Synthesis of biologically active derivatives of D-glucosamine-4-phosphate and 1-thyminyl-D-glucosamine-4,6-disulfate

New 1-thyminyl-D-glucosamine-4-phosphate and 1-thyminyl-D-glucosamine-4,6-disulfate derivatives were synthesized. The 1-thyminyl-D-glucosamine-4,6-disulfate derivative showed antiviral activity against HIV.     

QuantumR matrices related to the spin representations ofB n andD n

We present the explicit form of the trigonometricR matrices related to the spin representations of the simple Lie algebrasX _n=B _n,D _n. We conjecture that one dimensional configuration sums of the corresponding vertex models in the face formulation are the string functions ofX _n ⁽¹⁾ modules.     

Effect of hydrogen bonds on intermolecular crosslinking reaction by introduction of carboxyl groups in free-radical crosslinking monomethacrylate/dimethacrylate copolymerizations

The effect of physical interaction through hydrogen bonds on the intermolecular crosslinking reaction leading to the promoted gelation in free-radical crosslinking monovinyl/divinyl copolymerizations was discussed from the standpoint of the control of network formation. The solution copolymerizations of benzyl methacrylate (BzMA) with 2 mol% of 1,6-hexanediol dimethacrylate in t-butylbenzene were conducted in the absence and presence of different amounts of mono(2-methacryloyloxyethyl) succinate (MMOES). Gelation was promoted by the addition of MMOES and the ratio of the actual gel point to the theoretical one became smaller; this would be related to the formation of hydrogen bonds between carboxyl groups introduced into prepolymer and growing polymer radical. As an extension of the above discussion, we treated the effect of hydrogen bonds on the gelation in the crosslinking BzMA/triicosaethylene glycol dimethacrylate copolymerization. The addition of MMOES obviously promoted the gelation. The ratio of the actual gel point to the theoretical one calculated according to Stockmayer's equation [J. Chem. Phys. 12 (1944) 125] was obtained as 1.9, very close to unity.     

Electron cyclotron heating in the WT-1 tokamak

When a high power microwave is injected into a tokamak plasma, the intensities of microwave radiations emitted from the plasma and those of impurity lines are increased. Such increases are observed only when the electron cyclotron resonance field is present in the torus. The upper hybrid resonance heating is also observed near the plasma surface.     

Test of exotic scalar and tensor interactions in K e3 decay using stopped positive kaons

The form factors of the decay K ⁺ → π ⁰ e ⁺ ν _e (K _e3) have been determined from the comparison of the experimental and Monte Carlo Dalitz distributions containing about 10⁵ K _e3 events. The following values of the parameters were obtained: λ ₊=0.0278±0.0017 (stat.)±0.0015 (syst.), |f _S/f ₊(0)|=0.0040±0.0160 (stat.)±0.0067 (syst.), and |f _T/f ₊(0)|=0.019±0.080 (stat.)±0.038 (syst.). Both scalar f _S and tensor f _T form factors are consistent with the Standard Model predictions of zero values.     

Tributyltin cyanide: A facile cyanating agent of acyl chlorides

Tributyltin cyanide was prepared from tributyltin chloride and potassium cyanide, and was found to be an efficient cyanation agent for acyl chlorides to give acyl cyanides in excellent yields.
