Magnetic resonance imaging is a commonly used diagnostic method in medicinal practice as well as in biological and preclinical research. Contrast agents (CAs), which are often applied are mostly based on Gd(III) complexes. In this paper, the ligand types and structures of their complexes on one side and a set of the physico-chemical parameters governing properties of the CAs on the other side are discussed. The solid-state structures of lanthanide(III) complexes of open-chain and macrocyclic ligands and their structural features are compared. Examples of tuning of ligand structures to alter the relaxometric properties of gadolinium(III) complexes as a number of coordinated water molecules, their residence time (exchange rate) or reorientation time of the complexes are given. Influence of the structural changes of the ligands on thermodynamic stability and kinetic inertness/lability of their lanthanide(III) complexes is discussed. 相似文献

The title ligand, 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-1,4-diyl-bis(methylphosphonic acid) (H4te2p1,4, H4L), was prepared by an optimized synthetic approach and its complexing properties towards selected metal ions were studied by means of potentiometry. The ligand forms a very stable complex with copper(II) (log beta(CuL) = 27.21), with a high selectivity over binding of other metal ions (e.g. log beta(ZnL) = 20.16, log beta(NiL) = 21.92). The crystal structures of two intermediates in the ligand synthesis and two forms of the nickel(II) complex (obtained by crystallization at different pH) were determined. From acid solution, the crystals of trans-O,O-[Ni(H3L)]Cl.H2O were isolated. In such complex species, one phosphonate pendant arm is double- and the second arm is monoprotonated. The isolation of such species demonstrates a high kinetic inertness of the complex. The central metal ion is surrounded by four in-plane nitrogen atoms (in the ring configuration III) and two oxygen atoms of pendant moieties in the apical positions of octahedral coordination sphere. From neutral solution, the crystals of (trans-O,O-[Ni(H2L)])3.5H2O were isolated. The molecular structures of the complex units found in this structure are analogous to that found in trans-O,O-[Ni(H3L)]Cl.H2O. 相似文献

A GC/MS procedure has been developed, optimized, and applied to characterization of oil binders in paintings. The procedure involves hydrolysis of lipids to fatty acids (FAs) and derivatization of FAs to fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) by a solution of sodium methanolate in methanol at an elevated temperature. FAMEs are analyzed by temperature-programed GC followed by full-scan MS. Old and dried samples are subjected to extraction of nonpolymerized FAMEs into dichloromethane prior to hydrolysis. The method provides a good repeatability of results and has been applied to the characterization of common plant oils used in paintings, to commercial oil and tempera paints, to model painting samples, and to samples taken from real paintings. The fresh oils and binders can readily be identified and characterized. The ratio of the methyl esters of palmitic and stearic acids can be used to characterize oil binders in old works of art. 相似文献

Resonance Raman optical activity (RROA) spectra with high sensitivity reveal details on molecular structure, chirality, and excited electronic properties. Despite the difficulty of the measurements, the recorded data for the Co(III) complex with S,S-N,N-ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid are of exceptional quality and, coupled with the theory, spectacularly document the molecular behavior in resonance. This includes a huge enhancement of the chiral scattering, contribution of the antisymmetric polarizabilities to the signal, and the Herzberg-Teller effect significantly shaping the spectra. The chiral component is by about one order of magnitude bigger than for an analogous aluminum complex. The band assignment and intensity profile were confirmed by simulations based on density functional and vibronic theories. The resonance was attributed to the S0→S3 transition, with the strongest signal enhancement of Raman and ROA spectral bands below about 800 cm−1. For higher wavenumbers, other excited electronic states contribute to the scattering in a less resonant way. RROA spectroscopy thus appears as a unique tool to study the structure and electronic states of absorbing molecules in analytical chemistry, biology, and material science. 相似文献

Abundant transition metal borides are emerging as promising electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts which have a potential to substitute noble metals. Those containing graphene-like (flat) boron layers, such as α-MoB2, are particularly promising and their performance can be further enhanced via doping by the second metal. In order to understand intrinsic effect of doping and rationalize selection of dopants, we employ density functional theory (DFT) calculations to study substitutional doping of α-MoB2 by transition metals as a route towards systematic improvement of intrinsic catalytic activity towards HER. We calculated thermodynamic stability of various transition metal elements to select metals which form a stable ternary phase with α-MoB2. We inspected surface stability of dopants and assessed catalytic activity of doped surface through hydrogen binding free energy at various hydrogen coverages. We calculated the reaction barriers and pathways for the Tafel step of HER for the most promising dopants. The results highlight iron as the best dopant, simultaneously lowering the reaction barrier of the Tafel step while having suitable thermodynamic stability within MoB2 lattice. 相似文献

While the structures of Brønsted acid sites (BAS) in zeolites are well understood, those of Lewis acid sites (LAS) remain an active area of investigation. Under hydrated conditions, the reversible formation of framework-associated octahedral aluminum has been observed in zeolites in the acidic form. However, the structure and formation mechanisms are currently unknown. In this work, combined experimental 27Al NMR spectroscopy and computational data reveal for the first time the details of the zeolite framework-associated octahedral aluminium. The octahedral LAS site becomes kinetically allowed and thermodynamically stable under wet conditions in the presence of multiple nearby BAS sites. The critical condition for the existence of such octahedral LAS appears to be the availability of three protons: at lower proton concentration, either by increasing the Si/Al or by ion-exchange to non-acidic form, the tetrahedral BAS becomes thermodynamically more stable. Well-defined polystyrene-block-poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile) PS-block-P(S-co-AN) and poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile-co-5-vinyltetrazole) PS-block-P(S-co-AN-co-5VT) block copolymers with various content of acrylonitrile units in the statistical block were synthesized by nitroxide mediated radical polymerization (NMRP) and post-functionalized using efficient “click” chemistry process. In the second step, acrylonitrile units were successfully modified using 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (“click” chemistry) type polymer analogue reaction. The original pristine diblock copolymers can be molecularly dissolved in THF and dioxane while the “tetrazolated” versions aggregate to clusters as determined by dynamic light scattering (DLS). Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) revealed ordered lamellar morphology with interlamellar spacing d = 60 nm increasing to d = 80 nm for “tetrazolated” diblock copolymers. The morphological features of diblock copolymer thin layers observed by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) depend on the tunable content of both acrylonitrile and 5-vinyltetrazole units and on the quality (polarity) of the solvents used. 相似文献

Organometallic ruthenium(II) complexes of general formula [Ru(eta(6)-arene)Cl(2)(NC(5)H(4)OOC-C(5)H(4)FeC(5)H(5))], where arene = C(6)H(6) (1), C(6)H(5)Me (2), p-iPrC(6)H(4)Me (3), and C(6)Me(6) (4), and of general formula [Ru(eta(6)-arene)Cl(2)](2)(NC(5)H(4)OOC-C(5)H(4)FeC(5)H(4)-COOC(5)H(4)N), where arene = p-iPrC(6)H(4)Me (5) and C(6)Me(6) (6), have been synthesized and characterized, the molecular structures of these complexes being confirmed by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis of complex 4 as a representative example. The redox properties and in vitro anticancer activities of complexes 1-6 have been studied. All the compounds are moderately cytotoxic toward the A2780 and A2780cisR (cisplatin-resistant) human ovarian carcinoma cell lines. The diruthenium arene complexes 5 and 6 are about twice as active as their mononuclear analogues 3 and 4. Cyclic voltammetry revealed a good correlation of the RuII/RuIII redox potentials of 1-4 and the number of alkyl substituents in the arene ligand. 相似文献
