Oxygen binding of water-soluble cobalt porphyrins in aqueous solution

Water-soluble cobalt porphyrin 1Co and imidazole ligand 2 were synthesized. 1Co binds dioxygen in the presence of imidazole ligand 2 in aqueous solution. The formation of the oxygen adduct 2-1Co(O(2)) was studied using UV-vis and EPR spectroscopy. The impact of pH on the kinetic stability of the oxygen adduct was examined.     

Monitoring trace anion contamination in disk drive components

Ion chromatography was used to determine trace anionic contamination on the surface of hard disk drive components. These contaminants can have a detrimental effect on device reliability and yield. Disk drive components were soaked in deionized water and these extracts were analyzed for anions. The anions fluoride, acetate, formate, acrylate, methacrylate, chloride, nitrite, bromide, nitrate, benzoate, sulfate, oxalate, phthalate and phosphate were separated on a high-performance anion-exchange column and determined at concentrations less than 1 microg/l with suppressed conductivity detection. The extract solutions were analyzed either by injecting 1 ml or by preconcentrating 5 ml. We evaluated the performance of both methods.     

Ultrasensitive single-cell proteomics workflow identifies >1000 protein groups per mammalian cell

We report on the combination of nanodroplet sample preparation, ultra-low-flow nanoLC, high-field asymmetric ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS), and the latest-generation Orbitrap Eclipse Tribrid mass spectrometer for greatly improved single-cell proteome profiling. FAIMS effectively filtered out singly charged ions for more effective MS analysis of multiply charged peptides, resulting in an average of 1056 protein groups identified from single HeLa cells without MS1-level feature matching. This is 2.3 times more identifications than without FAIMS and a far greater level of proteome coverage for single mammalian cells than has been previously reported for a label-free study. Differential analysis of single microdissected motor neurons and interneurons from human spinal tissue indicated a similar level of proteome coverage, and the two subpopulations of cells were readily differentiated based on single-cell label-free quantification.

The combination of nanodroplet sample preparation, ultra-low-flow nanoLC, high-field asymmetric ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS) and latest-generation mass spectrometry instrumentation provides dramatically improved single-cell proteome profiling.     

Quantum-algebras and elliptic algebras

We define a quantum-algebra associated to as an associative algebra depending on two parameters. For special values of the parameters, this algebra becomes the ordinary-algebra of , or theq-deformed classical-algebra algebra of . We construct free field realizations of the quantum-algebra and the screening currents. We also point out some interesting elliptic structures arising in these algebras. Unprecedented reversible migration of amide to schiff base ligands attached to tin: latent single-site initiators for lactide polymerization

In an unprecedented transformation, amide ligands are found to attack the imine carbon centers of tridentate Schiff base ligands attached to tin. The process is reversible, and the resultant (masked) amide species can be exploited as latent single-site initiators for the controlled polymerization of rac-lactide.     

Asymmetric [2,3]-rearrangement of glycine-derived allyl ammonium ylids

The first examples of highly enantioselective [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangements of acyclic allylic ammonium ylids are reported. Thus, a range of N-{2'-[(N'-allyl-N',N'-dialkyl)ammonium]}acetyl camphor sultams undergo rearrangement at 0 degrees C in DME solution with high diastereofacial control (up to 99:1 dr) to give allylglycines in generally high yield. The power of the method has been demonstrated in a rapid and efficient synthesis of (R)-allyl glycine.
