Nonperiodic behavior in self-sustained oscillation of the internodal cell of Nitella was investigated under sinusoidal stimulation. The stroboscopic transformation reveals a single-valued transition function with period three. This suggests that the nonperiodic oscillation is chaotic in the sense of Li and Yorke.  相似文献

Titanium or titanium alloys are very attractive biomedical materials. Biocompatible elements of oxygen, calcium and phosphorus were implanted into titanium and changes of surface hardness were measured using an ultra micro indenter (UMIS-2000). A multiple load-partial unload procedure that can reveal a hardness versus depth profile was adopted. Depth profiles of concentration of implanted ions were obtained by SIMS measurement. For O and P implantation, it is observed that the hardness increases with the increases in the dose. O implantation produced the largest increase in hardness, up to 2.2 times higher than the unimplanted titanium. On the other hand, Ca implantation produced only a small increase in the hardness that was independent of the ion dose. The surface oxide layer of a Ca implanted titanium sample was much thicker than the unimplanted samples or those implanted with O and P ions. The depth of maximum hardness increases with increasing energy of implanted ions. The depths of the maximum hardness occur at indentation depths of one-third to one-eighth of the mean ranges of implanted ions.  相似文献

We developed a simple method of reproducibly creating highly aligned DNA nanowires without any surface modifications or special equipment. Stretched DNA molecules initially present on the PDMS sheet were transferred onto another surface using transfer-printing (TP). Fluorescent microscopic and atomic force microscopic images revealed that many DNA molecules were highly aligned on surfaces after TP. Furthermore, it was also possible to realize the two-dimensional assembly of DNA nanowires by repeating TP.  相似文献

Four riblet bends were tested to investigate the effects of riblets on pipe flows including the secondary flow on the Reynolds numbers; Re D =6×103–4×104. The pressure gradients on the smooth pipe downstream from the riblet bends were measured, and also the pressure losses of the bends only were measured. All riblet bends reduced the pressure gradient on the smooth pipe downstream from them, which means a drag reduction. Two of the riblet bends showed the maximum drag reduction of about 4 percent at Re D = 6500; this reduction rate was significant considering the uncertainty of the present experiments. Since the pressure losses of these two riblet bends were almost identical to that of the smooth bend at Re D = 6500, they could cause a net drag reduction of about 4 percent on the piping system including these bends at that Reynolds number. The infrared (IR) chemiluminescence studies of CO2 formed during steady-state CO oxidation over Pd(1 1 1), Pt(1 1 1), and Rh(1 1 1) surfaces were carried out. Analysis of their emission spectra indicates that the order of the average vibrational temperature () values of CO2 formed during CO oxidation was as follows: Pd(1 1 1) > Pt(1 1 1) > Rh(1 1 1), and the order is coincident with the potential energy in the transition state expected by the theoretical calculations. Furthermore, it is suggested that the bending vibrational temperature () can also be influenced by the angle of O-C-O (∠OCO) of the activated complex in the transition state, which has also been proposed by the theoretical calculations.  相似文献
