The root-mean-square (rms) nuclear charge radius of 8He, the most neutron-rich of all particle-stable nuclei, has been determined for the first time to be 1.93(3) fm. In addition, the rms charge radius of 6He was measured to be 2.068(11) fm, in excellent agreement with a previous result. The significant reduction in charge radius from 6He to 8He is an indication of the change in the correlations of the excess neutrons and is consistent with the 8He neutron halo structure. The experiment was based on laser spectroscopy of individual helium atoms cooled and confined in a magneto-optical trap. Charge radii were extracted from the measured isotope shifts with the help of precision atomic theory calculations.  相似文献

In most masking experiments, target signals and sound intended to mask are located in the same position. Spatial release from masking (SRM) occurs when signals and maskers are spatially separated, resulting in detection improvement relative to when they are spatially co-located. In this study, SRM was investigated in a harbor seal, who naturally lacks pinnae, and California sea lion, who possesses reduced pinnae. Subjects had to detect aerial tones at 1, 8, and 16 kHz in the presence of octave bands of white noise centered at the tone frequency. While the masker occurred in front of the subject (0 degree), the tone occurred at 0, 45, or 90 degrees in the horizontal plane. Unmasked thresholds were also measured at these angles to determine sensitivity differences based on source azimuth. Compared to when signal and masker where co-located, masked thresholds were lower by as much as 19 and 12 dB in the harbor seal and sea lion, respectively, when signal and masker were separated. Masked threshold differences of the harbor seal were larger than those previously measured under water. Performance was consistent with some measurements collected on terrestrial animals but differences between subjects at the highest frequency likely reflect variations in pinna anatomy.  相似文献

A novel method for the synthesis of a wide range of functionalized 1,3‐diol derivatives is reported. Employing a copper‐catalyzed oxy‐alkenylation strategy, a range of readily available, substituted homoallylic alcohol derivatives and alkenyl(aryl) iodonium salts combine to form syn‐1,3‐carbonates in excellent yield and with high selectivity. Furthermore, the products formed are amenable to an iterative reaction sequence, thus affording highly complex polyketide‐like fragments.  相似文献

A new low‐energy pathway is reported for the electrochemical reduction of CO2 to formate and syngas at low overpotentials, utilizing a reactive ionic liquid as the solvent. The superbasic tetraalkyl phosphonium ionic liquid [P66614][124Triz] is able to chemisorb CO2 through equimolar binding of CO2 with the 1,2,4‐triazole anion. This chemisorbed CO2 can be reduced at silver electrodes at overpotentials as low as 0.17 V, forming formate. In contrast, physically absorbed CO2 within the same ionic liquid or in ionic liquids where chemisorption is impossible (such as [P66614][NTf2]) undergoes reduction at significantly increased overpotentials, producing only CO as the product.  相似文献

Antiphase disorder in metal organic vapour phase epitaxy grown GaAs/(100)Ge heterostructures has been studied both in as-grown materials and in GaAs solar cells by chemical etching, transmission electron microscopy, and cathodoluminescence. All the samples are single domains at the surface due to the self-annihilation of antiphase domains whose size decreases as the misorientation angle increases. Completely antiphase domain-free epitaxy has been achieved for substrate miscuts greater than 3 degrees off towards [111]. A reversal in sublattice location has been found in the GaAs layers varying the misorientation angle and the growth temperature. A model to explain this result has been proposed based on the role of surface steps in the nucleation process. Strong interaction between antiphase boundaries and misfit dislocations has been found in all the heterostructures. In solar cells antiphase domains have been observed in high densities in the initial layer of GaAs deposited on Ge. The successful realisation of high efficiency solar cells is due to the overgrowth of these domains by single phase material over most of the wafer area.  相似文献

Attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy is used to monitor nanodiamond surface group transformations in the presence of aqueous IrCl(6)(2-). Electron transfer between the nanoparticle surface and the solution redox species results in oxidation of ~8.5% of surface alcohol groups, with concomitant formation of unsaturated ketone or quinone-like moieties.  相似文献

We describe a method for the synthesis of multigram amounts of silica nanoparticles which are controllably hydrophobized to different extents using a room temperature vapor phase silanization process. The extent of hydrophobization of the particles can be adjusted by changing the amount of dichlorodimethylsilane reagent used in the reaction. The method produces particles with good uniformity of surface coating; the silane coating varies from monolayer coverage at low extents of hydrophobization to approximately trilayer at high extents of hydrophobization. Acid-base titration using conductivity detection was used to characterize the extent of hydrophobization which is expressed as the percent of surface silanol groups remaining after silanization. Particles with %SiOH ranging from 100% (most hydrophilic) to 20% (most hydrophobic) were hand shaken with water/methanol mixtures and produced either a particle dispersion, foam, climbing films, or liquid marbles. The type of colloidal structure produced is discussed in terms of the liquid-air-particle contact angle and the energy of adsorption of the particles to the liquid-air surface.  相似文献

We consider Schrödinger operators with nonergodic random potentials. Specifically, we are interested in eigenvalue estimates and estimates of the entropy for the absolutely continuous part of the spectral measure.
