Thermo-responsive cellulosic nanolayers were prepared from methylcellulose (MC), which is known to have a unique lower critical solution temperature. Thiosemicarbazide (TSC) was selectively introduced into the MC reducing end groups, and the corresponding MC-TSC derivative was spontaneously chemisorbed on an Au substrate at 4 °C to give MC self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Linear MC chains were stably fixed onto the Au substrate, yielding an MC-SAM of thickness ca. 15 nm with a root mean square value less than 1 nm. The MC-SAM surface exhibited thermally responsive wetting characteristics; the water contact angle was found to rise and fall around 70 °C, possibly due to the solid-state phase transition of the MC nanolayers resulting from the inherent gelation of MC molecules in water. Such wetting behavior was shown to be reversible following repeated heating and cooling. The MC-SAM immersed in salt solution revealed lower phase transition temperatures, and an increase in sodium chloride concentration ranging from 0.0 to 1.0 M brought about a dramatic decrease in the apparent phase transition temperature from ca. 70 to 30 °C. For the purposely designed MC nanolayers, such controllable wetting properties are expected to prompt growing interest in the applications of cellulosic biopolymer interfaces.  相似文献

We carried out an experimental and numerical investigation of photoinduced voltage at normal incidence in the nondiffraction regime, which was not predicted to occur by the simple momentum conservation model. We prepared two samples: one having space inversion symmetry and the other without this feature. At normal incidence in the nondiffraction regime, we observed a finite signal only for the asymmetric structure. We found that surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are excited by the signal and are attributed to the origin of the voltage. We also evaluated the radiation force of light by using the Maxwell stress tensor and found that pressure of light and not shear force is mainly induced in the structure due to the asymmetric excitation of SPPs.  相似文献

The relationship between Mg# [ = 100 Mg/(Mg + Fe) in mol] and the Raman shift was analyzed precisely for olivine [(Mg, Fe)2SiO4] samples with Mg# between 100 and 62.8. Two prominent peaks at 826–820 cm−1 (peak 1) and 858–849 cm−1 (peak 2) and three subordinate peaks at 883–881 cm−1 (peak 3), 920–914 cm−1 (peak 4), and 967–951 cm−1 (peak 5) were observed to shift monotonously to lower wavenumbers with decreasing Mg#. The ΔMg#( = Mg#refMg#) versus Δν(= νref − ν) can be linearly regressed for each peak as ΔMg# = A Δν, where ν is a peak wavenumber of olivine with Mg# ranging from 100 to 62.8, and νref is that of olivine with a reference value of Mg#, namely, Mg#ref. We set Mg#ref as 100 (i.e.pure forsterite Mg2SiO4) whereas A is a regression parameter (5.789, 4.294, 12.34, 6.348, and 2.09, respectively,for peaks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5). This equation enables us to avoid small inter‐laboratory differences of wavenumber calibration. The equation for peak 2 yields estimations of Mg# in geologically satisfactory precision, ± 1 Mg# (1σ) in the Mg# range of 100–62.8. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We theoretically investigated a digitally tunable laser with a chirped ladder filter and a ring resonator to obtain a wide wavelength tuning range covering the whole C- or L- band. The clear relation between the tuning range and laser structure, especially the ladder filter, is described analytically. The introduction of a chirped structure into a ladder filter is effective in achieving both wide tunability and a stable lasing mode. A numerical simulation based on multimode rate equations shows that a tuning range of over 40 nm and a mode suppression ratio over 40 dB can be achieved by introducing a chirped ladder filter.  相似文献

Landau levels have been theoretically investigated in a two-dimensional electron gas near a quantum dot (QD) layer. By a diagrammatical method, we have formulated the self-energy for the Landau level and deduced its relation to the AC conductivity σloc(ω) in the QD layer. As an example, we have examined the density of states in the case where σloc(ω) is described by AωS(S=0.8). It is found that the Landau levels are broadened due to the interaction with the localized electrons in the QDs.  相似文献

Topological singularity in a continuum theory of defects and a quantum field theory is studied from a viewpoint of differential geometry. The integrability conditions of singularity (Clairaut‐Schwarz‐Young theorem) are expressed by a torsion tensor and a curvature tensor when a Finslerian intrinsic parallelism holds for the multi‐valued function. In the context of the quantum field theory, the singularity called an extended object is expressed by the torsion when the intrinsic parallelism is related to the spontaneous breakdown of symmetry. In the continuum theory of defects, the path‐dependency of point and line defects within a crystal is interpreted by the non‐vanishing condition of torsion tensor in a non‐Riemannian space osculated from the Finsler space, and the domain is not simply connected. On the other hand, for the rotational singularity, an energy integral (J‐integral) around a disclination field is path‐independent when a nonlinear connection is single‐valued. This means that the topological expression for the sole defect (Gauss‐Bonnet theorem with genus ) is understood by the integrability of nonlinear connection.

Two types of optical current transducers (OCTs) have a bulk Faraday sensor inserted into the gap of an iron core and a porcelain insulator with optical fiber. The sensor consists of Bi12SiO20 (BSO) single crystal, a polarizer, and an analyzer. The OCTs satisfied the target performance requirement for fault location and metering and demonstrated maintained performance at some power utilities in Japan and the US. We have developed a fault location system that immediately detects the fault current with the OCTs, there by locating the fault section. The OCT can easily replace the existing support insulators for the disconnecting switch without any modifications to structure height or bus-bar. For metering requiring 0.3% class accuracy, use of a BSO with right optical rotatory power combined with BSO with left optical rotatory power results in a Faraday sensor with improved temperature characteristics. The OCT demonstrated 0.3% class accuracy for metering described in the current transformer Specifications of IEEE C57–13, 1993.  相似文献

We have investigated the performance of organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) with a rubrene-doped mixed single layer by using 4,4′-bis[N-(1-napthyl)-N-phenyl- amion] biphenyl (α-NPD) as hole transport layer. Comparing to a conventional heterostructure OLED, equal luminance vs. current density characteristics were obtained. In addition, maximum power efficiency was threefold improved, and the achieved value was 5.90 lm/W by optimizing a mixing ratio of hole and electron transport materials. By evaluating the temperature dependence of the J V characteristics for electron-injection dominated device, the electron injection from Al/LiF to mixed organic layer is attributed to Schottky thermal emission model. And the barrier height of the electron injection from Al/LiF into mixed single layer was obtained to be 0.62 eV, which is lower than Al/Alq3 interface. Meanwhile, the mixed single-layer device exhibited superior operational durability at a half-luminance of 2,250 h under a constant current operation mode. The reliability was improved with a factor of two compared to the heterostructure device due to the improvement of stability in mixed organic molecules and removal of the heterojunction interface in the mixed single-layer device.  相似文献

An improved coating method was proposed in order to form a uniform polymer layer in the fabrication of cyclic olefin polymer-coated silver (COP/Ag) hollow fiber. A COP solution was flowed in a closed loop, in which the silver-coated tube was used as a part of the loop. Owing to the constant flowing speed of the COP solution and the airtight flowing environment, a COP layer was uniformly formed. The hollow fibers attain high performance and deliver multi-wavelength laser light from the infrared to the visible simultaneously. The method was successfully applied to the fabrication of practical hollow fibers with 2 m length for the near and mid-infrared lasers.  相似文献

The observation of slow-wave sustained (SW) discharge in a whistler- or helicon-wave range of frequency is made using high-frequency and very-high-frequency bands of rf.
