Slope is a fundamental mathematics concept in middle and high school that transcends to the university level. An understanding of slope is needed at the university level since slope plays an important role in understanding problems involving variation and change. In this study Mexican curricula documents were examined to determine which conceptualizations of slope are addressed in the intended mathematics curriculum. To explain the results, we use conceptualizations of slope identified in previous research. Our findings reveal that, to a certain extent, the conceptualizations proposed in the Mexican intended mathematics curriculum differ slightly in terms of the emphasis and timing of instruction from what others have identified in the U.S., with slope as a geometric ratio receiving less emphasis in the Mexican curriculum. There was also noted discontinuity within the Mexican curriculum in introducing slope in grade 9 and subsequently introducing of linear functions in grade 10 without explicit mention of slope. Suggestions are made for future studies, both to consider the conceptualizations of slope promoted in the Mexican textbooks and the impact they have in classroom instruction and student learning of slope. 相似文献

Rheological measurements were performed on aqueous dispersions of two commercial crosslinked polymer microgels, Carbopol Ultrez
10 and Carbopol ETD 2050, prepared over a wide range of concentration and pH. For all concentrations studied, both the yield
stress and the elastic modulus initially increased dramatically with pH and displayed broad peaks at intermediate pH. This
is consistent with the onset of jamming of the Carbopol particles due to a rapid increase in particle size caused by osmotic
swelling in the presence of NaOH. Scaling of both yield stress and elasticity with concentration was observed only at higher
concentrations, which we believe indicates a change from a percolated structure at low volume fractions to a space filling
network of compressed particles at high volume fractions. This model is supported by confocal microscopy of fluorescently

Hydrophobic liquid membranes have a high technological potential in many fields of separation science. The dynamics of these systems is very complex and still not fully understood. In this work we studied the effect of the incorporation of cationic and anionic L-tryptophan at pH 1.8 and 10.0, respectively, in Aerosol-OT reverse micelles performing small angle X-ray scattering experiments. The use of a synchrotron radiation source allowed efficient in situ data acquisition. Several insights on L-tryptophan transport dynamics through hydrophobic membranes containing AOT could be obtained from these SAXS experiments, such as amino acid site localization and changes in the reverse micelle sizes. 相似文献

The selective heterodimerization of tetra-tolyl () and tetra-tosylurea () calixarenes, serendipitously found by Rebek et al. (R. K. Castellano, B. H. Kim and J. Rebek, Jr., J. Am. Chem. Soc., 1997, 119, 12671-12672), has been used for the construction of highly sophisticated macrocycles and well-defined supramolecular assemblies. Regrettably, hitherto, neither the exact structure of these heterodimers nor the reason for their exclusive formation is known. We present molecular dynamics simulations using the AMBER force field in explicit chloroform solvent for the two homodimers, the heterodimer and the two uncomplexed tetra-urea calixarenes. The rigid rotation about the C-S-N-C bond of the tosylurea group has been calculated for a model compound (N-mesylformamide) at the RHF/6-31G* level of theory. The calculations suggest that the heterodimer . is energetically favored over the homodimers by a sterically relaxed conformation of the tosylurea hemisphere in ., by a moderate degree of reorganization of the hemispheres from the uncomplexed to the complexed state and by favorable interactions between the hemispheres. The tosylurea S=O groups are involved in the hydrogen bonding system which results in different sizes of the three capsules in increasing order . < . < .. To prove the computational predictions, 1H NMR experiments have been carried out with solvents/guests differing in shape and size. A magnetic resonance sequence for high-resolution imaging of coronary arteries in a very short acquisition time is presented. The technique is based on fast low-angle shot and uses fat saturation and magnetization transfer contrast prepulses to improve image contrast. GeneRalized Autocalibrating Partially Parallel Acquisitions (GRAPPA) is implemented to shorten acquisition time. The sequence was tested on a moving anthropomorphic silicone heart phantom where the coronary arteries were filled with a gadolinium contrast agent solution, and imaging was performed at varying heart rates using GRAPPA. The clinical relevance of the phantom was validated by comparing the myocardial relaxation times of the phantom's homogeneous silicone cardiac wall to those of humans. Signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio were higher when parallel imaging was used, possibly benefiting from the acquisition of one partition per heartbeat. Another advantage of parallel imaging for visualizing the coronary arteries is that the entire heart can be imaged within a few breath-holds. 相似文献
