We investigate the group velocity of light in a one-dimensional volume-index grating inside a photorefractive LiNbO>(3) crystal. The slowdown of the group electromagnetic propagation is observed experimentally by tuning of the wave number of the optical beam close to the outside edge of the forbidden bandgap. We obtain a large group index of up to 7.5 in a 3.5-cm crystal sample. The group index is compared with the result of a theoretical derivation. The results are presented and discussed.  相似文献

An optical planar waveguide is investigated in ZnO-doped periodically poled lithium niobate formed by He+ implantation. Optical losses were found to be 2 dB/cm. Second-harmonic generation is used to produce a green laser beam by quasi-phase matching in the obtained waveguide. The conversion efficiency was found to be 10-2%/W. In this study, nanoparticle emission of TiO2 nanopowder coated on different substrates including wood, polymer, and tile, was evaluated in a simulation box and measured with a Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS) for the first time. The coating process for the substrate followed the instructions given by the supply company. In the simulation box, UV light, a fan, and a rubber knife were used to simulate the sun light, wind, and human contacting conditions. Among the three selected substrates, tile coated with TiO2 nanopowder was found to have the highest particle emission (22 #/cm3 at 55 nm) due to nanopowder separation during the simulation process. The UV light was shown to increase the release of particle below 200 nm from TiO2 nanopowder coating materials. The results show that, under the conditions of UV lamps, a fan and scraping motion, particle number concentration or average emission rate decreases significantly after 60 and 90 min for TiO2/polymer and TiO2/wood, respectively. However, the emission rate continued to increase after 2 h of testing for TiO2/tile. It is suggested that nanoparticle emission evaluation is necessary for products with nanopowder coating.  相似文献

PbTiO3 thin films were successfully deposited on the LaNiO3 (LNO) substrates by the liquid-phase deposition (LPD) method and post-annealing at various temperatures. The structure, morphology and composition of the films were investigated by some analytical techniques. The as-deposited films are amorphous and composed of densely packed spherical particles. The films with the grain size of 180 nm start to decompose and crystallize into perovskite structure at 450 °C and show a perovskite single phase with tetragonal structure after annealing at 650 °C. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis reveals that the as-deposited film contains fluorine and carbon as major impurities. Fluorine could be completely eliminated by annealing at 650 °C in air.  相似文献

We present the study of angular selectivity for holographic multiplexing based on random phase encoding by a ground glass. The rotational selectivity of the volume hologram is calculated theoretically and coincides with the experimental measurement. By controlling the parameters including rotational center, effective numerical aperture of both volume hologram and the ground glass, we can obtain different rotational selectivity applied to random phase encoding in volume holographic storage.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of a photocleavable block copolymer containing an ortho‐nitrobenzyl (ONB) linker between poly(methyl methacrylate) and poly(d ‐lactide) blocks is presented here. The block copolymers were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of MMA followed by ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of d ‐Lactide and ROP of d ‐lactide followed by ATRP of MMA from a difunctional photoresponsive ONB initiator, respectively. The challenges and limitations during synthesis of the photocleavable block copolymers using the difunctional photoresponsive ONB initiator are discussed. The photocleavage of the copolymers occurs under mild conditions by simple irradiation with 302 nm wavelength UV light (Relative intensity at 7.6 cm: 1500 μW/cm2) for several hours. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have synthesized two conjugated polymers ( P1 , P2 ) containing alternating electron‐donating and ‐accepting units, based on N‐alkyl‐2,7‐carbazole, 4,7‐di(thiophen‐5‐yl)‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole and 3‐[2‐(4‐pyridyl)vinyl]thiophene units. These conjugated polymers contained different contents of pyridine units, which were incorporated to form hydrogen bonds with [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid (PCBA). When these hydrogen bonding interactions were present in the polymer thin films, their thermal stability improved; deterioration, which occurred through aggregation of PCBA methyl ester after lengthy annealing times, was also suppressed. The power conversion efficiency of a device incorporating the film featuring hydrogen bonding interactions remained at 75% of the original value after thermal annealing for 5 h at 140 °C. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A non-steady-state mathematical model system for the kinetics of adsorption and reduction of Cr(VI) by Escherichia coli (E. coli) biofilm on chitosan bead (EBCB) process was derived. The mechanisms in the model system included Cr(VI) adsorption by chitosan beads, Cr(VI) bioreduction by E. coli cells and Cr(VI) mass transport diffusion. Batch kinetic tests were performed to determine surface diffusivity of Cr(VI), adsorption parameters for Cr(VI) and biokinetic parameters of E. coli 33456. Experiments were conducted using an EBCB reactor system with high recycled rate to approximate a completely-mixed flow reactor for model verification. The experimental results indicated that E. coli biofilm bioregenerated the chitosan beads after E. coli biofilm has grown significantly. Cr(VI) reducing efficiency by E. coli was about 84% when Cr(VI) concentration in the influent was 5 mg/L at a steady-state condition. The concentration of suspended E. coli cells reached up to 10 mg/L while the thickness of attached E. coli cells was estimated to be 150 μm at a steady-state condition by model prediction. The comparisons of experimental data and model simulation show that EBCB model system for Cr(VI) adsorption and reduction can predict the experimental results well.  相似文献
