Synthesis of photocrosslinkable hyperbranched polyesters and their film properties

Hyperbranched polyesters with terminal methacryloyl groups (HBPEAc) were synthesized by the one‐pot polyaddition of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether and trimesic acid in the presence of methacrylic acid with a number‐average molecular weights of 5100–7700 in 70–83% yields. The photoradical polymerization of HBPEAc was examined in the presence of 2‐methyl‐1‐[4‐(methylthio)phenyl]‐2‐morpholinopropan‐2‐one (Irgacure 907®) as a photoinitiator in the film state upon UV irradiation to afford the corresponding cured films quantitatively. The crosslinking densities of the cured films of HBPEAc were higher than those of the corresponding linear ones, and birefringence cannot be detected for the cured films of HBPEAc because of their random structures. Furthermore, an alkaline‐developable hyperbranched polyester containing pendant carboxyl groups (HBPEAc‐COOH) was prepared by the addition reaction of HBPEAc with cis‐1,2,3,6‐tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, and its patterning properties were examined to give the resolution of a 55‐μm‐line and 275‐μm‐space pattern by UV irradiation with 700 mJ/cm². © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A linear relationship between electronegativity of 2′-substituents and conformation of adenine nucleosides

From the ¹H NMR studies of various 2′-substituted 2′-deoxyadenosines, a relationship between electronegativity of substituents and conformation of the sugar moiety was elucidated.     

Solid phase synthesis of ribo-oligonucleotides on a polyacrylmorpholide support

A riboheptanucleotides G-C-A-A-C-C-A which has a sequence of the 3′-end of $\text{E. coli}$ formylmethionine tRNA has been synthesized on a polyacrylmorpholide resin by the triester approach using dinucleotide blocks.     

Aggregation,gelation instability,and morphologies of diblock copolymers consisting of poly(p‐benzamide) and poly(m‐benzamide)

The solution, gelation, and morphological properties of monodisperse aromatic polyamide diblock copolymers consisting of poly(p‐benzamide) (PpBA), poly(m‐benzamide) (PmBA), and poly(N‐octyl m‐benzamide) (POmBA) were investigated. The block copolymers of these polymers, PpBA‐block‐POmBA and PmBA‐block‐POmBA, formed spherical micelles or amorphous aggregates in many solvents in addition to physical gels at concentrations higher than 5 wt %. A temperature‐induced sol‐gel transition was also exhibited for PpBA‐block‐POmBA in solvents with high boiling points such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide and N‐methylpyrrolidone (NMP), although the transition was not entirely thermoreversible; the transition temperature decreased by annealing at ～80 °C. Dynamic light scattering measurements of the PpBA‐block‐POmBA/NMP solutions revealed that metastable micelles in the sol state reorganized into smaller micelles upon annealing at 90 °C. The block copolymer, which forms strong associations, exhibited some transient structure as indicated by the need to sufficiently anneal the solution to reach equilibrium. Network‐like patterns with characteristic length of ～10 μm appeared on the gel surfaces upon evaporation of volatile solvents such as dichloromethane and chloroform, in which the copolymers were observed to aggregate. The unique properties of the copolymers originate from interactions between the highly polar N? H aromatic polyamide blocks. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Nuclear spin-lattice relaxation in heavily doped silicon

The anomalous temperature and magnetic field dependences of spin-lattice relaxation time were observed in heavily phosphorus doped silicon. These anomalies should be attributed to the dynamical nature of the highly correlated electron gas which contributes to metallic impurity conduction.
