Abstract

A new mononuclear complex of zinc(II), [Zn(HL)2]?2DMF (H2L = (E)-N′-((E)-(hydroxyimino)butan-2-ylidene)salicyloylhydrazide, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), was prepared and characterized. Single-crystal X-ray crystallography revealed a six-coordinate zinc(II) surrounded by nitrogen of the oxime function and oxygen and distal nitrogens of the acylhydrazone group. This entity also exists in solution as demonstrated by 1H-NMR and potentiometric titrations. The computational analysis showed that the molecular orbitals involved in the main electronic transitions of the complex species in solution are centered on the ligand with negligible contribution of the metal ion. The photophysical properties of the complex were evaluated in solution and in the solid state. Luminescence studies showed that the solid has a strong emission at 550 nm with a large Stokes shift with respect to absorption. The solid state fluorescence emission is ascribed to ligand-centered and/or ligand-to-ligand charge transfer transitions, following the DFT results in solution. A comparison with a previously reported mononuclear [Zn(HL)2] allowed the investigation of the influence of DMF molecules in the structural packing and the luminescence properties.  相似文献

This paper describes the resources, scientific spaces, and experts involved in the study of a mass poisoning caused by the drinking of arsenic-contaminated wine exported from Spain to France in 1932. Local and international periodicals record the poisoning of 300 French sailors, and stressed the commercial implications of the case. We discuss the reports prepared by different experts (mainly physicians, agricultural engineers, and customs chemists). Their work was not limited to preparing technical publications or chemical analyses; they also actively defended the quality of their local wine, and played a major role in the discussions regarding the regulation of the international wine market in the 1930s, when new standards regarding the analysis of wine were being considered. Curiously, this well-publicised case of mass poisoning did not have any noticeable consequences in the international regulation of wine. This absence of subsequent regulatory action and the role of experts are central topics of the paper.  相似文献

Despite heparin being the most widely used macromolecular drug, the design of small‐molecule ligands to modulate its effects has been hampered by the structural properties of this polyanionic polysaccharide. Now a dynamic covalent selection approach is used to identify a new ligand for heparin, assembled from extremely simple building blocks. The amplified molecule strongly binds to heparin (KD in the low μm range, ITC) by a combination of electrostatic, hydrogen bonding, and CH–π interactions as shown by NMR and molecular modeling. Moreover, this ligand reverts the inhibitory effect of heparin within an enzymatic cascade reaction related to blood coagulation. This study demonstrates the power of dynamic covalent chemistry for the discovery of new modulators of biologically relevant glycosaminoglycans.  相似文献

Different mass analysers [(quadrupole (Q), time-of-flight (TOF) and multicollector (MC) sector-field (SF)] of ions produced in an inductively coupled plasma were evaluated for the determination of lead isotope ratios in wine samples. A population of 20 wines of different origin including two reference wines from the EC Standards, Measurement and Testing Programme with concentrations varying between 7-140 mug Pb l(-1) was investigated. Wines were analyzed directly by Q ICP MS and MC ICP MS. The poor sensitivity of the TOF instrument, further aggravated by matrix signal suppression, did not allow the acquisition of data for wine samples that contained less than 50 mug l(-1) in the direct sample introduction mode. The separation and preconcentration of lead were therefore required. The precision obtained for the (206)Pb/(207)Pb and (208)Pb/(206)Pb were similar and equal to 0.14-2.7% for Q ICP MS, 0.04-0.17% for TOF ICP MS and 0.01-0.12% for MC ICP MS. The precision for (206)Pb/(204)Pb was 0.44-5.29, 0.15-1.7, 0.08-1.6%, respectively. On the level of accuracy, the data from TOF ICP MS and MC ICP MS were in good agreement. The accuracy of Q ICP MS data was judged satisfactory in comparison with the other techniques but their poor precision was a significant obstacle on the way of using these data for the determination of the geographic origin of wine.  相似文献

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT), using δ‐aminolevulinic acid (5‐ALA), in the elimination of premalignant cervical lesions in Mexican patients with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and/or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Thirty women diagnosed with CIN I and/or positive for HPV participated in the study. Topical 6% 5‐ALA in gel form was applied to the uterine cervix; after 4 h, the lesion area was irradiated with a light dose of 200 J cm?2 at 635 nm. This procedure was performed three times at 48‐h intervals. Clinical follow‐up was performed at 3, 6, and 12 months after the initial PDT administration, by colposcopy, cervical cytology, histopathological analysis, polymerase chain reaction, and hybrid capture. Of HPV‐infected patients without evidence of CIN I, 80% cleared the infection, while HPV associated with CIN I was eliminated in 83% of patients (P < 0.05). At 12 months, CIN I had regressed in 57% of patients, although this response was not statistically significant. PDT using 6% 5‐ALA is concluded to be effective in eliminating HPV infection associated or not with CIN I.  相似文献

Several new 6-(alkylamine)-6H-dibenz[c,e][1,2]oxaphosphinine-6-oxides were prepared through a one-pot reaction, starting with 2-phenylphenol, phosphorus trichloride, and a Zn catalyst, to form 6-chloro-6H-dibenz[c,e][1,2]oxaphosphine. The alkylamine derivatives were subsequently prepared through a nucleophilic substitution reaction involving aliphatic amines and H2O2 oxidation under soft conditions. This method has the advantages that it is a one-pot synthesis, does not require an inert atmosphere, and involves in situ catalyst formation.  相似文献

Automation by flow injection analysis with Spectrophotometric detection of the determination of total amino acids and proteins witho-phthalaldehyde is not straightforward. The use of spectrophotometry, instead of spectrofluorimetry, and of N-acetyl-L-cysteine, instead of the conventional mercaptoethanol is advantageous because of the lower variability of absorptivities with respect to fluorescence yields, and the larger stability of the derivatives. Under adequate working conditions and with leucine as reference, the procedure can be used for the evaluation of total amino acids. A similar procedure is proposed for the analysis of proteins in a sample. Limits of detection are 1 × 10–5 M for amino acids, and 1 × 10–6 M for proteins, respectively.  相似文献

For a riemannian foliation on a closed manifold M, it is known that is taut (i.e. the leaves are minimal submanifolds) if and only if the (tautness) class defined by the mean curvature form (relatively to a suitable riemannian metric μ) is zero (cf. álvarez in Ann Global Anal Geom 10:179–194, 1992). In the transversally orientable case, tautness is equivalent to the non-vanishing of the top basic cohomology group , where (cf. Masa in Comment Math Helv 67:17–27, 1992). By the Poincaré Duality (cf. Kamber et and Tondeur in Astérisque 18:458–471, 1984) this last condition is equivalent to the non-vanishing of the basic twisted cohomology group , when M is oriented. When M is not compact, the tautness class is not even defined in general. In this work, we recover the previous study and results for a particular case of riemannian foliations on non compact manifolds: the regular part of a singular riemannian foliation on a compact manifold (CERF). Data for optimization problems often comes from (deterministic) forecasts, but it is naïve to consider a forecast as the only future possibility. A more sophisticated approach uses data to generate alternative future scenarios, each with an attached probability. The basic idea is to estimate the distribution of forecast errors and use that to construct the scenarios. Although sampling from the distribution of errors comes immediately to mind, we propose instead to approximate rather than sample. Benchmark studies show that the method we propose works well.  相似文献
