We present charged-particle multiplicities as a function of pseudorapidity and collision centrality for the 197Au+197Au reaction at square root[s(NN)] = 200 GeV. For the 5% most central events we obtain dN(ch)/deta/(eta = 0) = 625+/-55 and N(ch)/(-4.7< or =eta < or =4.7) = 4630 +/- 370, i.e., 14% and 21% increases, respectively, relative to square root[s(NN)] = 130 GeV collisions. Charged-particle production per pair of participant nucleons is found to increase from peripheral to central collisions around midrapidity. These results constrain current models of particle production at the highest RHIC energy.  相似文献

The mean residence times τ of lithium particles on oxygen covered tungsten surfaces were measured accurately over a wide temperature range (1200 < T < 1900 K) by the beam modulation technique with a lock-in analyzer. A predominant monocrystalline W(100) structure was obtained by recrystallization of a polycrystalline tungsten ribbon. The residence time was determined as a function of the oxygen coverage θ and the temperatureT of the surface. The desorption energy l and the preexponential factor τ0, calculated from the Arrhenius equation, are not only dependent on the amount of adsorbed oxygen but also on the oxygen structure. Apparently the desorption parameters l and τ0 are correlated. An increasing desorption energy l is connected to a decreasing “vibration period” τ0 whereby the influence on the residence time is partly compensated.  相似文献

A comparative study was performed on strong cation-exchangers to investigate the pH dependence, efficiency, binding strength, particle size distribution, static and dynamic capacity, and SEM pictures of chromatographic resins. The resins tested included: SP Sepharose XL, Poros 50 HS, Toyopearl SP 550c, SP Sepharose BB, Source 30S, TSKGel SP-5PW-HR20, and Toyopearl SP 650c. Testing was performed with four different proteins: anti-FVII Mab (IgG), aprotinin, lysozyme, and myoglobin. Dependence of pH on retention was generally very low for proteins with high pI. An unexpected binding at pH 7.5 of anti-FVII Mab with pI < 7.5 was observed on several resins. Efficiency results show the expected trend of higher dependence of the plate height with increasing flow rate of soft resins compared to resins for medium and high-pressure operation. Determination of particle size distribution by two independent methods, Coulter counting and SEM, was in very good agreement. The mono-dispersed nature of Source 30S was confirmed. Binding to cation-exchange resins as a function of ionic strength varies depending on the specific protein. Generally, binding and elution at high salt concentration may be performed with Toyopearl SP 550c and Poros 50 HS, while binding and elution at low salt concentration may be performed with Toyopearl SP 650c. A very high binding capacity was obtained with SP Sepharose XL. Comparison of static capacity and dynamic capacity at 10% break-through shows in general approximately 50-80% utilisation of the total available capacity during chromatographic operation. A general good agreement was obtained between this study and data obtained by others. The results of this study may be used for selection of resins for testing in process development. The validity of experiments and results with model proteins were tested using human insulin precursor in pure state and in real feed-stock on Toyopearl SP 550c, SP Sepharose BB, and Toyopearl SP 650c. The CARI (clinical amplitude/velocity reconstruction imaging) technique is a new ultrasonography for better detection of the breast cancer. The method uses the mammography-like positioning of the breast and a reference structure to assess the changes of sound velocity in the screened region. In this work, we present a first attempt to simulate the CARI technique using finite element time-domain (FETD) wave propagation. The CARI sensitivity to the size, shape and location of the tumors is investigated via the simulations on 2D and 3D breast models. Small lesions can be detectable under a suitable spatial resolution. 3D simulations agree with the quantitative results of the 2D case. Moreover, the FETD approximation is proving to be a simple, but robust tool in the CARI simulation.  相似文献

The statistics of the energy and helicity fluxes in isotropic turbulence are studied using high resolution direct numerical simulation. The scaling exponents of the energy flux agree with those of the transverse velocity structure functions through refined similarity hypothesis, consistent with Kraichnan's prediction. The helicity flux is even more intermittent than the energy flux. Consistent with this observation, the spatial helicity-flux structures are finer than those of energy flux and more tubelike in geometry.  相似文献

We present ratios of the numbers of charged antihadrons to hadrons (pions, kaons, and protons) in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV as a function of rapidity in the range y=0-3. While the ratios at midrapidity are approaching unity, the K(-)/K(+) and p;/p ratios decrease significantly at forward rapidities. An interpretation of the results within the statistical model indicates a reduction of the baryon chemical potential from mu(B) approximately 130 MeV at y=3 to mu(B) approximately 25 MeV at y=0.  相似文献
