Study of the N = 50 major shell effect toward 78Ni at PARRNe⋆

The γ-ray de-excitations following the β-decay of ⁸³Ga and the β-n decay of ⁸⁴Ga have been studied. The radioactive species were produced using the PARRNe on-line mass-separator installed at the IPN Orsay Tandem accelerator. Two γ-lines were attributed to ⁸³Ge with the aid of β-γ and γ-γ coincidences. The Z identification of the γ-lines was provided by time analysis of a buid-up/decay cycle. The excited levels of ⁸³Ge can be explained by the coupling of the single neutron state ν2d _5/2 to the first 2⁺ excitation of the ⁸²Ge core.     

Finite element analysis of two-temperature generalized magneto-thermoelasticity

A general finite element model is proposed to analyze transient phenomena in thermoelastic solids. Youssef model of two-temperature generalized magneto-thermoelasticity is selected for an homogenous, isotropic, conducting and elastic medium, which is subjected to thermal shock, and a magnetic field with constant intensity acts tangent to the bounding plane. The numerical solution of the nondimensional governing partial differential equations of the problem has been shown graphically.

Location of the181Os isomeric state

The decay of¹⁸¹Ir has been studied on-line with mass-separated sources from the ISOCELE facility. The level scheme of¹⁸¹ Os has been established. The isomeric state has been located at 48.9 keV above the ground state. Thus the isomeric and ground states are identified as the 7/2?(T1/2 =2.7 m) and 1/2?(T1/2=105 m) levels respectively.     

Trace element content in relation to the body weight of the marine bivalve,Anadara granosa with special reference to the application of INAA and ICP-AES as analytical techniques

Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) spectrometry were used to determine the concentration of trace metals in marine bivalveAnadara granosa. A total of 11 elements: Mg, Cl, Mn, K, Se, Br, Zn, Co, Fe, Rb, Cd and Cu were detected. Analyses were performed to examine the relationship between metal concentration and body weight. Results from both techniques show linear relationship between total metal concentration and body weight.     

Optimal control of an elastically connected rectangular plate–membrane system

The optimal control of an elastically connected rectangular plate–membrane system by point-wise actuators is considered. Problems of the type are of significant practical interest in most real mechanical structures widely used in aeronautical, civil, naval, and mechanical engineering. An index of performance is formulated, which consists of a modified energy functional of the two coupled structure at a specified time and penalty functions involving the point control actuators. Necessary conditions of optimality are derived in the form of independent integral equations which lead to explicit expressions for the point-wise actuators. The results are applied to a specific problem, and numerical results are given that reveal the effectiveness of the proposed control mechanism.
