Collagen represents one of the most widely used biomaterial for scaffolds fabrication in tissue engineering as it represents the mechanical support of natural tissues. It also provides physical scaffolding for cells and it influences their attachment, growth, and tissue regeneration. Among all fibrillary collagens, type I is considered one of the gold standard for scaffolds fabrication, thanks to its high biocompatibility, biodegradability, and hemostatic properties. It can be extracted by chemical and enzymatic protocols from several collagen‐rich tissues, such as tendon and skin, of different animal species. Both the extraction processes and the manufacturing protocols for scaffolds fabrication provide structural and mechanical changes that can be tuned in order to deeply impact the properties of the final biomaterial. The aim of this review is to discuss the role of X‐rays to study structural changes of type I collagen from fresh collagen‐rich tissues (bovine, equine, fish) to the final scaffolds, with the aim to screen across available collagen sources and scaffolds fabrication protocols to be used in tissue regeneration.  相似文献

Melanoma is one of the most aggressive forms of skin cancer, with few possibilities for therapeutic approaches, due to its multi-drug resistance and, consequently, low survival rate for patients. Conventional therapies for treatment melanoma include radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, which have various side effects. For this reason, in recent years, pharmaceutical and biomedical research has focused on new sito-specific alternative therapeutic strategies. In this regard, nanotechnology offers numerous benefits which could improve the life expectancy of melanoma patients with very low adverse effects. This review aims to examine the latest advances in nanotechnology as an innovative strategy for treating melanoma. In particular, the use of different types of nanoparticles, such as vesicles, polymers, metal-based, carbon nanotubes, dendrimers, solid lipid, microneedles, and their combination with immunotherapies and vaccines will be discussed.  相似文献

The photocatalytic oxidation of biomass-derived building blocks such as 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a promising reaction for obtaining valuable chemicals and the efficient long-term storage of solar radiation. In this work, we developed innovative TiO2-based materials capable of base-free HMF photo-oxidation in water using simulated solar irradiation. The materials were prepared by combining microemulsion and spray-freeze drying (SFD), resulting in highly porous systems with a large surface area. The effect of titania/silica composition and the presence of gold-copper alloy nanoparticles on the properties of materials as well as photocatalytic performance were evaluated. Among the lab-synthesized photocatalysts, Ti15Si85 SFD and Au3Cu1/Ti15Si85 SFD achieved the higher conversions, while the best selectivity was observed for Au3Cu1/Ti15Si85 SFD. The tests with radical scavengers for both TiO2-m and Au3Cu1/Ti15Si85 SFD suggested that primary species responsible for the selective photo-oxidation of HMF are photo-generated electrons and/or superoxide radicals.  相似文献

The aim of this work was an investigation of structural and electrical properties of ZnO/Zn2-xFexTiO4 (x?=?0.7, 1, 1.4) powders. The compounds obtained by sol-gel method are characterized by several techniques: X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electrical and dielectrical measurements. The XRD, SEM and XPS analysis confirmed the formation of ZnFeTiO4 inverse spinel structure. The electrical and dielectrical properties of ZnO/Zn2-xFexTiO4 (x?=?0.7, 1, 1.4) were measured by impedance spectroscopy, revealing a decrease in the electrical conductivity and the dielectric constant with Fe content.  相似文献

The nature of the complexing agents used in the bioscouring process of cotton fabrics aiming to eliminate the non-cellulosic compounds (pectin, waxes, etc.) and to improve the hydrophilic and wetting properties influences the thermal behaviour and the FT-IR spectra of the textile materials. In this paper, we study the influence of the experimental conditions and complexing agent nature (sodium citrate or disodium EDTA salt) on the pectin elimination in bioscouring treatment of cotton fabric by FT-IR and TG/DTG/DTA analysis. The changes from FT-IR spectra of the specific bands (absorbance intensity at 2916, 2852, 1732 and 1640/1642 cm?1) were evaluated. The thermal behaviour of the investigated samples’ fabric by using TG/DTG/DTA analysis was studied at 30–600 °C temperature range, in air atmosphere. All samples showed three mass-loss steps due to the elimination of humidity, decomposition of the non-cellulosic and cellulosic components (main degradation stage of the samples) and thermo-oxidative decomposition of the formed degradation products. The Tonset values corresponding to the main decomposition step, the mass-loss values (%Δm) and the % residual mass (at 600 °C) were influenced by the complexing agent nature as well as the concentration and the action time of the commercial enzyme product. In addition, the calcium content of some samples treated with and without ultrasound was determined using atomic absorption spectroscopy method (AAS) in order to correlate the results with TG/DTG/DTA analysis. The obtained results have shown that the synergistic action of experimental conditions (enzyme concentration, pH, enzyme product action time, ultrasound) and the presence of sodium citrate as a biodegradable complexing agent led to the elimination of a higher amount of pectin from the cotton samples than that eliminated when using EDTA.  相似文献

The cysteine protease cathepsin S (CatS) is involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders, atherosclerosis, and obesity. Therefore, it represents a promising pharmacological target for drug development. We generated ligand-based and structure-based pharmacophore models for noncovalent and covalent CatS inhibitors to perform virtual high-throughput screening of chemical databases in order to discover novel scaffolds for CatS inhibitors. An in vitro evaluation of the resulting 15 structures revealed seven CatS inhibitors with kinetic constants in the low micromolar range. These compounds can be subjected to further chemical modifications to obtain drugs for the treatment of autoimmune disorders and atherosclerosis.  相似文献
