High-spin states have been studied in 72Kr and 72Br using the 40Ca + 40Ca and 36Ar + 40Ca reactions at 164 and 145 MeV, respectively. The properties and configurations of the high-spin bands observed have been interpreted using unpaired cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky (CNS), and for 72Kr, paired cranked relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (CRHB) calculations. In 72Kr a new band has been identified that has the properties expected for the doubly aligned S-band configuration. In 72Br the previously known bands have been extended to higher spin. The thermal lensing properties of stable and unstable resonators are compared and rules are given for the design of optimized unstable resonators containing a focusing rod. Experimental verification with a high-power Nd: YAG system proved that for unstable resonators the restricting relationship between beam quality and output power no longer holds. Careful resonator design enables high output power to be extracted with unstable resonators without destroying the output couplers.  相似文献

Recent studies show that structures based on the traditional "icelike" water bilayer are not stable on flat transition metal surfaces and, instead, more complex wetting layers are formed. Here we show that an ordered bilayer can be formed on a SnPt(111) alloy template and determine the structure of the water layer by low energy electron diffraction. Close agreement is found between experiment and the structure calculated by density functional theory. Corrugation of the alloy surface allows only alternate water molecules to chemisorb, stabilizing the H-down water bilayer by reducing the metal-hydrogen repulsion compared to a flat surface.  相似文献

The refractive power of two flashlamp-pumped Nd:YAG rods was measured as being dependent on the output coupling of the resonator. With laser oscillation, the refractive power or thermal heat is decreased by up to 15% and a minimum occurs at a specific output coupling. The experimental results could be explained by a theoretical model assuming a non-radiative transition from the upper laser level to the ground state. The lifetime of this non-radiative transition decreases with increasing pumping power per pulse and, for pumping power higher than 100 kW, saturation at a value of 0.63 times the fluorescence lifetime occurs. The results indicate that the non-radiative process is caused by energy migration to flashlamp-induced transient quenching centres.  相似文献

Zinc oxide thin films were prepared by dc (direct current) and rf (radio frequency) magnetron sputtering on glass substrates. ZnO films produced by dc sputtering have a high resistance, while the films produced using rf sputtering are significantly more conductive. While the conductive films have a compact nodular surface morphology, the resistive films have a relatively porous surface with columnar structures in cross section. Compared to the dc sputtered films, rf sputtered films have a microstructure with smaller d spacing, lower internal stress, higher band gap energy and higher density. Dependence of conductivity on the deposition technique and the resulting d spacing , stress, density, band gap, film thickness and Al doping are discussed. Correlations between the electrical conductivity, microstructural parameters and optical properties of the films have been made. PACS 73.25.+i; 81.15.cd; 81.05.ys  相似文献

Higher homologues of widely reported C86 isoprenoid diglycerol tetraether lipid cores, containing 0–6 cyclopentyl rings, have been identified in (hyper)thermophilic archaea, representing up to 21% of total tetraether lipids in the cells. Liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry confirms that the additional carbon atoms in the C87‐88 homologues are located in the etherified chains. Structures identified include dialkyl and monoalkyl (‘H‐shaped’) tetraethers containing C40‐42 or C81‐82 hydrocarbons, respectively, many representing novel compounds. Gas chromatography‐mass spectrometric analysis of hydrocarbons released from the lipid cores by ether cleavage suggests that the C40 chains are biphytanes and the C41 chains 13‐methylbiphytanes. Multiple isomers, having different chain combinations, were recognised among the dialkyl lipids. Methylated tetraethers are produced by Methanothermobacter thermautotrophicus in varying proportions depending on growth conditions, suggesting that methylation may be an adaptive mechanism to regulate cellular function. The detection of methylated lipids in Pyrobaculum sp. AQ1.S2 and Sulfolobus acidocaldarius represents the first reported occurrences in Crenarchaeota. Soils and aquatic sediments from geographically distinct mesotemperate environments that were screened for homologues contained monomethylated tetraethers, with di‐ and trimethylated structures being detected occasionally. The structural diversity and range of occurrences of the C87‐89 tetraethers highlight their potential as complementary biomarkers for archaea in natural environments. While conceptual understanding of properties, operations, and the base‐ten number system is certainly associated with the ability to access math facts fluently, the role of math fact memorization to promote conceptual understanding remains contested. In order to gain insight into this question, this study looks at the results when one of three elementary schools in a school district implements mandatory automaticity drills for 10 minutes each day while the remaining two elementary schools, with the same curriculum and very similar demographics, do not. This study looks at (a) the impact that schoolwide implementation of automaticity drills has on schoolwide computational math skills as measured by the ITBS and (b) the relationship between automaticity and conceptual understanding as measured by statewide standardized testing. The results suggest that while there may be an association between automaticity and higher performance on standardized tests, caution should be taken before assuming there are benefits to promoting automaticity drills. These results are consistent with those that support a process‐driven approach to automaticity based on familiarity with properties and strategies associated with the base‐ten number system; they are not consistent with those that support an answer‐driven approach to automaticity based on memorization of answers.  相似文献

Starting from readily available (S)‐styrene oxide an asymmetric synthesis is described of the naturally occurring anti‐HIV spirolactone (?)‐hyperolactone C, which possesses adjacent fully substituted stereocenters. The key step involves a stereocontrolled RhII‐catalysed oxonium ylide formation–[2,3] sigmatropic rearrangement of an α‐diazo‐β‐ketoester bearing allylic ether functionality. From the resulting furanone, an acid‐catalysed lactonisation and dehydrogenation gives the natural product.  相似文献

S K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy on the resting oxidized and the S-adenosyl-l-methionine (SAM) bound forms of pyruvate formate-lyase activating enzyme are reported. The data show an increase in pre-edge intensity, which is due to additional contributions from sulfide and thiolate of the Fe(4)S(4) cluster into the C-S σ* orbital. This experimentally demonstrates that there is a backbonding interaction between the Fe(4)S(4) cluster and C-S σ* orbitals of SAM in this inner sphere complex. DFT calculations that reproduce the data indicate that this backbonding is enhanced in the reduced form and that this configurational interaction between the donor and acceptor orbitals facilitates the electron transfer from the cluster to the SAM, which otherwise has a large outer sphere electron transfer barrier. The energy of the reductive cleavage of the C-S bond is sensitive to the dielectric of the protein in the immediate vicinity of the site as a high dielectric stabilizes the more charge separated reactant increasing the reaction barrier. This may provide a mechanism for generation of the 5'-deoxyadenosyl radical upon substrate binding.  相似文献
