Tetraalkynyl calix[4]arenes with advanced NLO properties

Rigid, highly conjugated tetraalkynyl-calix[4]arenes synthesised via Sonogashira coupling give rise to improved second-order hyperpolarizability values as determined by hyper-Rayleigh scattering--a technique that in addition to X-ray crystallography also allows for the conformational analysis of the calixarene structures in solution.     

Die IR-spektroskopische Bestimmung des Substitutionstyps bei Thionaphthenen

Zusammenfassung Es werden die-CH-Schwingungen von Thionaphthen, einer Reihe seiner Alkylderivate, von Thionaphthenketonen und Thionaphthen-sulfonamiden zugeordnet. Mit dieser Zuordnung ist eine sichere Entscheidung möglich, ob der Benzolring oder der Thiophenring eines Thionaphthenderivates substituiert ist. Bei Substitution am Benzolring ist eine Unterscheidung der Stellungen 4 oder 7 von 5 oder 6 möglich. Unter Anwendung dieser Ergebnisse läßt sich zeigen, daß die Ketogruppe bzw. die Sulfonamidgruppe nach Möglichkeit in den Thiophenteil des Thionaphthens eintritt.

Summary The-CH-vibrations of thionaphthene and of a number of its alkyl derivatives are coordinated with thionaphthene ketones and thionaphthene sulfonic acids. This correlation provides a reliable method for deciding whether the benzene ring or the thiophene ring of a thionaphthene derivative is substituted. When the substitution is on the benzene ring, it is possible to distinguish the 4 or 7 from the 5 or 6 position. By using these findings it was determined that the keto group or the sulfonamide group enters far as is possible into the thiophene part of the thionaphthene.

Résumé On a classé les vibrations-CH des thionaphtènes, d'une série de leurs dérivés alkylés, des thionaphtènes-cétones et des thionaphtènes-amidosulfonates. Ce mode de classement permet de juger plus facilement si la substitution d'un dérivé du thionaphtène se produit sur le noyau benzénique ou sur le noyau thiophénique. Dans le cas d'une substitution sur le noyau benzénique on peut distinguer les positions 4 ou 7 des positions 5 ou 6. En appliquant ces résultats, on peut montrer que le groupe cétonique ou le groupe amidosulfonique pénètrent s'il est possible dans la partie thiophénique du thionaphtène.

Funktionell substituierte zinnorganische verbindungen v. st]Phosphono- Und phosphonylmethyl-triorganostannane

The synthesis of phosphono- and phosphonylmethyl-triorganostannanes R₃SnCH₂P(O)(OR′)R′′ (R′′  OR′, C₆H₅) via an Arbuzov reaction of R₃SnCH₂I with P(OR′)₃ or C₆H₅P(OR′)₂ (R′′  CH₃, C₂H₅) is described. The new compounds have been studied with regard to their behaviour towards electrophilic (Br₂, HCl, HgBr₂) and nucleophilic (NaOH, LiAlH₄, LiR) agents. Their reaction with chlorophenylphosphines followed by reduction with LiAlH₄ yields the unsymmetrical methylenebis(phosphines) C₆H₅P(R)CH₂PH₂ (R  H, C₆H₅). The title compounds add to the carbonyl group of aldehydes and the CN bond of phenylisocyanate.
