The fine and hyperfine structure of 14N2+ has been observed in 31 rotational lines of the (0, 1) band of the B2Σu+-X2Σg+ system using the method of Doppler-tuned laser-induced fluorescence on a molecular ion beam. The spin-rotation constants (γ′, γ″, γJ) are in good agreement with other experiments in which the hyperfine structure was not resolved. The Fermi-contact (bF, bF) and dipolar (t′, t″) hyperfine coupling constants are in reasonably good agreement with values calculated from ab initio wavefunctions. The least-squares experimental values in MHz are γ″ = 279.1(6), γ′ = 726.4(6), γJ = ?0.0460(2), bF = 105(4), bF = 708(3), t″ = 49(6), and t′ = 26(5).  相似文献

This study examined the hypothesis that filamentous actin associated with the complex cytoskeleton of the kangaroo sperm head and tail may be contributing to lack of plasma membrane plasticity and a consequent loss of membrane integrity during cryopreservation. In the first study, the distribution of G and F actin within Eastern Grey Kangaroo (EGK, Macropus giganteus) cauda epididymidal spermatozoa was successfully detected using DNAse-FITC and a monoclonal F-actin antibody (ab205, Abcam), respectively. G-actin staining was most intense in the acrosome but was also observed with less intensity over the nucleus and mid-piece. F-actin was located in the sperm nucleus but was not discernable in the acrosome or sperm tail. To investigate whether cytochalasin D (a known F-actin depolymerising agent) was capable of improving the osmotic tolerance of EGK cauda epididymal spermatozoa, sperm were incubated in hypo-osmotic media (61 and 104 mOsm) containing a range of cytochalasin D concentrations (0-200 microM). Cytochalasin D had no beneficial effect on plasma membrane integrity of sperm incubated in hypo-osmotic media. However, when EGK cauda epididymidal sperm were incubated in isosmotic media, there was a progressive loss of sperm motility with increasing cytochalasin D concentration. The results of this study indicated that the F-actin distribution in cauda epididymidal spermatozoa of the EGK was surprisingly different from that of the Tammar Wallaby (M. eugenii) and that cytochalasin-D does not appear to improve the tolerance of EGK cauda epididymidal sperm to osmotically induced injury.  相似文献

The non-stoichiometry and chemical diffusion coefficient of SrFe1−xCoxO3-δ have been measured by steady state and transient thermogravimetry in the temperature range 750–1200 °C at different oxygen partial pressures. At high oxygen partial pressures, the chemical diffusion coefficient was in the range 1·10−4 – 7·10−4 cm2/s. This, combined with high concentration of disordered vacancies make these materials perhaps the fastest solid oxygen ion diffusers known at high temperatures and high oxygen partial pressures. However, due to the high concentration of defects in SrFe1−xCoxO3-δ the compound transforms from a cubic (disordered) perovskite to a brownmillerite type of structure under reduced oxygen partial pressures below approx. 900 °C. Due to this phase transition, the mobility of oxygen vacancies in SrFe1−xCoxO3-δ decreases up to about an order of magnitude at 850 °C. We also observe an ordering effect at 1000 °C, although smaller in size, and this is suggested to be due to short range ordering of four-coordinated polyhedra of Fe. For possible use as oxygen separation membranes, phase stability against sulphur and carbon containing atmospheres is also discussed with respect to the formation of carbonates and sulphates. For sufficiently strong acoustic forcing in a standing wave field, subresonant size bubbles are predicted to be repelled from the pressure antinode. Single bubble sonoluminescence (SBSL) conditions in water do not allow the observation of this instability. This study investigates the possibility that increasing the viscosity of the host liquid can preferentially suppress shape instabilities of a bubble and allow SBSL experiments to be limited by the Bjerknes force instability.  相似文献

The prevalence of noise in the riding of motorcycles has been a source of concern to both riders and researchers in recent times. Detailed flow field information will allow insight into the flow mechanisms responsible for the production of sound within motorcycle helmets. Flow field surveys of this nature are not found in the available literature which has tended to focus on sound pressure levels at ear as these are of interest for noise exposure legislation. A detailed flow survey of a commercial motorcycle helmet has been carried out in combination with surface pressure measurements and at ear acoustics. Three potential noise source regions are investigated, namely, the helmet wake, the surface boundary layer and the cavity under the helmet at the chin bar. Extensive information is provided on the structure of the helmet wake including its frequency content. While the wake and boundary layer flows showed negligible contributions to at-ear sound the cavity region around the chin bar was identified as a key noise source. The contribution of the cavity region was investigated as a function of flow speed and helmet angle both of which are shown to be key factors governing the sound produced by this region.  相似文献

X-ray microdiffraction utilizing Fresnel zone plate focusing optics has been used to study microstructural properties of individual 90 degree ferroelectric domains in BaTiO3. Diffraction measurements at a microfocused spot resolution of 0.3 microm over domain widths of approximately 10 microm unambiguously reveal features of lattice buckling, rotation, and strain near domain boundaries. Our results may be understood within the context of bound residual strain due to lattice mismatch and elastic interactions between neighboring domains.  相似文献

Vocal fold nodules (VNs) in children are benign, bilateral lesions occurring on the mid-membranous vocal folds. Repetitive phonotraumatic behavior leading to chronic vocal fold injury and repair is frequently cited as the primary etiology; however, specific behavioral characteristics may predispose some children toward intense and potentially phonotraumatic voice use, thereby contributing secondarily to VN formation. The purpose of this case-control study was to determine whether children with VNs possess unique behavioral characteristics that may predispose them to VN development. Parents of 26 children with VNs (20 boys, 6 girls, mean age=7.2 years, SD=2.5 years), and 29 vocally normal, medical controls (22 boys, 7 girls, mean age=6.7 years, SD=2.4), completed the Childhood Behavior Checklist (CBCL/4-18, Achenbach, 1991), a standardized parent-rating scale with strong psychometric properties. No significant between-group differences were detected on any of the behavior problem syndrome scales. Group differences approached significance for the individual items "screams a lot" and "teases a lot" (VN group > Controls). The VN group scored significantly higher than the controls on the "Social Scale," a compilation of positive ratings of the child's social activity, frequency of contacts with friends, behavior with others, and behavior by themselves. Observed outcomes were consistent with previous characterizations of children with VN as "outgoing" or "extroverted" but were not consistent with other claims that this population may be at risk for "aggressive," "attentional," or "impulsive" behavior problems.  相似文献
