while the introduction of chlorine atoms into the 2-thienyl unit resulted in the reverse effect. Among the counter dye anions examined, tetrabromophenolphthalein ethylester was the best one for copper(II) extraction. The composition of extracted species was evaluated to be 122 (Cu(II)/polythioether/dye anion). Quantitative extraction of copper(I) was attained as complexes with various triphenylmethane dyes, i.e., bromocresol green, bromothymol blue, bromo-phenol blue and pyrogallol red. A method is presented that can be used (a) to determine the several lowest eigenvalues and eigenvectors of large symmetric matrices, (b) to solve the generalized eigenvalue problem associated with energy-dependent operators, that arises in computations involving energy-dependent many-body Green's functions and in the evaluation of the true parameters of the effective valence shell hamiltonian, and (c) to directly evaluate the matrices associated with resolvent operators. The applicability to large configuration mixing calculations arises when the N-electron basis functions can be easily broken down to a few dominant configurations (the primary block) and their complement. Using the partitioning technique, the effective hamiltonian within the primary block is directly evaluated. The method is extended to evaluation of the dynamical polarizability tensor, which effectively contains the contributions from all of the eigenstates of a hamiltonian matrix, without the necessity of explicitly calculating its eigenvalues and eigenvectors. 相似文献

The reciprocity effect under intense illumination was studied with photocrosslinkable polyesters of p-phenylenebis(α-cyanobutadiene carboxylic acid) (I), m-phenylenebis(α-cyanobutadiene carboxylic acid) (II), and p-phenylenebis(acrylic acid) (III), with an argon ion laser as a light source. The reciprocal sensitivities of I, II, and III were 5.0, 1800, and > 105 mJ/cm2, respectively. II and III required sensitization to enhance their sensitivities to a level at which reciprocity effects could be measured. I obeyed the reciprocity law over a wide range of exposure times from seconds to microseconds. Both II′, a copolyester of II, and III showed a dramatic decrease of sensitivity in high-intensity/short-time exposure when sensitized by 9,10-phenanthraquinone and pyrylium salts. 相似文献
