Die Kristallstruktur des Natriumorthogermanats,Na4GeO4

The crystal structure of the title compound has been determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data and refined toR=0.125. The unit cell is triclinic, space group P, (No. 2),a=5.688(1),b=5.701(1),c=8.583(1) Å, =81.32(1), =71.50(1), =67.95(1)° andZ=2. The structure consists of isolated [GeO₄] tetrahedra linked together by four- and five-coordinate sodium atoms. Na₄GeO₄ is isostructural with Na₄CoO₄ (which has been described to be non-centrosymmetric and for which a centrosymmetric model is presented), K₄GeO₄, K₄SnO₄ and K₄PbO₄.

Zusammenfassung Die Spin-Spin-Kopplungskonstanten der olefinischen Protonen mit dem ³¹P sowie die Feinstruktur der ¹H-NMR-Spektren sind charakteristisch für die Lage der Doppelbindung. Vielfach kann auch die Intensität der _C=C-Schwingung im IR zur Bestimmung der Doppelbindungslage benutzt werden. Massenspektren geben nur in Ausnahmefällen Hinweise, können jedoch zur exakten Bestimmung des Molekulargewichts dienen.

Summary The spin-spin coupling constants of the olefinic protons with the phosphorus-31 as well as the fine structure of the nmr-spectra are characteristic for the position of the double bond. In the infrared, the intensity of the _C=C-frequency may often serve as indication of the position of the double bond. The applicability of mass spectra is limited to a small number of compounds. They may be used, however, for an accurate determination of the molecular weight.

4-Aryldihydropyridines,a New Class of Highly Active Calcium Antagonists

The aryldihydropyridines first prepared by Hantzsch almost 100 years ago have recently been found to be highly effective calcium antagonists with suitable pharmacological profiles. An illustrative example is dimethyl-l,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethyl-4-(o-nitrophenyl)pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate (Nifedipine) which is already employed therapeutically. This substance lowers the frequency of attack of angina pectoris and reduces blood pressure. The discovery of the therapeutic activity of this class of substances initiated renewed investigation of the Hantzsch condensation and the synthesis of numerous 4-aryldihydropyridines and related compounds. Qualitative and quantitative structure/activity relationships of these substances can be deduced from their biological data.     

Synthese und Konfigurationszuordnung von potentiell antimikrobiellen 5,6-Dihydroxyisobenzofuranonen

Summary Oxidation of isobenzofuranone1 yielded in a diastereoselective reaction epoxide2. Acidolysis of2 resulted in a mixture oftrans-glycols6 a (88%) and7 a (4%), which were separated by crystallization. The relative configuration of6 a and7 a at the chiral centers 3 a, 5, 6, and 7 a was determined by¹H-NMR-spectroscopy and X-ray analysis of O-acetylated and 7 a-methylated derivatives.

     

Chemoselective Removal of Protecting Groups from O-Glycosyl Amino Acid and Peptide (Methoxyethoxy)ethyl Esters Using Lipases and Papain

The selective C-terminal deprotection of O-glycopeptide (methoxyethoxy)ethyl esters is achieved under mild conditions (pH 6.6, 37 degrees C) by enzymatic hydrolysis using papain or lipase M from Mucor javanicus to give building blocks useful for chain-extending glycopeptide synthesis. On the other hand, the selective removal of acetyl protecting groups from the saccharide portion of glycopeptides is accomplished by alternative enzymatic hydrolysis with lipase WG from wheat germ to furnish model substrates for enzymatic glycosyl transfer reactions in order to extend the carbohydrate side chain of these conjugates.     

A Variable-Pressure 2D 1H-NMR Study of the Mechanism of Trimethyl Phosphate Intermolecular Exchange and cis/trains-Isomerisation of Tetrachlorobis(trimethyl phosphate)zirconium(IV)

In chloroform, [ZrCl₄·2(MeO)₃PO] exists in both cis- and trans-isomeric forms. Three reactions can be envisaged in the presence of excess (MeO)₃PO = L: (1) cis-[ZrCl₄·2L] + *L?cis-[ZrCl₄·L*L]+ L; (2) trans-[ZrCl₄·2L] + *L ? trans-[ZrCl₄·L*L] + L; (3) cis-[ZrCl₄·2L]? trans-[ZrCl₄·2L]. To distinguish between these possible reaction pathways, we have used 2D ₁H-NMR spectroscopy. For the first time, variable-pressure 2D exchange spectra were used for mechanistic assignments. cis/trans-Isomerisation was found to be the fastest reaction (in CHCl₃/CDCl₃), with a small acceleration at higher pressure: it is concluded to be an intramolecular process with a slightly contracted six-coordinate transition state. The intermolecular (MeO)₃PO exchange on the cis- and trans-isomer are second-order processes and are strongly accelerated by increased pressure: I_a mechanisms are suggested without ruling out limiting A mechanisms.     

R?ntgenspektrometrische Goldbestimmung in sulfidischen Erzen nach chemischer Anreicherung

Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Goldbestimmung an sulfidischen Erzen für den Bereich von 0,05–5 ppm bei 20 g Einwaage beschrieben. Das Gold wird durch Salpetersäurebehandlung von den übrigen Metallen getrennt, mit Salzsäure/ Salpetersäure gelöst und mit Selen als innerem Standard und Tellur als Spurenfänger mittels Zinn(II)-chlorid gefällt. Der Niederschlag wird auf ein Membranfilter aufgezogen. Die Goldbestimmung erfolgt über den Impulsratenquotienten der Gold L- und Selen K-Linien. Die störende Molybdän K-Strahlung und die Comptonstreuung werden durch ein Zirkoniumblech auf dem Röhrenfenster unterdrückt. Der Variationskoeffizient beträgt 20% für 0,2–5 ppm und 53,6% für 0,05 ppm.

Summary A method is described for the determination of gold in sulphide ores within the concentration range of 0.05–5 ppm with sample weights of 20 g. Gold is separated from the other metals by treatment with nitric acid, dissolved by hydrochloric acid, containing some nitric acid, and is finally precipitated by stannous chloride applying selenium as internal standard and tellurium as collecting agent. The precipitate is mounted on a diaphragm filter and the determination of gold is carried out by X-ray analysis suppressing the disturbing Mo _K radiation and compton scattering by a zirconium sheet-metal on the X-ray tube. The pulse rate quotient of the lines Au _L /Se _K is a function of the concentration of gold. The variation coefficient is 20% for 0.2–5 ppm and 53.6% for 0.05 ppm.

Über die Stabilität der stationären Punkte eines Verbandes mit unstetigen Ableitungen der potentiellen Energie

Zusammenfassung Ein autonomer und konservativer Verband mit einem Freiheitsgrad wird betrachtet. Die potentielle Energie des Verbandes wird mit Hilfe der Heaviside Funktion ausgedrückt und ihre Ableitungen besitzen Unstetigkeitsstellen. Mit der potentiellen EnergieU wird eine DistributionU gebildet und die ersten zwei Ableitungen dieser Distribution bestimmt. In den DistributionenU undU erscheinen Funktionen und Werte welche mitV, K undR bezeichnet werden und welche es erlauben die Natur der Unstetigkeitsstellen zu bestimmen. In einer Ebene mit den Achsen OV und OR werden die Bereiche der stabilen und instabilen Gleichgewichtslagen dargestellt. Dir kritischen Fälle an den Grenzen der Bereiche werden mit Hilfe vonK untersucht. Abschließend wird ein Beispiel gebracht.

Summary An undamped autonomous system with one degree of freedom is considered. The potential energy of the system is expressed with the help of the Heaviside function and its derivatives possess points of discontinuity. With the potential energyU a distributionU is determined and the first and second differentiation of the distributionU are calculated. In the distributionsU andU appear functions and values denoted byV, K, R which permit to establish the nature of the points of discontinuity. In a plane with the axes OV and OR the regions of stable and instable equilibrium positions are represented. Critical cases on the boundaries between the different regions are analysed with the help ofK. An example is also considered.

     

Use of FTIR spectroscopy in the investigation of catalytic reactions in zeolites—Possibilities and limitations

FTIR-spectroscopic investigations of catalytic reactions yield detailed information about the interaction of adsorbed molecules with the catalyst and kinetic data of the surface reaction, if the participating molecules show vibrations whose position and intensity in the IR-spectrum depend on the sorption state and the quantity adsorbed. In this paper, the possibilities and limitations of the method are represented by two examples.
