Atomistic computer simulation techniques are used to investigate the effects of lithium insertion into YBa2Cu3O7. Attention is focused on various possible lattice sites occupied by the inserted lithium ions and pathways for their migration. The square-planar position in the Cu(2) layer is calculated to be the most energetically favorable. This is supported by the structural modeling of the ordered lithiated phase Li0.33YBa2Cu3O7. The calculated activation energies derived from migration profiles are in accord with experimental values and suggest fairly mobile lithium ions.  相似文献

Nonlinear relaxation dynamics of highly entangled solutions of high molecular weight 1,4-polybutadiene (PB) in a PB oligomer are studied in steady shear and step shear flows. Polymer entanglement densities vary in the range 14hN/Ne(J)⣴, allowing systematic investigation of entanglement effects on nonlinear rheological response. In agreement with previous steady shear studies using well entangled polystyrene solutions, a flow regime is found where both the steady-state shear stress and first normal stress difference remain constant or increase quite slowly with shear rate, leading to a plateau in the steady-state orientation angle. The magnitude of the average orientation angle in the plateau range is in accordance with predictions of a recent theory by Islam and Archer (2001). In step shear, the nonlinear relaxation modulus G(t,%) is approximately factorable into time-dependent G(t) and strain-dependent h(%) functions only at long times, t>5k, where 5k,O(Fd0). This finding is consistent with earlier observations for entangled polystyrene solutions; however the complex crossing pattern in G(t,%)h-1(%) that precede factorability in the latter materials is not observed. For all but the most entangled sample, apparent shear damping functions h (%,t)=(G(t,%))/(G(t)) immediately following imposition of shear are in nearly quantitative accord with the damping function hDEIA predicted by Doi-Edwards theory.  相似文献

The velocity potentials due to the presence of a horizontal circular ring of wave sources of timedependent strength in water of finite constant depth with a floating elastic plate or a floating membrane are determined. The uniform bottom is composed of non-dissipative porous medium. The problems are formulated as the initial value problems and the Laplace transform method is used to solve these. For time-harmonic source strength, the steady-state analysis of the potentials reveals the existence of outgoing progressive waves. Graphs for the surface profiles are presented for different values of the tension parameter for the membrane, flexural rigidity of ice and the porous-effect parameter.  相似文献

The enhanced (G′/G)-expansion method presents wide applicability to handling nonlinear wave equations. In this article, we find the new exact traveling wave solutions of the Benney–Luke equation by using the enhanced (G′/G)-expansion method. This method is a useful, reliable, and concise method to easily solve the nonlinear evaluation equations (NLEEs). The traveling wave solutions have expressed in term of the hyperbolic and trigonometric functions. We also have plotted the 2D and 3D graphics of some analytical solutions obtained in this paper.  相似文献

We present a highly nonlinear non-circular core photonic crystal fiber (HNL-NCPCF) with all normal group velocity dispersion (GVD) to design a supercontinuum (SC) light source for optical coherence tomography (OCT) system. Nonlinear coefficient γ is increased as large as 66 W?1 km?1 at 1.31μm by reducing the effective mode area and core is made non-circular to increase birefringence by putting the square lattice of air-holes inside the silica host. About 85 nm 10 dB spectral bandwidths for 2.5 ps input optical pulse and 140 nm 10 dB spectral bandwidths for 1.0 ps input optical pulse have been observed using the same fiber length of 200 m and input optical power of 15 W. Coherent lengths of the generated supercontinuum light sources are found 8.91μm for 2.5 ps input optical pulse and 5.41μm for 1.0 ps input optical pulse. Therefore, the highest longitudinal resolution for dental OCT at 1.31μm is found about 3.28μm for tooth enamel.  相似文献

Parrondo’s paradox [J.M.R. Parrondo, G.P. Harmer, D. Abbott, New paradoxical games based on Brownian ratchets, Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 (2000), 5226–5229] (see also [O.E. Percus, J.K. Percus, Can two wrongs make a right? Coin-tossing games and Parrondo’s paradox, Math. Intelligencer 24 (3) (2002) 68–72]) states that two losing gambling games when combined one after the other (either deterministically or randomly) can result in a winning game: that is, a losing game followed by a losing game = a winning game. Inspired by this paradox, a recent study [J. Almeida, D. Peralta-Salas, M. Romera, Can two chaotic systems give rise to order? Physica D 200 (2005) 124–132] asked an analogous question in discrete time dynamical system: can two chaotic systems give rise to order, namely can they be combined into another dynamical system which does not behave chaotically? Numerical evidence is provided in [J. Almeida, D. Peralta-Salas, M. Romera, Can two chaotic systems give rise to order? Physica D 200 (2005) 124–132] that two chaotic quadratic maps, when composed with each other, create a new dynamical system which has a stable period orbit. The question of what happens in the case of random composition of maps is posed in [J. Almeida, D. Peralta-Salas, M. Romera, Can two chaotic systems give rise to order? Physica D 200 (2005) 124–132] but left unanswered. In this note we present an example of a dynamical system where, at each iteration, a map is chosen in a probabilistic manner from a collection of chaotic maps. The resulting random map is proved to have an infinite absolutely continuous invariant measure (acim) with spikes at two points. From this we show that the dynamics behaves in a nearly ordered manner. When the foregoing maps are applied one after the other, deterministically as in [O.E. Percus, J.K. Percus, Can two wrongs make a right? Coin-tossing games and Parrondo’s paradox, Math. Intelligencer 24 (3) (2002) 68–72], the resulting composed map has a periodic orbit which is stable.  相似文献

The effect of the germanium coverage prior to the epitaxial growth of 5 μm thick 3C-SiC on Si(100) substrates were evaluated with Atomic Force Microscopy and μ-Raman spectroscopy. The 3C-SiC layers were grown by atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition via a special procedure leading to layers with compressive instead of tensile stress. The Ge amount was varied from 0 up to 2 ML. The obtained results showed that the residual stress inside the layers is shifted in the compressive direction; the crystalline quality is improved with the Ge introduction but on the account of the surface roughness. These results open the route for the use of Ge-modified Si(100) as a potential substrate in order to improve the heteroepitaxial growth of 3C-SiC on silicon substrates.  相似文献

The X‐ray mass attenuation coefficients of silver were measured in the energy range 5–20 keV with an accuracy of 0.01–0.2% on a relative scale down to 5.3 keV, and of 0.09–1.22% on an absolute scale to 5.0 keV. This analysis confirms that with careful choice of foil thickness and careful correction for systematics, especially including harmonic contents at lower energies, the X‐ray attenuation of high‐Z elements can be measured with high accuracy even at low X‐ray energies (<6 keV). This is the first high‐accuracy measurement of X‐ray mass attenuation coefficients of silver in the low energy range, indicating the possibility of obtaining high‐accuracy X‐ray absorption fine structure down to the L1 edge (3.8 keV) of silver. Comparison of results reported here with an earlier data set optimized for higher energies confirms accuracy to within one standard error of each data set collected and analysed using the principles of the X‐ray extended‐range technique (XERT). Comparison with theory shows a slow divergence towards lower energies in this region away from absorption edges. The methodology developed can be used for the XAFS analysis of compounds and solutions to investigate structural features, bonding and coordination chemistry.  相似文献

This paper describes improved results when comparing cascaded traveling wave electro absorption modulator (TWEAM) to non-cascaded TWEAM by simulation. Large signal modeling is used for both types of modulators to achieve 4 and 10 dB extinction ratios (ERs) with flat frequency response for applications in short distance as well as long distance optical fiber communication. To obtain 4 and 10 dB ERs with 110 GHz 3 dB bandwidth, a cascaded TWEAM requires 0.4 V peak to peak (VP-P) and 1 VP-P input driving voltages respectively. A non-cascaded TWEAM requires about two times the input driving voltage compared to the cascaded modulator to achieve the same values of ER and 3 dB bandwidth. Both modulators have been simulated with the same bias and also use the same circuit parameters except for the total active segment lengths (1 and 0.5 mm for cascaded and non-cascaded modulator respectively) and microstrip lengths to obtain the same ERs and 3 dB bandwidths.  相似文献
