Electrical properties of interdigitated partially bent like shaped liquid crystalline compound

This article represents the electrical studies of an interdigitated highly skewed N(4-n-pentyloxybenzylidene) 4-n-alkylaniline (5O.16) compound. Interestingly the compound is partially bent like and unsymmetrical in alkyl chain length. Dielectric and impedance spectroscopy studies indicate the coupling between the liquid crystal and the electrical field. Studies were carried out as a function of temperature as well as frequency. Semicircular nature of the Cole–Cole plots indicates the reorientation of the molecule with the applied field. Using the experimental data and the theoretically fitted results the effective equivalent model circuit was designed. Which used to explain the behavior of the compound under the external electric effect and the influence of the electrodes with different variable represent the resistor circuit. However, the effect of the conductivity of temperature and frequency are also reported.     

Synthesis of cyclic α-hydrazino acids

Synthesis of five-, six-, seven-, eight-, and nine-membered cyclic α-hydrazino acids from a common starting material ‘diethylmalonate’ with 26, 16, 34, 13.5, and 13.33% overall yields is described. Sequential allylation or homoallylation and electrophilic amination followed by cyclization gave the desired rings. The methyl esters of eight- and nine-membered rings were synthesized by RCM and the corresponding free acids were generated after hydrolysis in the presence of 1 M BBr₃ solution in DCM.     

Effect of denaturation of DNA on the molecular organization of a fluorescent dye in ultra thin films

Acridine Orange (AO) forms H-dimer in solid state and in ultra thin films. However, H dimer of AO reduces its efficiency as a usefull material for fluorescence probe. In the present work detailed investigations has been done on the interaction of AO with different forms of DNA in order to check the effectiveness in controlling the dimeric sites of AO in the Layer by Layer (LbL) self assembled film. It was found that single stranded DNA (ssDNA) is most effective than the dsDNA and coil-shaped DNA in controlling the dimeric sites of AO in LbL film.     

Differential operators on a polarized abelian variety

Let be an ample line bundle over a complex abelian variety . We show that the space of all global sections over of and are both of dimension one. Using this it is shown that the moduli space of rank one holomorphic connections on a compact Riemann surface does not admit any nonconstant algebraic function. On the other hand, is biholomorphic to the moduli space of characters of , which is an affine variety. So is algebraically distinct from the character variety if is of genus at least one.

     

Evolution of a dust void in a radio-frequency plasma sheath

The onset and growth of a dust void are investigated in a radio-frequency (rf) sheath of a capacitively coupled argon plasma. A circularly symmetric void emerges and grows with increasing rf power and pressure in the central region of the dust cloud levitating in the sheath. Experimental measurements of the void diameter are compared with the predictions of a simple phenomenological theory, based on a balance of forces on dust grains.     

Search for the scalar top quark in pp collisions at square root[s] = 1.8 TeV

We have performed a search for scalar top quark (stop) pair production in the inclusive electron-muon-missing transverse energy final state, using a sample of pp events corresponding to 108.3 pb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at Fermilab. The search is done in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model assuming that the sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. For the dominant decays of the lightest stop, t-->b chi+1 and t-->blnu, no evidence for signal is found. We derive cross-section limits as a function of stop ( t ), chargino ( chi+1), and sneutrino ( nu) masses.     

Projective Structure,Symplectic Connection and Quantization

Let X be a connected Riemann surface equipped with a projective structure . Let E be a holomorphic symplectic vector bundle over X equipped with a flat connection. There is a holomorphic symplectic structure on the total space of the pullback of E to the space of all nonzero holomorphic cotangent vectors on X. Using , this symplectic form is quantized. A moduli space of Higgs bundles on a compact Riemann surface has a natural holomorphic symplectic structure. Using , a quantization of this symplectic form over a Zariski open subset of the moduli space of Higgs bundles is constructed.     

On Some Rings of Arithmetical Functions

In this paper, we consider several constructions which from a given B-product * _B lead to another one We shall be interested in finding what algebraic properties of the ring are shared also by the ring . In particular, for some constructions the rings R _B and will be isomorphic and therefore have the same algebraic properties.     

Kinetics and mechanism of micellar effects upon the hydrolysis of 0-(2,4-dinitrophenyl) cyclohexanone oxime

A modification in the reaction mechanism of 0-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)cyclohexanone Oxime with OH^– in 30% aqueous methanol is suggested. The cationic micelles of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide enhance the reaction by a factor ofca. 3. The pseudo first order rate constant at the micellar surface was found to be 10.9×10^–4 s^–1 at 35±0.1°C. Anionic and nonionic micelles inhibit the rate of the reaction. Bromide ion inhibits the catalysis, which indicates that catalysis is partially due to a concentration effect. The catalytic efficiency increases with decreasing [OH^–), which implies that the efficiency of the surfactant could be related to some standard parameter(s).
