Low Cost, High Efficiency, Gain Flattened L Band EDFA Using FBGs as C Band Seed Generators

A low cost, coolerless 980nm diode pumped, gain flattened L band EDFA with fast transient control, high pump efficiency and gain clamping effect was realized by using FBGs as C band seed generators.     

Living/controlled radical copolymerization of N‐substituted maleimides with styrene in 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate and anisole

The atom transfer radical copolymerization of N‐substituted maleimides such as N‐phenylmaleimide (PhMI), N‐cyclohexylmaleimide (ChMI), and N‐butylmaleimide (NBMI) with styrene initiated with dendritic polyarylether 2‐bromoisobutyrates in an ionic liquid, 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim][PF₆]), at room temperature and anisole at 110 °C was investigated. The dendritic‐linear block copolymers obtained in ionic liquid possessed well‐defined molecular weight and low polydispersity (1.05 < M_w/M_n < 1.32) and could be used as a macroinitiator for chain‐extension polymerization, suggesting the living nature of the reaction system. The ionic liquids containing catalyst could be recycled in the atom transfer radical polymerization systems without further treatment. Compared with polymerization conducted in anisole, the polymerization in ionic liquid had a stronger tendency for alternation. The tendency for alternation decreased in the order PhMI > NBMI > ChMI in [bmim][PF₆] and PhMI > ChMI > NBMI in anisole. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Yellow‐light‐emitting cyano‐substituted poly[(1,3‐phenylene vinylene)‐alt‐(1,4‐phenylene vinylene)] derivative: Its synthesis and optical properties

A soluble cyano‐substituted poly[(1,3‐phenylene vinylene)‐alt‐(1,4‐phenylene vinylene)] derivative ( 9 ) was synthesized and characterized. Comparison between 9 and its model compound ( 10 ) showed that the chromophore in 9 remained to be well defined as a result of a π‐conjugation interruption at adjacent m‐phenylene units. The attachment of a cyano substituent only at the β position of the vinylene allowed the maximum electronic impact of the cyano group on the optical properties of the poly(p‐phenylene vinylene) material. At a low temperature (?108 or ?198 °C), the vibronic structures of 9 and 10 were partially resolved. The absorption and emission spectra of a film of 9 were less temperature‐dependent than those of a film of 10 , indicating that the former had a lower tendency to aggregate. A light‐emitting diode (LED) based on 9 emitted yellow light (λ_max ≈ 578 nm) with an external quantum efficiency of 0.03%. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Roles of rhenium diimine complexes as metal‐ion probes and photosensitizers in functional polyurethanes

Polyurethanes incorporated with rhenium diimine complexes were synthesized. The polymers exhibited interesting morphologies and solution properties. Results from gel permeation chromatography suggested the formation of polymer aggregates in solutions. The polymers could act as probes for metal ions. The addition of metal ions to polymer solutions led to significant changes in the electronic absorption properties of the polymer solutions. This was attributed to the interactions between the polyether moieties and metal ions. The metal complexes could also act as efficient photosensitizers. After doping with charge‐transport viologens, the photoconductivity of the polymers was greatly enhanced. The experimental quantum efficiency was simulated with Onsager's theory. Crystallographic report: Diiodo[tris(2‐pyridyl)amine]mercury(II), [(C5H4N)3N]HgI2

In mononuclear HgI₂[(C₅H₄N)₃N], mercury is tetrahedrally coordinated by two nitrogen atoms of a tris(2‐pyridyl)amine ligand and two iodides. The coordination moieties are connected by weak intermolecular Hg(II)···I interactions to give a one‐dimensional structure. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

CNx纳米管的制备、结构观察及低场致电子发射性能研究

采用高温热解法，以乙二胺为前驱液，在沉积有铁催化剂的p型硅（111）基底上制备出了定向生长的CNx纳米管.利用扫描电子显微镜、高分辨率透射电子显微镜和拉曼光谱对CNx纳米管进行了形貌观察和表征.CNx纳米管的高度在20?μm左右，直径在50—100nm之间，具有明显的“竹节状”结构，结晶有序度较差.对CNx纳米管薄膜进行低场致发射性能测试：外加电场为1.4V/μm，观察到20?μA /cm2发射电流，外电场升至2.54V/μm时发射电流达到1.280mA/cm2，在较高外电场下，没有发现电流“饱和”.这比 关键词： CNx纳米管 高温热解 “竹节状”结构 场致发射     

线性均衡约束最优化的一个广义投影强次可行方向法

本文讨论带线性均衡约束最优化问题,首先利用摄动技术和一个互补函数将问题等价转化为一般约束最优化问题,然后结合广义投影技术和强次可行方向法思想,建立了问题的一个新算法.算法在迭代过程中保证搜索方向不为零,从而使得每次迭代只需计算一次广义投影.在适当的条件下,证明了算法的全局收敛性,并对算法进行了初步的数值试验.     

A Large Conformational Change of a Bridged b-Cyclodextrin Dimer in Aqueous Solution

As artificial enzymes, the binding constants of cyclodextrins (CDs) and their substrates are expected to be high1. Transport properties of acetone aqueous solutions: molecular dynamics simulation and NMR studies

Two quantities η_rel and are applied to study the nonideal acetone–water association mixture. An all-atom acetone model and a TIP5P water model have been adopted for molecular dynamics simulation. We study the transport properties of the system comparing the 's of strong hydrogen bond and weak contact based on transport properties, MD simulations together with NMR experimental data and find good agreement of concentration dependence, which exhibits the cooperation effect.
