The sol–gel method has been used for the synthesis of borosilicate gels from mixtures of methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) and
dimethyldiethoxysilane (DMDES) and boric acid. The use of boric acid, B(OH)3 allows the hydrolysis and condensation of hybrid silicon alkoxides without further addition of water or catalyst. The use
of difunctional silicon units, –(CH3)2SiO– promote the formation, during the sol–gel process, of linear oligomers which facilitate fiber drawing before gelation.
Gel characterization performed by FT-IR, XRD, TG-DTA and DCS analysis indicates the formation of a mixed network with incorporation
of the boron units via =B-O-Si≡ bridges. The formation of borosiloxane bonds seems favored by the presence of DMDES. SiBOC
glasses were obtained after pyrolysis of the borosilicate gels in argon atmosphere at 1000 °C. TG-DTA study indicates that
the ceramic yield decreases by increasing the amount of DMDES. Gel fibers were successfully prepared from convenient partially-aged
solutions by hand drawing. Pyrolysis of the obtained gel fibers under argon atmosphere at 1000 °C open the possibility to
produce SiBOC homogeneous glass fibers with diameter as low as 10 μm. 相似文献

Controlled drug delivery remains a research focus for public health to enhance patient compliance, drug efficiency and reduce
the side effects of drugs. Pectin, an edible plant polysaccharide, has been shown to be useful for the construction of drug
delivery systems for specific drug delivery. Several pectin derived formulations have been developed in our laboratory and
tested in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo for the ability to deliver bioactive substances for therapeutic purposes in the context of interactions with living tissues.
Pectin derivatives carrying primary amine groups were more mucoadhesive and have shown potential in nasal drug delivery and
other mucosal drug delivery. Pectin derivatives with highly esterified galacturonic acid residues are more hydrophobic and
able to sustain the release of incorporated fragrances for a prolonged duration. Less esterified pectin derivatives are able
to penetrate deeper into the skin and may be useful in aromatherapy formulations. Pectin, in combination with zein, a corn
protein, forms hydrogel beads. The bound zein restricts bead swelling and retains the porosity of the beads; the pectin networks
shield the zein from protease attack. The complex beads are ideal vehicles for colon-specific drug delivery. Studies presented
in this paper indicate the flexibility and possibility to tailor pectin macromolecules into a variety of drug delivery systems
to meet different clinical requirements.

Background
The common event in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) or prion diseases is the conversion of host-encoded protease sensitive cellular prion protein (PrPC) into strain dependent isoforms of scrapie associated protease resistant isoform (PrPSc) of prion protein (PrP). These processes are determined by similarities as well as strain dependent variations in the PrP structure. Selective self-interaction between PrP molecules is the most probable basis for initiation of these processes, potentially influenced by chaperone molecules, however the mechanisms behind these processes are far from understood. We previously determined that polymorphisms do not affect initial PrPC to PrPSc binding but rather modulate a subsequent step in the conversion process. Determining possible sites of self-interaction could elucidate which amino acid(s) or amino acid sequences contribute to binding and further conversion into other isoforms. Mn-, LaMn- and LaCaMn-citrates were synthesized at 60–120°C in ethylene glycol medium using chlorides or nitrates as metal
sources. Their composition, IR spectra and thermal decomposition were studied. Equimolar La/Mn ratio has been established
in the complex, prepared from chloride solution with the same initial composition of the metals. In the isolated three-metallic
complex the molar ratio of the metals deviates from the composition in the initial solution. The final products of the heating
of Mn- and mixed-metal LaMn-citrates at 1000°C are phase-homogeneous Mn3O4 (hausmannite) and LaMnO3 respectively. Parasitic phase(s) are observed in LaxCa1−xMnyO3, produced from LaCaMn-citrate. 相似文献

Summary An enormous development has taken place within the last five years in synchronous teaching over the Internet, i.e. both the teacher and the students are simultaneously in direct communication with each other as in a normal class-room or auditorium. With this concept it is possible to communicate orally, to exchange Power Point Presentations, documents, programmes and live web-camera pictures. It is even possible to use an electronic black board on which both the teacher and the students can work simultaneously. The great advantage with this type of teaching is that it is not restricted to a single class-room/auditorium with limited access, but in a virtual room accessible to everybody in principle all over the world, and which certainly open up new possibilities in teaching. Summary A sensitive and selective liquid chromatographic method coupled with electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC–ESI–MS–MS) has been developed for quantification of felodipine in human and dog plasma. Compounds were separated on a 2.0 mm × 150 mm, 5.0 m particle, C8 column with 1 m m ammonium acetate–acetonitrile, 20:80, pH 6.0, as mobile phase at a flow rate of 200 L min–1. Nifedipine was used as internal standard. Plasma samples were extracted with diethyl ether, the centrifuged upper layer was evaporated, the residue was reconstituted with mobile phase, and the reconstituted samples were injected. The analytical column lasted for at least 1000 injections. By use of multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode in MS–MS felodipine and nifedipine were detected without severe interference from the human or dog plasma matrix. Felodipine produced a protonated precursor ion ([M + H]+) at m/z 384 and a corresponding product ion at m/z 338. And internal standard (nifedipine) produced a protonated precursor ion ([M + H]+) at m/z 347 and a corresponding product ion at m/z 315. Detection of felodipine in human and dog plasma was accurate and precise, with a limit of quantification of 0.05 ng mL–1. The method has been successfully applied to preliminary pharmacokinetic study of felodipine in human and dog plasma. 相似文献

To prepare ultrahigh molecular weight (UHMW) poly(vinyl pivalate) (PVPi) with high conversion and high linearity for a precursor of syndiotacticity-rich UHMW poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), vinyl pivalate (VPi) was suspension polymerized using a low-temperature initiator, 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile) (ADMVN), and the effects of polymerization conditions on the polymerization behavior and molecular structures of PVPi and PVA prepared by saponifying PVPi were investigated. Suspension polymerization was slightly inferior to bulk polymerization in increasing the molecular weight of PVA. In contrast, the former was superior in increasing the conversion of the polymer. Suspension polymerization of VPi at 25 °C by controlling various polymerization factors proved to be successful in obtaining PVA of UHMW (number-average degree of polymerization (Pn): 14,700-16,700), high syndiotactic diad content (62%), and of high yield (ultimate conversion of VPi into PVPi: 85-90%). In the case of bulk polymerization of VPi under the same conditions, maximum Pn, conversion of 15,800-17,000, and 25-35% were obtained, respectively. The degree of branching was lower and the Pn and syndiotacticity were higher with PVA prepared from PVPi polymerized at lower temperatures. All PVAs from PVPi suspension-polymerized at 25 °C were fibrous, with a high degree of crystallinity and orientation of the crystallites. 相似文献

Abstract— Since Hayflick's pioneering work in the early sixties, human diploid fibroblasts have become a widely accepted in vitro model system. Recently, Bayreuther and co-workers extended this experimental approach showing that fibroblasts in culture resemble, in their design, the hemopoietic stem-cell differentiation system. They found that the chemical agent mitomycin C accelerates the differentiation pathway from mitotic to postmitotic fibroblasts. We measured the response of endogenous glutathione levels after UVA irradiation (320-400 nm) in mitotic and mitomycin C-induced postmitotic human skin fibroblasts and foreskin-derived keratinocytes. The initial levels in mitotic foreskin derived human fibroblasts were 14.4 nmol glutathione per mg protein, whereas a 30% higher value was obtained in matching foreskin-derived keratinocytes. Similiar elevated levels of this important intracellular free radical scavenging system were found in fibroblasts of a donor suffering from xeroderma pigmentosum. Furthermore, three to four times higher levels of glutathione in mitomycin C-treated mitotic fibroblasts have been determined. In mitotic skin fibroblasts, UVA irradiation resulted in a depletion of glutathione up to 90% following a fluence of 1.0 MJ/m2UVA radiation. Higher initial glutathione levels were found in keratinocytes and mitomycin C-treated skin fibroblasts. In these fibroblasts a 70% depletion was detected and a much lower depletion (10-20%) was seen in some keratinocyte cell lines following fluences up to 1.0 MJ/m2. The depletion in skin fibroblasts was retained after 24 h following a fluence of 0.75 MJ/m2UVA light. In view of the fact that glutathione has been shown to be involved in a variety of metabolic processes and plays a role in cellular protection against UVA radiation, our results imply that the fibroblast differentiation system is a very useful tool to unravel the complex mechanism of UVA-induced oxidative stress. 相似文献
