The reactions of boron halides with free base porphyrins under conditions where partial hydrolysis of the boron halides can occur give diboron porphyrin complexes containing BOB moieties in which each boron is bonded to two porphyrin nitrogen atoms. BF(3).OEt(2) with H(2)(por) gives B(2)OF(2)(por) (por = tpp, ttp, tpClpp, oep) which has an asymmetric structure in which one boron lies in the porphyrin plane (B(ip)) while the other lies above it (B(oop)). BCl(3).MeCN with H(2)(por) gives B(2)O(2)(BCl(3))(2)(por) which contains a four-membered B(2)O(2) ring and is stable only in the presence of excess BCl(3). BBr(3) with Li(2)(tpClpp) gives the dicationic complex [B(2)O(tpClpp)](2+) as its [BBr(4)](-) salt, and is the first example of a boron porphyrin containing three-coordinate boron to be structurally characterised. B(2)O(2)(BCl(3))(2)(por) can be chromatographed on basic alumina to give the hydroxyboron complex B(2)O(OH)(2)(por), which is deduced from its NMR spectra and DFT calculations to have a structure analogous to B(2)OF(2)(por). The OH protons are shifted upfield to near delta -4 (B(oop)-OH) and -10 (B(ip)-OH) by the diamagnetic porphyrin ring current. The reaction of either B(2)O(2)(BCl(3))(2)(por) or B(2)O(OH)(2)(por) (por = ttp, tpClpp) with alcohols (ROH, R = Et, 4-C(6)H(4)CH(3)) gives B(2)O(OR)(2)(por), which can in turn be converted to B(2)O(OR)(OH)(por) by repeated chromatography. The reaction of PhBCl(2) with H(2)(por) (por = ttp, tpClpp) gives B(2)O(Ph)(OH)(por) which has been characterised by spectroscopy in concert with DFT calculations. It is a further example of the B(2)OF(2)(por) structural type, in which the phenyl group is coordinated to the out-of-plane boron and the OH group to the in-plane boron, as are its derivatives B(2)O(Ph)(X)(tpClpp) (X = F, OEt). Steric drivers for the facile hydrolysis of haloboron porphyrins relative to their dipyrromethene and expanded porphyrin counterparts are discussed.  相似文献

Lithium 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidide (LTMP)-induced intramolecular cyclopropanation of unsaturated terminal epoxides provides an efficient and completely stereoselective entry to bicyclo[3.1.0]hexan-2-ols and bicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-2-ols. Further elaboration of C-5 and C-6 stannyl-substituted bicyclo[3.1.0]hexan-2-ols via Sn-Li exchange/electrophile trapping or Stille coupling generates a range of substituted bicyclic cyclopropanes. An alternative straightforward cyclopropanation protocol using a catalytic amount of 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine (TMP) allows for a convenient (1 g-7.5 kg) synthesis of bicyclo[3.1.0]hexan-2-ol and other bicyclic adducts. The synthetic utility of this chemistry has been demonstrated in a concise asymmetric synthesis of (+)-beta-cuparenone. The related unsaturated chlorohydrins also undergo intramolecular cyclopropanation via in situ epoxide formation.  相似文献

S K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy data on a series of NiII complexes with thiolate (RS-) and oxidized thiolate (RSO2-) ligands are used to quantify Ni-S bond covalency and its change upon ligand oxidation. Analyses of these results using geometry-optimized density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the Ni-S sigma bonds do not weaken on ligand oxidation. Molecular orbital analysis indicates that these oxidized thiolate ligands use filled high-lying S-O pi* orbitals for strong sigma donation. However, the RSO2- ligands are poor pi donors, as the orbital required for pi interaction is used in the S-O sigma-bond formation. The oxidation of the thiolate reduces the repulsion between electrons in the filled Ni t2 orbital and the thiolate out-of-plane pi-donor orbital leading to shorter Ni-S bond length relative to that of the thiolate donor. The insights obtained from these results are relevant to the active sites of Fe- and Co-type nitrile hydratases (Nhase) that also have oxidized thiolate ligands. DFT calculations on models of the active site indicate that whereas the oxidation of these thiolates has a major effect in the axial ligand-binding affinity of the Fe-type Nhase (where there is both sigma and pi donation from the S ligands), it has only a limited effect on the sixth-ligand-binding affinity of the Co-type Nhases (where there is only sigma donation). These oxidized residues may also play a role in substrate binding and proton shuttling at the active site.  相似文献

Measurements made of the acoustical characteristics of, and occupied noise levels in, ten eating establishments are described. Levels to which diners and employees were exposed varied from 45 to 82 dB(A). From these levels and diner questionnaire responses, the number of customers present and average noise levels to which individual diners were exposed during their visits were estimated. These data, assumptions about the number of talkers per customer, and classical room-acoustical theory were used to deduce talker voice output levels. These varied from slightly above "casual" to "loud." An iterative model for predicting speech and noise levels in eating establishments, including the Lombard effect as described by a new, proposed model, was developed. With the measured noise levels as the target for prediction, optimization techniques were used to find best estimates of unknown prediction parameters--such as those defining the Lombard effect, the number of talkers per customer, and the average absorption per customer--with highly credible results. The prediction algorithm and optimal parameters constitute a novel model for predicting speech and noise levels--and thus speech intelligibility--in eating establishments, as a function of the number of customers, including a proven, realistic model of the Lombard effect.  相似文献

Recent papers have discussed the optimal reverberation times in classrooms for speech intelligibility, based on the assumption of a diffuse sound field. Here this question was investigated for more ‘typical’ classrooms with non-diffuse sound fields. A ray-tracing model was modified to predict speech-intelligibility metric U50. It was used to predict U50 in various classroom configurations for various values of the room absorption, allowing the optimal absorption (that predicting the highest U50)—and the corresponding optimal reverberation time—to be identified in each case. The range of absorptions and reverberation times corresponding to high speech intelligibility were also predicted in each case. Optimal reverberation times were also predicted from the optimal surface-absorption coefficients using Sabine and Eyring versions of diffuse-field theory, and using the diffuse-field expression of Hodgson and Nosal. In order to validate the ray-tracing model, predictions were made for three classrooms with highly diffuse sound fields; these were compared to values obtained by the diffuse-field models, with good agreement. The methods were then applied to three ‘typical’ classrooms with non-diffuse fields. Optimal reverberation times increased with room volume and noise level to over 1 s. The accuracy of the Hodgson and Nosal expression varied with classroom size and noise level. The optimal average surface-absorption coefficients varied from 0.19 to 0.83 in the different classroom configurations tested. High speech intelligibility was, in general, predicted for a wide range of coefficients, but could not be obtained in a large, noisy classroom.  相似文献

Low-temperature oxygenation of copper(I) complexes of N,N,N',N'-tetraethylpropane-1,3-diamine yields solutions containing both mu-eta2:eta2-peroxodicopper(II) (P) and bis(mu-oxo)dicopper(III) (O) valence isomers. The P/O equilibrium position depends on the nature of the counteranion; P is favored with more basic anions. Titration and EXAFS experiments as well as DFT calculations suggest that axial donation from a sulfonate anion to the copper centers imparts an electronic/electrostatic bias toward the P isomer.  相似文献

Iron L-edge, iron K-edge, and sulfur K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy was performed on a series of compounds [Fe(III)H(3)buea(X)](n-) (X = S(2-), O(2-), OH(-)). The experimentally determined electronic structures were used to correlate to density functional theory calculations. Calculations supported by the data were then used to compare the metal-ligand bonding and to evaluate the effects of H-bonding in Fe(III)(-)O vs Fe(III)(-)S complexes. It was found that the Fe(III)(-)O bond, while less covalent, is stronger than the Fe(III)(-)S bond. This dominantly reflects the larger ionic contribution to the Fe(III)(-)O bond. The H-bonding energy (for three H-bonds) was estimated to be -25 kcal/mol for the oxo as compared to -12 kcal/mol for the sulfide ligand. This difference is attributed to the larger charge density on the oxo ligand resulting from the lower covalency of the Fe-O bond. These results were extended to consider an Fe(IV)(-)O complex with the same ligand environment. It was found that hydrogen bonding to Fe(IV)(-)O is less energetically favorable than that to Fe(III)(-)O, which reflects the highly covalent nature of the Fe(IV)(-)O bond.  相似文献
