Sorption Capacity and Selectivity Relative to Metal Ions for Oxidized Carbon Sorbents with Different Numbers of Oxygen-Containing Groups

We have determined the sorption capacity and selectivity for a broad range of metal ions (alkali, alkaline-earth, transition metal, noble metals, etc.) in two-component and multicomponent mixtures of oxidized carbon sorbents with different numbers of oxygen-containing surface functional groups. We discuss the reasons for the observed changes, their connection with the nature and number of oxygen-containing surface functional groups, and the possibilities for practical application.     

Mathematical modeling of the inhibited radical chain oxidation of organic compounds

A new software package is suggested for solving the inverse kinetic problem for inhibited oxidation reactions of organic compounds. The software has been developed using inhibited n-decane oxidation as the model reaction.     

Visualization of IR radiation by fluoride ceramics

Ceramic luminophors based on YF₃ (Er, Yb) and LiYF₄ (Er, Yb) solid solutions were obtained in the form of tablets by the solid-phase synthesis in the temperature range 800–1000°C. The synthesized luminophors can be used in the form of thin-film lacquer coats phosphorescing under the action of IR radiation, for recording hidden information, for defense of goods and securities, and for adjustment of IR lasers.     

Synthesis of condensed pregnano[17,16-<Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis>]triazolines under high pressure

Condensed pregnano[17,16-d]triazolines were produced in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 16-dehydropregnenolone acetate with organic azides at 10 kbar. The structure of the synthesized compounds was determined by using two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy (¹H—¹H COSY, NOESY, HSQC, and HMBC).     

The Briggs-Rauscher oscillatory reactions catalyzed by nickel macrocyclic complexes

The investigation of Briggs-Rauscher reactions (BRR) with nickel complexes have shown that the range of the standard redox potentials of BRR catalysts is at least 0.7–1.7 V. An inner-sphere interaction of metal ions with hydrogen peroxide is a prerequisite of the oscillatory behavior. The unique catalytic properties of the nickel compounds are probably due to their lower redox potential.     

Coordination chemistry of macrocyclic multidentate Lewis acids. Synthesis and structures of complexes of cyclic trimeric perfluoro-o-phenylenemercury with N,N-dimethylacetamide and n-butyronitrile

Cyclic trimeric perfluoro-o-phenylenemercury (o-C₆F₄Hg)₃ readily reacts with N,N-dimethylacetamide and n-butyronitrile to form the complexes {[(o-C₆F₄Hg)₃](MeCONMe₂)₂} and {[(o-C₆F₄Hg)₃](PrⁿCN)}, respectively. According to X-ray diffraction data, the amide ligands are located above and below the plane of the macrocycle, each being coordinated to all Hg atoms of the macrocycle through the O atom. The nitrile ligand is bound to the macrocycle through the N atom, all Hg atoms being also involved in this bonding.     

Inclusive meson resonance production inK + p interactions at 250 GeV/c

A detailed analysis of the inclusive production of the vector mesonsφ,K ^*+,0(892) \(\bar K*^0 (892),\rho ^{ + ,0} ,\omega \) and the tensor mesonsK ₂ ^*0 )(1430) andf ₂(1270) inK ⁺ p interactions at 250 GeV/c is presented The data are compared with results at lower energies and with various quark-parton models. The production ofρ ⁰,K ^*0(892) and \(\bar K*^0 (892)\) increases at the same rate as a function ofs, is concentrated in the central region and is not reproduced by the models. Production of the tensor mesonsf ₂(1270) andK ₂ ^*0 (1340) is suppressed relative toρ ⁰ andK ^*0(892) by a factor of about 3.     

Mass spectrometric study of products and intermediate compounds in oscillating chemical reactions of oxidation of macrocyclic copper and nickel complexes by a bromate

Products and intermediate compounds formed in oscillating chemical reactions of oxidation of copper and nickel tetraazamacrocyclic complexes were studied by the method of desorption field mass spectrometry. It was shown that a cascadelike oxidation of the macrocyclic ligand takes place and its hydrolysis with rupture of the macrocyclic ring at the azomethine bonds. Products of bromination of oxygen- and nitrogen-containing compounds, participants in the reactions, were discovered.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Éksperimental'naya Khimiya, Vol. 23, No. 2, pp. 221–225, March–April, 1987.     

Neutral strange particle correlations in 360 GeV/cpp interactions

Production properties and correlations forK _s ⁰ K _s ⁰ ,K _s ⁰ Λ,K _s ⁰ ¯Λ and Λ¯Λ systems in 360 GeV/cpp interactions are presented. All rapidity gap distributions are observed to peak at Δy=0 and the azimuthal angular distributions between the two particles are consistent with being flat. Experimental results are compared with the quark fusion and Lund models of particle production.
