Seaweeds can play a vital role in plant growth promotion. Two concentrations (5 and 10 mg/mL) of soluble polysaccharides extracted from the green macroalgae Ulva fasciata and Ulva lactuca were tested on Zea mays L. The carbohydrate and protein contents, and antioxidant activities (phenols, ascorbic, peroxidase, and catalase) were measured, as well as the protein banding patterns. The soluble polysaccharides at 5 mg/mL had the greatest effect on the base of all of the parameters. The highest effects of soluble polysaccharides on the Zea mays were 38.453, 96.76, 4, 835, 1.658, 7.462, and 38615.19, mg/mL for carbohydrates, proteins, phenol, µg ascorbic/mL, mg peroxidase/g dry tissue, and units/g tissue of catalase, respectively. The total number of protein bands (as determined by SDS PAGE) was not changed, but the density of the bands was correlated to the treatments. The highest band density and promoting effect were correlated to 5 mg/mL soluble polysaccharide treatments extracted from Ulva fasciata in Zea mays, which can be used as a biofertilizer. 相似文献

Heavy metals intoxication causes several health problems that necessitate finding new protective and therapeutic approaches. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of Musa sp. leaves extract (MLE) on hepato-renal toxicities induced by cadmium (Cd) in male mice. The phytochemical screening, metal chelating activity (MCA), and the median lethal dose (LD50) of MLE were determined. Fifty CD-1 male mice were used and intraperitoneally (i.p.) injected with MLE (1000 to 5000 mg/kg b.wt) for MLE LD50 determination. Another 50 mice were used for evaluating the effect of MLE on Cd toxicity. Blood samples were collected for hematological, liver, and kidney functions assessments. Liver tissue homogenates were used for determination of oxidant/antioxidant parameters. Liver and kidney tissues were harvested for histopathological and molecular investigations. MLE showed potent in vitro antioxidant activities. The MCA and LD50 of the MLE were 75 µg/mL and 3000 mg/kg b.wt, respectively. MLE showed beneficial therapeutic activity against hepato-renal toxicities in Cd-intoxicated mice, evidenced by improving the hematological, biochemical, histopathological, and molecular alterations. 相似文献

Functionalized magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4) were prepared using the coprecipitation method followed by functionalization with a multipotent antioxidant (MPAO). The MPAO was synthesized and analyzed using FTIR and NMR techniques. In this study, the functionalized nanoparticles (IONP@AO) were produced and evaluated using the FTIR, XRD, Raman, HRTEM, FESEM, VSM, and EDX techniques. The average determined particle size of IONP@AO was 10 nanometers. In addition, it demonstrated superparamagnetic properties. The magnitude of saturation magnetization value attained was 45 emu g−1. Virtual screenings of the MPAO’s potential bioactivities and safety profile were performed using PASS analysis and ADMET studies before the synthesis step. For the DPPH test, IONP@AO was found to have a four-fold greater ability to scavenge free radicals than unfunctional IONP. The antimicrobial properties of IONP@AO were also demonstrated against a variety of bacteria and fungi. The interaction of developed nanoantioxiants with biomolecules makes it a broad-spectrum candidate in biomedicine and nanomedicine. 相似文献

Thallium Selenide single crystals were prepared by a special design using Bridgmantechnique constructed by the authors. An investigation was made on the influence of temperature on the electrical conductivity and Hall effect in two crystallographic directions. The anisotropic properties were checked, and the anisotropic factor was observed to increase with temperature decrease. The energy gap as well as the ionization energy was calculated. The conductivity throughout the entire temperature range was found to be of p-type. The Hall mobilities derived from these measurements at room temperature were of the order μH⟂ = 42.66 cm2/vs and μH∥ = 112.2 cm2/vs. 相似文献

It has been found that thallium selenide single crystals exhibit bistable or memory switching. The specimen under test showed threshold switching with critical field of the switching being ∼ 103 V/cm at room temperature. Memory switching effect measurements were performed with single crystals of p–TlSe. The results strongly indicated that the phenomenon in our sample is very sensitive to temperature, light intensity and sample thickness. Memory state persists if the current is decreased slowly to its zero value. However, if current was forced to decay suddenly, the specimen returned to the high resistance state. The current-voltage characteristics is symmetrical with respect to the reverse of the applied voltage and current. The switching parameters were checked under the influence of different factors of the ambient condition. An analysis of the results was done. 相似文献

A new method for isolation and specrophotometric determination of emodin is presented. Emodin was isolated by thin layer chromatography (tlc) and column chromatography (cc) techniques, as an orange long crystalline substance. Emodin exhibits two absorption maxima, at 420 and 520 nm. Stability of the color and the effect of pH were studied. Beer's law is obeyed in the range 2–30 ppm. The method is applied to the determination of emodin in roots, stems, and leaves of Rumex cyprius plant. 相似文献

Intercalation of d-gluconate into the interlamellae of zinc-aluminum-layered double hydroxide for the formation of a food additive-inorganic layered nanohybrid was accomplished by both direct (co-precipitation) and indirect (ion-exchange) methods. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) together with CHNS and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses showed that the hybridization of d-gluconate with pure phase and good crystallinity was successfully accomplished by a direct method within ranges of pH 7.5-10, Zn to Al initial molar ratio of 2-5 and DG concentration of 0.05-0.3 M. The same nanohybrid compound was also prepared using an indirect ion-exchange method by contacting the pre-prepared LDH with 0.1 M DG for 80 min. The basal spacing of the nanohybrid synthesized by the direct method ranged between 9 and 12.0 Å while that synthesized by the indirect ion-exchange method was 14.0 Å. The crystallinity of the latter was higher than the former and it inherited the crystallinity of the precursor. This work shows that a food additive, such as d-gluconate, can be hybridized into an inorganic host for the formation of a new nanohybrid compound, which can be used to regulate the release of acidity in the food industry. 相似文献
