Reduction of range walk error in direct detection laser radar using a Geiger mode avalanche photodiode

In this paper a new technique to improve the accuracy of direct detection time-of-flight (TOF) laser radar using a Geiger mode avalanche photodiode (APD) by reducing range walk error is presented. Assuming that the creation of primary electrons in the APD is Poisson-distributed, a mathematical model for the detection probability of each time bin in a TOF histogram is derived. It is shown that the range walk error depends on the energy of the laser-return pulse at the Geiger mode APD with the mathematical model regarded as the TOF histogram of multiple laser pulses in a single-hit case. The method which reduces the range walk error with the center of mass detection in the TOF histogram is then proposed, and the experiment for its proof is carried out.     

Multiparty quantum secret sharing with Bell states and Bell measurements

We present a multiparty quantum secret sharing scheme and analyze its security. In this scheme, the sender Alice takes EPR pairs in Bell states as quantum resources. In order to obtain the shared key, all participants only need to perform Bell measurements, not to perform any local unitary operation. The total efficiency in this scheme approaches 100% as the classical information exchanged is not necessary except for the eavesdropping checks.     

Characterization of structural irregularities in highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber using torsional acoustic polarization coupling

We demonstrate a novel method to characterize structural irregularities in a highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber (HB PCF) with high accuracy based on polarization coupling by torsional acoustic wave. Birefringence variation induced by the irregularities of air-hole structure in the fiber cross-section is analyzed via the transmission spectra of the acousto-optic coupling between two orthogonal polarization modes propagating along the fiber. The estimated maximum birefringence variation of two sections in the same batch of the HB PCF is 3 × 10^− 6 and 10^− 5, respectively, from nominal birefringence value of 4.86 × 10^− 4. The comparison between the experimental results and the numerical simulation resulted in the estimation of few tens of nm variation in the air-hole structure in the PCF.     

Hopf bifurcation in a three-species system with delays

A kind of three-species system with Holling II functional response and two delays is introduced. Its local stability and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are demonstrated by analyzing the associated characteristic equation. By using the normal form method and center manifold theorem, explicit formulas to determine the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solution are also obtained. In addition, the global existence results of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations are established by using a global Hopf bifurcation result. Numerical simulation results are also given to support our theoretical predictions.     

An optimal‐order error estimate on an H1‐Galerkin mixed method for a nonlinear parabolic equation in porous medium flow

We present an H¹‐Galerkin mixed finite element method for a nonlinear parabolic equation, which models a compressible fluid flow process in subsurface porous media. The method possesses the advantages of mixed finite element methods while avoiding directly inverting the permeability tensor, which is important especially in a low permeability zone. We conducted theoretical analysis to study the existence and uniqueness of the numerical solutions of the scheme and prove an optimal‐order error estimate for the method. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Integration of particle swarm optimization-based fuzzy neural network and artificial neural network for supplier selection

This study is intended to develop an intelligent supplier decision support system which is able to consider both the quantitative and qualitative factors. It is composed of (1) the collection of quantitative data such as profit and productivity, (2) a particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based fuzzy neural network (FNN) to derive the rules for qualitative data, and (3) a decision integration model for integrating both the quantitative data and fuzzy knowledge decision to achieve the optimal decision. The results show that the decision support system developed in this study make more precise and favorable judgments in selecting suppliers after taking into account both qualitative and quantitative factors.     

Convergence for a class of non-autonomous Nicholson’s blowflies model with time-varying coefficients and delays

This paper is concerned with a class of the generalized non-autonomous Nicholson’s blowflies model with time-varying coefficients and delays which is defined on the nonnegative function space. Under proper conditions, we employ a novel proof to establish some criteria to ensure that all solutions of this model converge to an equilibrium. Moreover, we give an example to illustrate our main result.     

正则长波方程的三次配点法

本文讨论了正则长波方程(RLW方程)的三次配点法,得到半离散格式的最优阶误差估计,同时给出基于向后Euler法的全离散格式,并证明了相应的误差估计.     

偏硼酸钡低温相晶体在高压下的电学性质与相变

 在金刚石压砧装置上，采用电容和电阻测量方法研究了偏硼酸钡低温相晶体（β-BaB₂O₄）在室温下和16 GPa内的电容、电阻与压力的关系。实验结果表明，它的电容在2.1、4.6、6.4、8、9.5、10.7 GPa左右都有一个突变。这说明β-BaB₂O₄内部的结构状态在这些压力下都发生了变化，可能发生了相变。还发现β-BaB₂O₄样品在较高压力下已发生了非晶化转变，而且是不可逆的，在卸压后被保留下来。这个非晶化转变的压力大约在11~12 GPa。     

粘弹性波动方程的H~1-Galerkin混合有限元方法误差估计(英文)

H1-Galerkin mixed methods are proposed for viscoelasticity wave equation.Depending on the physical quantities of interest,two methods are discussed.The optimal error estimates and the proof of the existence and uniqueness of semidiscrete solutions are derived for problems in one space dimension.And the methods don＇t require the LBB condition.
