An apparatus has been designed and implemented to measure the elastic tensile properties (Young's modulus and tensile strength) of surface micromachined polysilicon specimens. The tensile specimens are “dog-bone” shaped ending in a large “paddle” for convenient electrostatic or, in the improved apparatus, ultraviolet (UV) light curable adhesive gripping deposited with electrostatically controlled manipulation. The typical test section of the specimens is 400 μm long with 2 μm×50 μm cross section. The new device supports a nanomechanics method developed in our laboratory to acquire surface topologies of deforming specimens by means of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to determine (fields of) strains via Digital Image Correlation (DIC). With this tool, high strength or non-linearly behaving materials can be tested under different environmental conditions by measuring the strains directly on the surface of the film with nanometer resolution.  相似文献

We provide a local as well as a semilocal convergence analysis for two-point Newton-like methods in a Banach space setting under very general Lipschitz type conditions. Our equation contains a Fréchet differentiable operator F and another operator G whose differentiability is not assumed. Using more precise majorizing sequences than before we provide sufficient convergence conditions for Newton-like methods to a locally unique solution of equation F(x)+G(x)=0. In the semilocal case we show under weaker conditions that our error estimates on the distances involved are finer and the information on the location of the solution at least as precise as in earlier results. In the local case a larger radius of convergence is obtained. Several numerical examples are provided to show that our results compare favorably with earlier ones. As a special case we show that the famous Newton-Kantorovich hypothesis is weakened under the same hypotheses as the ones contained in the Newton-Kantorovich theorem.  相似文献

The synthesis of 1 - benzoyl - 6,7 - dimethoxy - 5 - keto - 1,2,2a,3,4,5 - hexahydrobenz[cd]indole (10) is described. Reduction of the pyrrole ring of 3 - (5',6' - dimethoxy - 3' - indolyl)propanoic acid (6) with borane pyridine complex and a proton source, followed by N-benzoylation furnished the corresponding indoline derivative 3 - (1' -benzoyl - 5', 6' - dimethoxy - 3' - indolinyl)propanoic acid (7). Fluorescence spectroscopy is an optical spectroscopic method that has been applied for the assessment of environmental quality extensively during the last 20 years. Most of the earlier works have used conventional light sources in spectrofluorometers to assess quality. Many recent works have used laser sources of light for the same purpose. The improvement of the energy sources and of the higher resolution spectrometers has led to a tremendous increase in applications. The motivation for the present review study is the increasing use of laser sources in environmental applications. The review is divided in two parts. The fundamental principles of fluorescence spectroscopy are described in the first part. The environmental applications are described in the second part.  相似文献

Abstract

N-Phthaloyl, N-acetyl, N-benzyl, N-acetyl-N-methyl, N,N-dimethyl, N-benzoyl, and N,N-dibenzoyl derivatives of the trisaccharide β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-3)-O-(2-deoxy-2-amino-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-(1-4)-O-β-D-glucopyranose were synthesized and analyzed by FAB MS. The intensity ratios of the peaks resulting from cleavage of the anomeric bond of the glucosamine residue and the respective molecular ion peaks turned out to be high for the N-acyl derivatives and up to two orders of magnitude lower for the N-alkyl compounds. These results show that fragmentation at the anomeric carbon of the amino sugar may be assisted by the carbonyl group and the resulting cation is stabilized by delocalization of the positive charge.  相似文献

We present an instrument based on Purkinje imaging that permits the objective measurement of the amount of scattering associated with the eye's anterior segment, avoiding the contribution from the retina. The experimental system records the fourth Purkinje image, and adequate processing is used to compute a parameter that quantifies the scattering. The method was first tested in an artificial eye and later in normal young eyes wearing customized contact lenses that induced different amounts of scatter. We were able to detect scattering increments, which indicates that this technique may be used as an objective tool to quantify the level of scattering in the anterior segment of the living human eye. The future use of this technique in clinical environments might help to estimate the level of corneal haze in eyes undergoing refractive surgery or/and scattering within the lens during cataract development.  相似文献

Using a coarse-grained molecular dynamics (CMD) approach we study the apparent nonlinear dynamics of water molecules filling or emptying carbon nanotubes as a function of system parameters. Different levels of the pore hydrophobicity give rise to tubes that are empty, water-filled, or fluctuate between these two long-lived metastable states. The corresponding coarse-grained free-energy surfaces and their hysteretic parameter dependence are explored by linking MD to continuum fixed point and bifurcation algorithms. The results are validated through equilibrium MD simulations.  相似文献

The analysis of information derived from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS) has been identified as an important indicator for discriminating among different brain pathologies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficiency of the combination of textural MRI features and MRS metabolite ratios by means of a pattern recognition system in the task of discriminating between meningiomas and metastatic brain tumors. The data set consisted of 40 brain MR image series and their corresponding spectral data obtained from patients with verified tumors. The pattern recognition system was designed employing the support vector machines classifier with radial basis function kernel; the system was evaluated using an external cross validation process to render results indicative of the generalization performance to “unknown” cases. The combination of MR textural and spectroscopic features resulted in 92.15% overall accuracy in discriminating meningiomas from metastatic brain tumors. The fusion of the information derived from MRI and MRS data might be helpful in providing clinicians a useful second opinion tool for accurate characterization of brain tumors.  相似文献
