Efficient and stereoselective synthesis of novel cis-4-substituted proline analogues

A series of novel cis-4-substituted proline analogues were designed and synthesized. Highly stereoselective alkylations at the γ-position of glutamic ester 2 were achieved, followed by reduction, mesylation, and cyclization to afford the title compounds 1 in good yields and high diastereoselectivity.     

Surface plasmon resonance and Raman scattering effects studied for layers deposited on Spreeta sensors

The possibility to detect and prospectively to characterize deposited organic layers directly on Spreeta sensors by Fourier transform Raman spectroscopy was studied. A special holder of sensors that enabled measurement of FT Raman spectra was developed. The effects of various angles of incidence of the laser beam on the sensor surface were studied with respect to the intensity of Raman spectra and to the risks of artifacts. No effect of measurement of FT Raman spectra on SPR functionality of sensors was proven. The key role of the surface morphology of the sensing gold layer on repeatability of SPR curves and the possibility to check the surface by optical microscopy was demonstrated.     

(S)- or (R)-3-(E-enoyl)-4-phenyl-1,3-oxazolidin-2-ones: ideal Michael acceptors to afford a virtually complete control of simple and face diastereoselectivity in addition reactions with glycine derivatives

[formula: see text] Enantiomerically pure (S)- or (R)-3-(E-enoyl)-4-phenyl-1,3-oxazolidin-2-ones were found to serve as ideal Michael acceptors in addition reactions with achiral Ni(II) complexes of glycine Schiff bases. Virtually complete control of simple and face diastereoselectivity, observed in these reactions, combined with quantitative chemical yields renders this methodology synthetically superior to the previous methods.     

Sensitivity- and Gradient-Enhanced Heteronuclear Coupled/Decoupled HSQC–TOCSY Experiments for Measuring Long-Range Heteronuclear Coupling Constants

A pulsed field gradient version of the sensitivity-enhanced 2D HSQC–TOCSY experiment is proposed for measurement of long-range heteronuclear coupling constants. The coupling constants are obtained by computer-aided analysis of mixed-phase multiplets with and without the heteronuclear splitting. Generation of pure phase data is not required. Since large¹J_XHandJ_HHcouplings are used for coherence transfer, smallⁿJ_XHcan be measured accurately, which could be difficult to obtain from purely heteronuclear polarization transfer experiments.     

Asymmetric Eschenmoser-Claisen rearrangement for anti-beta-substituted gamma,delta-unsaturated amino acids

Optically active anti-beta-substituted gamma,delta-unsaturated amino acids are important synthetic building blocks in organic synthesis and for peptidomimetics. A novel asymmetric Eschenmoser-Claisen rearrangement with use of a C2-symmetric chiral auxiliary was developed to generate this type of amino acid. Excellent diastereoselectivities and high enantioselectivities (87-93% ee) were obtained after the chiral auxiliary was removed via iodolactonization/zinc reduction.
